If we have Wild Cards this year, could you use one of those to swap out Tintorera for another movie and still complete the subset? Chad? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

If Tinoterra has animal cruelty, as reported by someone, then I'd also respectfully object to it being included on the subset list.

Yep. Got a stack of over 30 of them to draw from myself.
I've got to say great work in keeping order out of the madness while sorting all of the various lists and whatnot, Chad. It's a lot of work and I know it's very appreciated by all that participate.
I feel bad for not joining in the conversation as much as I want to, but my computer's been screwed up until yesterday. Unfortunately, thanks to the downtime, I now have four days to finish the script project I was working on before the 1st hits, so my time's still going to be wrapped up until then.
I do plan on participating more in the subset conversations than I have before. I was wondering how limited I'd be in watching films from it since I'm going for essentially 97% first time viewings this round, but luckily, there's about 18 movies I either own or is on Netflix that I haven't seen yet. And I can always throw some comments in for the ones I have seen before.

Use for titles that lie outside the horror genre and normally wouldn't qualify or for those questionable titles you're not 100% certain about. They can also be used to count titles that aren't intended to be included as a full entry (ie a leftover 30-minute TV episode or short film). You have three so use them wisely.
I should make reading the first post mandatory.
Sorry, Darkgod...I guess that I've got to claim responsibility for picking that one. I've never seen it, and I saw that it was on Netflix streaming, and it fit the Day 3 theme of Jawsploitation, and....and.....

However, if you absolutely want to change your subset pick to another 'JawsSploitation' title I guess it's not too late. I could change the links, poster, etc. and ask a mod change the title of the thread. Totally up to you, but it has to be done today.

If i watch the 4 hour documentary "Never Sleep Again" and the original Nightmare on Elm Street film on the 29th, do I get credit for the marathon theme night?

The animal killing in Tintorera is more plentiful than in a lot of the other, better known, exploitation movies of the 70s. In their spare time, Miguel and Steve enjoy shooting sharks in the head and spearing barracudas. The movie shows literally dozens of sharks, turtles, and assorted fish being killed. It's really nasty stuff.
It'd be different if it was Cannibal Holocaust since the DVD at least offers a cruelty-free version. This doesn't.
Orca's not streaming via Netflix, but is on YouTube in six parts:

And it has an Ennio Morricone score.

As I've stated in the past, I'm not particularly fond of the whole forum set-up for this challenge. Nonetheless I do read and keep up with what people are watching. I thought I'd post a link to an alternative, a so called "blogathon", which does much the same thing as this challenge only in a friendlier format, especially if you already have a blog, like me. It's all horror, all October, no rules, no tedious format editing. I do not run it, I'm just a participant.

I now remember abandoning my list last year. I didn't have much time to watch that many in 2010 anyways. Let's do it!!

In case you missed the news four posts up...
Day 3 of the subset list has been changed from "Tintorera: Killer Shark" to "Orca: The Killer Whale".
"Orca: The Killer Whale" Reviews/Discussion - 2011 Horror Challenge: Day 3
Don't forget to change the info if you've already copied it into your list.
And while I'm at it, here's the three optional lists for copying and pasting into your list:
The Checklist:

I like the interaction here. Plus, I prefer the intimacy of our setup because I think this is already a second virtual home for many of us. It's not like we have that many rules. It's pretty much just watch horror and keep a list. You aren't under any requirements to do tedious format editing or participate in any of the subsets or checklists. I've always found our challenge to be pretty simple. It's all as complicated as you choose to make it.

I guess I'm stupid because I can't figure out how that is supposed to be friendlier. I fail to see any organization or anything. Or is not meant to be organized, just a series of links to people who blog while watching horror movies in October?

Why choose one over the other? That's like picking peanut butter over chocolate when you can have peanut butter cups.*
I'd like to thank JerryKILL for letting me know about the blogathon. I was planning on reposting my reviews to my blog anyway, so why not reach as big an audience as possible? I can still come here for discussion about the film of the day and get my camaraderie fix, yet maybe get a few more people reading my blog at the same time, thus bringing my daily average number of readers up to 4 or 5. Win/win!!
*Note the incredibly clever use of a "candy" analogy in an October-/Halloween-themed thread. My rapier wit cuts to the quick! (Or not.)

Here's how I did the checklist, now with two less titles, for a grand total of 30 titles(unless my math is off). Other than Tokyo Zombie, which I picked for a third format/language/zombie, these are only films from my collection.

Question - I was going to watch the Thomas Edison version of Frankenstein to knock out the 1910 checkmark, but it's only thirteen minutes long. Does its short running time disqualify it as a 'film'?

You can use one of your 3 wildcards on it or build up 90 minutes worth of other short films to count a full entry.
