I really can't imagine what possible bonus features they could add to get me to dump a couple of C notes on this thing. Perhaps they'll reveal all the hidden bathroom breaks I never saw during the show?

Re: 24: The Complete Series - December 14th

I am at actually at the 24 complete series dvd marathon screening right now at hollywood and highland going on 26 hours since we started yesterday at 9pm.
We are few episodes into season 2 right now.
As ppl get the boot from the marathon which is with 100 consestants, you get get the complete series dvd set to take home with you. I plan on being here all the way till monday and win the big grandprize of 10,000 but even if Iam not the last man standing I still get the box set for free

Once you're finished (win or lose) you should post pics of the box and its contents. Good luck!

Man I wish I was in LA and could've gotten in on that. Good luck!

---

I imagine this set will consist of all the seasons in the recently re-released plastic cases. Similar to the Ally McBeal set.

Thanks I will post a pic of it soon, I left durring the evening yesterday cause I had to work today, so I didnt make it till the end.
(I told myself if we were down to less than 10 people by saturday afternoon that I would call out for work today, but when i left I was either number 18 or 19 I couldnt get a definate number out of the witnesses)
If the official witnesses had been doing there job and eleminating people who had fallen asleep or taken their eyes off the screen longer than 5 seconds then this might have been over allready.

We got a 10 min break every 2 to 2 1/2 hours, and the food was horrible. I stayed awake the entire time, the thing that was killer was sometimes having to hold off going to the restroom.

there are 4 ppl left I really think there will be more than one winner. I am actually thinking it could be the four that are remaining now, which means instead of 10,000 to one person they would get 2,500 each before taxes.

And I think these guys will start poping the energy drinks come morning to last through that final stretch.
pretty much everyone there was cool, though there were a few annoying ones.
I will see about posting pictures of the boxset pretty soon I lasted about 48 hours and my eyes were glued to picture the whole time.

Oh and a lot of u in here would be mortified by the presentation we got with this, basicly it was 4 rows of televisions 3 high each row, to produce one giant image. so you had a very distorted image with what looked like prision bars running all across the image. why they didnt just use a DLP projector and project this is beyond me. I wish they would have offered to also give us the bluray set of season 8 as well, but thats ok I will probably end up selling the season 7 and 8 dvd sets in the box and putting my autographed copy of season7 and the soon to be released season 8 blurays in its place. i like the box itself.

I wish I could have participated. I wouldn't have made it to the end, but it would have been fun to try!

They should've done the contest nationwide, but I bet if they did, the consolation prize would've been less awesome.

Looks like once the three of them beat the record, they just jointly called it quits.

(86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds)

Actually no they didnt just jointly call it quits. The venue was booked for another event that night so it had to be wrapped up at 11:31am
Fox had allready said prior to the start anyone left standing at 11:31am would be the winner, and if there was more than one person they would split the 10,000.
Fox decided though at the last minute to just go ahead and give them all 10,000 each
Although how contestant 1 was not disqualifed several points in the marathon is beyond a lot of contestants.

Re: 24: The Complete Series - December 14th

AmityBoatTours:

Is the season 1 set included in the complete series the special edition that was released 3 years ago?

It should have the following bonus material:

Contains all 24 episodes on 7 discs
Alternate ending to season finale
Exclusive Season 1 intro by Kiefer Sutherland
Commentary on the Series Premiere Episode by Director Stephen Hopkins and Director of Photography Peter Levy
Commentary on the Season Finale Episode by Actress Leslie Hope and Director Stephen Hopkins
Extended and Deleted Scenes
Alternate Ending to the Season Finale Episode
All-New Documentary: The Genesis of 24
There is also a barebones season 1 set that's been out for years and I was interested to see if FOX didn't screw fans out of the special edition season 1 set.

Also, what is on the exclusive bonus disc?

I already own every single season including season 1 special edition. I will pick up season 8 on Tuesday and call it a day on my 24 collection.

$50! That's not happening anytime soon or ever.

Look at the West Wing: The Complete series. It ran 7 seasons and when it came out 4 years ago with an MSRP of $300, it was around $170 on sale, which is the price I paid for it. It's still around $200 bucks in stores like Best Buy and it's never on sale, although you can buy it on Amazon for $144.

Also, The Xfiles: The Complete Series has an MSRP of $329 and can be bought on Amazon for around $150 and it's been out for over 3 years.

or even another FOX product Angel: The Complete series. It's MSRP is $130 and it's being sold for $115 brand new on Amazon and it's also been out for over 3 years.

Complete series sets like this will never ever drop to less than 1/4 MSRP price brand new. That's just nonsense.

Amazon actually sold the West Wing for $75 back in december of 2008 which is 75% off msrp. The other 2 have been cheaper as well. So I don't think it's crazy at all.

I got Angel as a Deal of the Day through Amazon a year ago for under $60, and I think it just went on sale again a few weeks back.

I know they ran an X Files DOTD around the time of the second film, but I can't remember the price.

The point is, an eventual price drop is inevitable. While it may take some time, I could see this dropping to about $80.
