A few suggestions:

Galaxy of Terror
Forbidden World
Queen of Blood
Planet of the Vampires
Inseminoid

It's been awhile but I don't remember Xtro having much to do about taking place in space. It's mostly about his son on Earth and him showing up. Maybe at the very beginning?

What I do remember taking place in space are Leprechaun 4, Critters 4, Jason X, and countless Alien rip-offs.

Thanks, I have all the Leprechaun films so maybe will force myself to watch part 4. I appreciate the suggestions.

^ One of my personal favorites is The Dark Side of the Moon about a crew that encounters the devil in space. I have the VHS, but I'm pretty sure I saw it when browsing streaming titles on Netflix.

I am cool with the holiday themed ones and looking forward to Christmas Evil.
Well, I didn't say space was important. I said science fiction, which doesn't always have to do with space. That's why I said I could see your point about space and that a combination space/extraterrestrial would be a possible compromise. But my biggest issue was that I didn't agree with your reasoning about altering the checklist because something is better covered in another challenge.

Fair enough, I have resigned myself to Leprechaun 4 for now. I went through my collection this weekend and organized some of my films by theme day to get ready. Too bad there's not an evil midget theme day (haha).

Thanks to J.Farley for the Dark Side of the Moon recommendation, I'll have to hunt that one down sometime.

There is a school of thought that says that FRANKENSTEIN is science-fiction because science is used to bring the creature to life.

Haven't gone hardcore with this challenge since 2009. I WANT to make 100 films this year. Starting a "to watch list" as we speak.

I have been deliberately hitting in the 80+ range, but I am with you this year. It'll be my first time, but I am going to hit 100 also!

Drawing a complete blank on it. The only ones I have any real memories of are the first and last one.

I see it as both sci-fi and horror.

Will anyone else be checking out season 2 of American Horror Story as part of this challenge?

I watched all but the last episode of season 1 and it got deleted off my DVR, so I have to wait for the blu ray to hit Netlfix, but I plan on getting into the second season.

Hell yeah, it was one of my favorite parts about last challenge, and had some awesome GetGlue stickers.

I'll be passing for two reasons:

1) Although it started strong, AHS fell apart by the end of the season, even going so far as to essentially do a stand-alone episode at the end of the run to fill out the episode order. While I'm sure that the producers have a firmer grasp on what they want to do this season as compared to last season, BECAUSE of last season it's not gotta-see TV for me.

2) I cancelled my DirecTV account and am not missing it in the least. I don't plan on resubscribing to it or to any cable company. I find it really quite liberating to not be tied to a DVR or TV schedule. I think I'm going to keep it this way.

I'll be checking out AHS, Walking Dead and Dexter, same as last year. I'm also thinking about breaking out my Tales From the Crypt and Friday the 13th: The Series season sets. I've got a ton of stuff that I'd like to try and get to.

Hell yes! I really enjoyed having the show on during last year's challenge. I am looking forward to watching it this year. The previews all look excellent.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

The nerd in me has forced me to work on an access database, focusing on the checklist. Anyone else taking it to an extreme?

I'm just doing it on movies I own, with the possibility of streaming something if I have a category or two I need to check off but can't do with what I have.
