No. I sold off my snapper-cased Blade Runner once the Final Cut was announced....bought from Amazon in 2000.

The first DVD I ever bought was the Lions Gate SciFi 4 pack
or Ghostbusters
Also I did get a free 4 pack with my dvd player with Stepmom, StarGate Extended Edition and 2 more that escape me.
I think it would be weird if you didn't still have the first DVD and you were a member of this forum.

My friend got from another 5 free deal: The Fugitive, Jumanji, Basic Instinct, Michael, & Lost In Space
I think the first ones I got were Maverick, US Marshalls & The Fugitive. (I traded FMJ for The Fugitive). I still have Maverick and US Marshalls and have since upgraded The Fugitive.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?
Oh, man I ended up typing a huge wall of text. I've decided to just keep it VERY short! So here goes ...
This is driving me crazy! I actually know every DVD that I ever owned. Yet I cannot recall how it all started and what came first!? I can vividly remember when and how I started my VHS Collection. I resisted DVDs for a long time. It's possible that these three early purchases of mine at Wal-mart were the first ...
... but 2002 release dates? Man, I guess I did wait that long. Seeing Godzilla DVDs I guess I couldn't resist? Looking back it seems to be 2004 when I really started buying DVDs. This is making my head spin.
Loooooooong story short I lost every DVD that I ever owned. I decided to start up a new DVD Collection in October 2009 and discovered this website while doing research. It was this site that alerted me to $3 DVDs at Big Lots. So I started hitting Big Lots on 11-1-2009!
In trying to keep on topic ... my new collection started with ...
I still have it and will never sell it! Technically I got this off eBay in September 2009. I wanted to see the full / real version of the film and thus ordered it.

My dad worked for Panasonic in 2000 and won our first dvd player at the Christmas party that year so for Christmas I received the first dvd's we had... Stuart Little, Chicken Run, 'N sync In the Mix, and 'N sync Live at Madison Square Garden (hey I was a 13 year old girl!).. I know I still have Stuart Little and Chicken Run, but I think the Nsync's got lost in a move along the way

I no longer have it - The Princess Bride.
At the time I worked at Hollywood Video and I'd just borrow the DVDs for free!

Sure do.
My first DVD was "Devil's Advocate," which I bought at CompUSA back in August 1998 at full retail price because it was the only place I could find the uncensored version of the DVD. This was a good four months before I ended up getting a player.
I picked up a few DVDs here and there, and ordered about a fifteen or so from Bestbuy.com when they were having a huge sale that Christmas season... picked up Silence of the Lambs and This is Spinal Tap Criterions for $16 each at that sale among others.
So by the time I actually got a player I had about twenty DVDs to watch on it.

My first DVD was Tsui Hark's ZU WARRIORS FROM THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN (Hong Kong, 1983), purchased for $12.50 in Chinatown (NYC) on Jan. 28, 2001, three days before I bought my first DVD player. And yes, I still have it. And more importantly, unlike most of my DVDs, I've actually watched it! (And I'm still using that first DVD player, too!)

I got my first DVD a few months before I got my first DVD player; Criterion's Brazil box-set. And while I've since swapped the first disc in the set with the re-issued anamorphic DVD, I still have the box and the other two discs.

The first cassette tape i got was Olivia Newton-John - Don't Stop Believin'
I still have the tape, that little brush thing wore out so I broke the plastic housing off & put the tape into a blank cassette housing since they had screws.
The first video I got was Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid. I laid back Butch Cassidy & Risky Business, but when I got it out Risky Business turned out to be beta so I had to return it. I still have Butch Cassidy.
The first CD I got was The Rutles. I had about 12 CDs before buying a CD player. Mosly British sixties suff. I still have it.
I do not remember my first LP, 45 or DVD. I'm sure I still have them though.

I think I have three VHS copies of THE WILD BUNCH and only one DVD of it. I'm pretty sure it's the snapper case. I bought it on Feb. 9, 2001, nine days after I bought my first player.

A friend of mine gave me The Matrix and Mystic Pizza several months before I even had a player back in 2001. I've upgraded The Matrix to blu but I still have Mystic Pizza.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?
I bought the Nightmare on Elm Street box set and the Star Trek Next Gen movie box set (was only a trilogy at the time) with my first player. I still have the NoES box, although the first movie has been upgraded twice, first to the Infinifilm, then to the Blu. Of course the original release remains in the box. The Trek set is long gone, first replaced by the 2 disk special editions, then by the Blu set.
Also the purchase of that first player got 5 free DVDs that came in the mail later: Lethal Weapon 4 (still have), Six Days Seven Nights (gone I think), Lost in Space (still have), Stargate (upgraded to UE), and Stepmom (long gone).
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
