You cheated yourself by even buying this movie on DVD. Can someone please explain to me why anyone would want to see extras to "The Final Destination?" I can understand seeing the extras for the making of a movie like Avatar or District 9, but what is the behind-the-scenes back story to The Final Destination that someone would be interested in?

Bought the SD DVD of this film and the only extras are the deleted scenes. No featurettes like on the BD. To me this just sucks plain and simple. Why we get screwed by these companies is totally beyond me. Its like we are being punished for not converting to BD. Totally pisses me off!!!

I have really cut down on the number of WB DVDs I buy now because of this.
I wonder how many others have done the same?
I was planning on buying a BR player this past Christmas but plans got screwed up, so that'll have to wait for now.

DVD = the new VHS
Was there ever a movie released on VHS that had some type of making-of after the credits? I could have sworn some VHS movies had that.

The DVD and Blu-ray Disc for the last film feel anemic thanks to Warner taking over.
I mean Final Destination got a great DVD and BD, Final Destination 2 uppped that with the Infinifilm fact tracks on DVD, and the DVD for Final Destination 3 added more with the Choose Your Fate feature.
So what happened?
We get the poor red & blue anaglyph 3D and 2D versions of the film and some very weak extras. Especially the DVD which could have benefitted from the additional featurettes and they could have MOVED the 3D version to another disc so the 2D version of the film could have some interactive features like FD2 & FD3. Hell, the Blu-ray could have pushed that even more with a picture-in-picture track.
Oh well, Warner seems to be making some dumb moves as of late and it will just worse before it gets worse.

I remember I had a copy of Jaws on VHS that was a 2 tape set and had a making of doc or something like that on the second tape.

It really is awful. Warner is definitley the worst. It pisses me off too that we don't get a lot of the special features anymore because they want to bully you into Blu-ray, even tho DVD is still, far and away, the #1 choice for people. Not only do we miss out, but a lot of work that went into the making of extras are now seen by less people. They put a 2 minute preview of the new A Nightmare On Elm Street on the FD Blu-ray, but wouldn't you think they would want to promote the new movie even more by putting it on DVD as well which will sell more?. It's absolutely ridiculous, and the more bullying they get(I'm looking at you Waners!) the less it makes me want to buy any of their stuff.
I think a lot of DVD buyers have just become spoiled.
Things will get worse before it gets worse? I think things will get worse at the same time that things get worse. Otherwise, they would have already gotten worse.

I seem to remember seeing a 2-tape edition of Fargo that came with a snow globe and the second tape (I think) had an audio commentary. I never bought it, but I was always tempted. I think it was released during the last twitches of life of VHS when it was still trying to compete with DVD.

That would have been funny if DVD never came to be but extras got popular - VHS boxsets:
VHS tape 1: Feature film (widescreen letterboxed version)
VHS tape 2: Documentary
VHS tape 3: Feature film with audio commentary voice over dubbing
VHS tape 4: 5 minuts of deleted scenes
VHS tape 5: Feature film (pan and Scan version)
Cassette Tape Bonus: movie soundtrack
All for the retail price of $99!

Thats your opinion! Just because you don't like a particular film, don't go generalizing and cutting people down for their particular choice of entertainment!!! TO EACH HIS OWN! I only feel cheated out of not getting the extras the BD has, not the film choice! "Nuff Said"-

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
hmm. I find this thread fascinating. Blu-ray owners view they are being 'shafted' by not getting the special features ported from the SD versions. Now SD owners seem to have similar feelings about not getting special features ported from the BD versions.
Whenever new technology in introduced, these challenges always crop up.
1) do we limit special stuff only to the new technology, as a 'bonus' for using the new technology and as an incentive to move people off the old?
2) do we ensure both formats have exactly the same content until the old format is officially pronounced 'dead?"
If you think about it, if special stuff is only on one format then that involves additional expense to the consumer. If the special is only on SD, then the BD folks will have to buy both the SD and BD disc to get everything. If the special is only on the BD, then the SD folks will have to invest in a BD player to get everything.
From my opinion, and that is all that it is folks, is that I think it makes sense to have 'special stuff' only on the new format. otherwise, there is even less incentive for people to invest in the new format.
Blu-ray is really a strange beast, imho. The players can play both SD and BD, but it's really not being marketed like this. In reality, there is no reason why all SD players shouldn't be recalled from the stores and only BD players would be available to the public. Seriously - what is the harm in this? You can get BD players as low as $100 now..It IS a new format, and actually I was pleasantly surprised to find out it can play the old format as well. Yet people are still viewing this whole thing as "I just invested $$$ dollars over xxx years for my SD collection - if people think I am going to re-buy/upgrade all of these to BD they are crazy.' Of course, that is not needed.
Perhaps the real issue is that despite Blu-ray's success, the studios are still on the fence in this matter. Not sure where to really invest in. So they play both sides, so to speak, but are not even doing this consistently.
I speak, btw, as a SD owner who has not invested in Blu-ray yet. (my reason is that my HT equipment is so old that none of has HDMI or even optical connections, so I would have to invest in new projectors, receivers, etc. which I am not ready to do right now. Otherwise, I would have jumped all over this already). But I do understand why studios would put more stuff into BD than SD. And I personally don't feel cheated anymore when special cuts of film were only available on DVD and not VHS. Some may feel that comparison is not valid, but BD is - being marketed at least - as the new technology that -logically - should replace SDs over time.
Thank you for listening.

I consider myself more pro-SD, if one had to choose, but buy a lot of BD as well. I'm also a bit of a special features junkie.
But I would never expect SD to have the same amount of special features as BD. In fact, even if I was all SD and anti-BD, I would still expect the BD to have more 'stuff'. We all expected DVD to have a lot more content than VHS, and it just seems natural to have the same with BD.

Ideally, I think if it's:
1) Technically possible for an extra to function on DVD (obviously, features relying on Blu-ray interactivity would be exempt)
2) That an extra can be included on a disc without compromising the video quality of the main feature
3) And, to be nice to the studio, if it doesn't require an additional expense on their part (another disc or whatever to accommodate a small amount of material)
...then those sorts of extras should be on both the DVD and the BD. "Couldn't make it work" or "Couldn't make it fit" -- I don't have a problem there, but witholding from DVD just for the sake of withholding...? I do think that's annoying.
I don't think the VHS analogy really works because VHS is designed for linear play...it's not built to accommodate extras. It's not the DVD isn't capable in a lot of these cases.
I do admittedly buy virtually everything on Blu-ray, though. I'd also like for the most recent version of a release to be "definitive" and include as many extras from earlier editions as possible, and I definitely find it frustrating when a Blu-ray release loses extras from the DVD.

In this particular case, DVD buyers received the film in 2D as well as 3D and got some deleted scenes. It's not like it was barebones, like many Blu-rays that have been released while the SD counterparts are loaded. I think one of the main reasons why many Blu-ray supporters would get so angry that extras were dropped on the Blu-ray is because it's not a good idea to provide less extras to people when you are trying to get them to buy into a new format. Even if it's just a couple of featurettes, like in this case, it makes sense to give a little bit more to the people who are often spending more for the movie and who have invested more money into upgrading their equipment as well.

exactly!
paid 2 bucks to see this drunk at a 2nd-run theater and it was quite possibly the worst thing i've ever seen in a theater. things did look up when we started watching the film as an unintentional comedy though. it amazes me people would run out on release days and buy this for repeated viewing. hell, wait 2 months and get it for $2 at blockbuster if you must.
