Ginger Snaps
May (one of the most f'd films I have ever seen)
Creepshow 1 or 2
Jacob_b, because you had posted your pick for Home Invasion before me, I would be cool with switching with you, if you prefer.

If that's ok with Chad, I'd be down. I know it's not on Amazon and I don't have Netflix yet, so if anyone could check that would be awesome. It's one of the best home invasion films and I would love to talk to others about the film.

It's not on netflix streaming, not sure about the netflix dvd option since I don't have it. I will try to get to it this october whether it's a subset or not but not sure where it'll be available. If I see it, I will review it for sure.

Subset looks really good so far. Wasn't sure I was going to attempt it (it was the one thing I didn't complete last year), but the ready availability of most of the titles and the interest level has me stoked. Added a bunch to my Netflix list this morning.

Can I support mrcellophane's suggestion for Occult Detective, The Relic (1997)? Got the blu-ray in a bargain bin and dying to finally watch that one.

I'd advise against In Their Skin just because it doesn't seem very readily attainable.

There is a DVD release that can be found cheaply from some online retailers. GoHastings.com has In Their Skin previously viewed for ~$2.66 with today's ITSLOG coupon code for 30% off but supplies are likely short, I ordered one on jacob_b's recommendation.

I'd love to see Synapse or Arrow snag it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that you also expressed interest in my recommendation of Screams of a Winter Night. If so, it's back on Youtube, and this time not in the annoying chopped into seven parts format. Coincidentally, it's one of my unpicked subset choices this go-round, all of which I recommend for those who want multiple titles for each theme.

I'm good with picking an Ice Terrors subset film today, but if anyone wants to suggest one please do!

And if you're not one of the 31 volunteers I'll defer to you; and try my luck at once again encouraging at least "unofficial" 32rd and 33rd subset picks to include the official hours outside of the 31 days of October and intersecting with the Criterion Challenge and Comedy Challenge.

Just a note that this is in 10 parts on YouTube. Looks to be good quality, though. Also, for those looking to pick up new blu-rays, this is arriving from the Scream Factory line in a 2-pack with Scanners 3. Putting in my list, for sure. Haven't seen these sequels.

Thanks for the heads up about Screams of a Winter Night. I recall book marking it last year but then getting squeezed for time - this year I will check it out. I'm making a list of "go to" movies for each theme night and have Screams of a Winter Night down for horror westerns.

For the Ice Terrors subset choice, I"m considering, and welcome input on, the following:

The Thing From Another World (1951) - surprised we never did this one
Whiteout (2008) - never seen, but worthy just for Kate Beckinsale perhaps?
Storm of the Century (1999) - would hit the TV movie checklist item, or is that a theme night?
The Last Winter (2008)
Dreamcatcher (2003)
Frozen (2010) - I thought we did this one but I didn't see it in the list
Ice Cream Man (1995) - Lee Majors and Jan-Michael Vincent!

or maybe one of the dozens of killer Santa Claus films.

Whiteout is a bit of a drag except for a nice Beckinsale underwear shot. Dreamcatcher is an odd duck, but wouldn't mind seeing that again. Like all the King adaptations, I usually find something to enjoy in it. Storm of the Century is pretty damn good, but a bit more of an investment than some might want. Is that Ice Cream Man with Clint Howard? Think I watched it for the B-film fest earlier this year. Not bad, but I missed Lee Majors.

Okay, if you really want me to change it I'll do it; can't deny a man that's that passionate about a subset pick. But like Undeadcow said, it's not exactly readily available, and the discussion thread could take a huge hit as a result.

If you're cool with that, I'll replace Home Invasion with it and give cwileyy your Halloween-related theme.

If not, I'll go with one of your Halloween picks.

Let me know.

These two are next on the agenda. I honestly can't believe how many classics we've still yet to cover.

Jerry Bishop, the original Svengoolie has died.

Never got to see it being it was before my time, but I have become a fan of Rich Koz's show on Me-TV.

Hey Chad, you can stick with my Halloween picks because it isn't easy to pick up. However, if anyone is down to watch In Their Skins on top of the picked Home Invasion film, let me know. I really want to see if I'm the only one that thought this was The Strangers on some serious 'roids.

Someone posted this video in September last year in anticipation, and it got me drooling for October to get here. I share it to you this year:

Sorry to ask for yet another pick, but I was just getting around to adding it and noticed The Descent isn't streaming on Netflix ...only Descent with Rosario Dawson.

And let me add The Last Winter is a huge letdown. I'd explain why but honestly can't remember being it's such a forgettable film.

Speaking of Larry Fessenden ice terrors streaming on Netflix, another one with wasted potential is Hypothermia. The creature is a rubber monster suit, but not in the good way--it literally looks like a guy wearing a wetsuit. And the ending is just beyond terrible. Only worth it to see Michael Rooker play against type.

I'm probably going to catch Sleepy Hollow sometime this week online or On Demand.

Question, what horror movies are "must own" or "must watch" for October? Got some Amazon and Best Buy credit and want to get a couple of new films.
