Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
In the meantime, I'm conflicted on what to choose for "Free Admission: Enter at Your Own Risk", so I'll put it up for vote.
House of Wax (1953) -or- Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)? We don't currently have any other films from the 50's on the list and HOW is obviously a classic. On the other hand, Killer Klowns is a cult classic and makes for a fun <strike>Saturday</strike> Friday flick. Help me decide. Also, we still needs votes on the Criterion Crossover. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
My vote goes to Killer Klowns.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I vote for HOUSE OF WAX!

For the Criterion Crossover, I vote for Diabolique or Eyes Without a Face. For Free Admission, I vote for House of Wax, only because I watched Killer Klowns two challenges back. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I vote Killer Klowns. I haven't seen it in quite awhile and need to give it a spin again. I remember not really caring for it that much despite it's cult status.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
For Criterion, I vote for Fiend without a Face, Equinox, or The Blob.
For the other, I vote House of Wax. |

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Voting here for Killer Klowns; HoW may be the better film but KK fits the free admission theme better with it's go for the gusto carnival antics.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
House of Wax
Carnival of Souls for Criterion. |

I need a little clarification on theme three. Do our double feature picks need to have actually played at a drive-in, or is it more of a "fantasy" drive-in double feature?

Yeah, the intention is to have two films that played the drive-in circuit together as a double bill.

^Got it. Thanks.
And we're down to the last two... We need picks from the following:
And they need to be from the following unclaimed themes:
You can still pick films already chosen as suggestions if you want. Link to theme nights if you need the links. <BR> |

Would Eyes without a Face work as my subset pick for Eyes of Death? I think the poster displays the eyes pretty prominently. Only if it's not being used as part of the Criterion Crossover, of course, but it seemed like Carnival of Souls was winning out. Otherwise, I can find something else with "Eyes". |

It's still not too late to get your vote in for Criterion Crossover if you haven't already.
Currently it's The Blob and Carnival of Souls with the most votes. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
A vote for wolf cop

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
So, speaking of pre-Challenge planning, there are at least ten Criterion horror films, so starting tonight I'll be watching one horror film a night to count for the Criterion Challenge and get me really primed for the Horror Challenge.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I try to avoid rewatches, but I've already seen all the Criterion horror films so I've decided to rewatch Rosemary's Baby. It's been a long time since I've seen it and I didn't think it was anything special, so I'm going to revisit it.
There were so many films I put on my 'rewatch' list after gathering lists for TSZDT, just reading about how much other people liked them made me want to see them again even if I didn't like them. |

Too late for a last minute maybe into the 80's VHS distributor circle (I have had CHUD on the brain all week)?

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I'm still playing catch up on this thread, and I would like to nominate Late Phases for the Werewolf theme. I really did enjoy it.
Free Admission - House Of Wax Criterion - Carnival of Souls |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Even though we're waiting on the final pick, I think I'm gonna go ahead and post the subset list tonight minus that entry. All I have to do is plug it into the table later, and just hold off the on its discussion thread. No big deal. And I'll give some time for everyone to look over the list before putting up the threads.
Then on to the checklist. |

Checklist idea: Just to be retro, use the original checklist with no changes.

I could see how that might be misinterpreted.
BTW, I'm gonna post the subset discussion threads already. If for whatever reason something needs to be changed, well, I can edit and a mod can change the title. |

THE RETURN OF BOB!!!! And I wonder if I was the only one that thought Next of Kin was that Patrick Swayze movie. BTW, Chad, if you already had a certain poster for Pet Sematary's discussion thread planned, then discard this. But if you're open for alternatives: Spoiler:
EDIT-Cool! Looks like you had the same poster in mind! |
