The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!

Bought the SD DVD of this film and the only extras are the deleted scenes. No featurettes like on the BD. To me this just sucks plain and simple. Why we get screwed by these companies is totally beyond me. Its like we are being punished for not converting to BD. Totally pisses me off!!!

They want people to buy the BD. I don't know about other titles but Final Destination comes with a SD version of the movie.

How are you being cheated? It's not as if they advertised SD special features that were nowhere to be found on the disc.

Honestly, I find it nice that they are offering a better package to those who are willing to pay more for a more expensive format.

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!

well, since i switched to blu i luckily won`t have a blood pressure of
5000 over this
still don`t agree with warner`s release policies though!
i doubt that anybody will switch over a few extras of films such as the final destination
why not just give the standard dvd buyers a more expensive special
edition with the extras!? price is the same and money stays in the company
anyhow! i guess they are concentrating all efforts on the new format, with no looking back! unfortunately forgetting that there core clientielle isi still
buying dvds!
although major titles such as dark knight or watchmen to my knowlegde already sell around 1/3 bluray copies on release, i would think that
80-90% of media sold still accounts for standard dvd!?

So true....look, the DVD is on sale this week for $16.99 at Best Buy and Target, OR you can get the BD/DVD/DC combo pack for only $19.99 at those same two stores...for a mere three bucks more, you can future proof yourself so that when you finally do get around to picking up a BD player, then you'll already have the disc to watch with the bonus features then, but you can still have the DVD to watch the movie now....

I wish I had paid the extra $3 today at Best Buy and got that edition. Some day I will have a Blue Ray player (maybe recorder?) but I am not going to spend a lot of money now buying Blue Ray discs.
As WMAangel said, for 19.99 you get both versions. I may not open mine and exchange it.

I would say the people stuck having to watch the special features of "The Final Destination" are the ones getting cheated.

You could have looked on the back of the DVD case and seen what the special features were before buying the DVD if they are that important to you.

You should buy Pulp Fiction. It came with tons of deleted scenes that were horribly long.

In Japan, you can get Austin Powers, on VHS, with the deleted scenes inserted into the movie. That's the first way I watched it. Later on when I watched it on DVD and went to the deleted scenes, I was confused. I'd seen these before in the movie. Went back and realized they weren't there anymore.

Don't you have to buy the " deluxe" version on SD if you want any of the extras these days?

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!

With BD players as cheap as they are now, and BD films being priced cheaper than DVD, I don't understand people that won't switch over based purely on "principle" - but will then bitch and moan when the DVDs aren't as featured packed.

The docs and all of that special crap is always geared towards your movie fan - not some casual schlub. A lot of movie fans have upgraded to Blu-ray, especially this past holiday season. Don't like it? Don't buy in to it, but everyone else will. Bitching on how they're making you change your spending habits and what you buy isn't going to fix anything. It's a tired argument.

Them's the brakes of being a movie fan. I couldn't tell you how many different copies I have of some movies. Shit happens.

Clearly the only option is to go back to the ways of the fiefdom, what with the wandering troubadours and all. That way, if you have a complaint, you can just punch the troubadour in the face.

Yeah this quote says at all.

So far it looks like Whiteout when it comes out in 2 weeks will be carrying the same extras across both discs. Therefore its an easy choice to buy the cheaper DVD version, just like I did with Marine 2 after comparing the 2 movies in Best Buy.

This is why we coined the phrase Buyer Beware.

I've made the switch to free rentals from my local library, augmented by cheap rentals from zip.ca (similar to netflix), largely due to this kind of thing. It hasn't affected my viewing at all, just my bank balance. Maybe you should try the same thing.

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!

I use to be upset by this ... Heck, not just due to the lack of supplements on the DVD vs Blu-ray of the movie, but also the sub-par MPEG-2 transfers that Warners new title division has been foisting on consumers of late. The recent "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" DVD is an (extreme) example of this.

But we upgraded to Blu-ray over the holidays (got a Panny BDP-601 at WalMart for just $128); and I have to admit that the format is quite nice. And WalMart is now selling the Blu-rays of many titles for the same price as their DVD counterparts.

So the bottom line is... I *hate* the way Warners is treating the long time DVD enthusiasts, but I have to admit that I'm now very happy to have a Blu-ray player in my house.
