The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
Bought the SD DVD of this film and the only extras are the deleted scenes. No featurettes like on the BD. To me this just sucks plain and simple. Why we get screwed by these companies is totally beyond me. Its like we are being punished for not converting to BD. Totally pisses me off!!!:(

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
blame warner, they always seem to do this to us. Observe got nothing, hell 4 christmases and that shitty zac eferon movie got nothing and the blu got more then a few extras
|
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
They want people to buy the BD. I don't know about other titles but Final Destination comes with a SD version of the movie.
|
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
How are you being cheated? It's not as if they advertised SD special features that were nowhere to be found on the disc.
Honestly, I find it nice that they are offering a better package to those who are willing to pay more for a more expensive format. |

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
well, since i switched to blu i luckily won`t have a blood pressure of
5000 over this :D still don`t agree with warner`s release policies though! i doubt that anybody will switch over a few extras of films such as the final destination :) why not just give the standard dvd buyers a more expensive special edition with the extras!? price is the same and money stays in the company anyhow! i guess they are concentrating all efforts on the new format, with no looking back! unfortunately forgetting that there core clientielle isi still buying dvds! although major titles such as dark knight or watchmen to my knowlegde already sell around 1/3 bluray copies on release, i would think that 80-90% of media sold still accounts for standard dvd!? |

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
I wish I had paid the extra $3 today at Best Buy and got that edition. Some day I will have a Blue Ray player (maybe recorder?) but I am not going to spend a lot of money now buying Blue Ray discs.
As WMAangel said, for 19.99 you get both versions. I may not open mine and exchange it. |
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
this argument is getting so fucking old.

I'm being cheated. Bought a VHS movie and there are no featurettes. To me this just sucks plain and simple. Why we get screwed by these companies is totally beyond me. Its like we are being punished for not converting to DVD. Totally pisses me off!!!

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
I would say the people stuck having to watch the special features of "The Final Destination" are the ones getting cheated.
|
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
You could have looked on the back of the DVD case and seen what the special features were before buying the DVD if they are that important to you.

In Japan, you can get Austin Powers, on VHS, with the deleted scenes inserted into the movie. That's the first way I watched it. Later on when I watched it on DVD and went to the deleted scenes, I was confused. I'd seen these before in the movie. Went back and realized they weren't there anymore. |

It's blue ray, moran. |
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
Don't you have to buy the " deluxe" version on SD if you want any of the extras these days?
|
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
With BD players as cheap as they are now, and BD films being priced cheaper than DVD, I don't understand people that won't switch over based purely on "principle" - but will then bitch and moan when the DVDs aren't as featured packed.
The docs and all of that special crap is always geared towards your movie fan - not some casual schlub. A lot of movie fans have upgraded to Blu-ray, especially this past holiday season. Don't like it? Don't buy in to it, but everyone else will. Bitching on how they're making you change your spending habits and what you buy isn't going to fix anything. It's a tired argument. Them's the brakes of being a movie fan. I couldn't tell you how many different copies I have of some movies. Shit happens. |
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
But by the time he upgrades to Blu, the 3Dformat will be set to go...
What can ya do? |
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
Clearly the only option is to go back to the ways of the fiefdom, what with the wandering troubadours and all. That way, if you have a complaint, you can just punch the troubadour in the face.

So far it looks like Whiteout when it comes out in 2 weeks will be carrying the same extras across both discs. Therefore its an easy choice to buy the cheaper DVD version, just like I did with Marine 2 after comparing the 2 movies in Best Buy. This is why we coined the phrase Buyer Beware. |

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
I've made the switch to free rentals from my local library, augmented by cheap rentals from zip.ca (similar to netflix), largely due to this kind of thing. It hasn't affected my viewing at all, just my bank balance. Maybe you should try the same thing.

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
I use to be upset by this ... Heck, not just due to the lack of supplements on the DVD vs Blu-ray of the movie, but also the sub-par MPEG-2 transfers that Warners new title division has been foisting on consumers of late. The recent "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" DVD is an (extreme) example of this.
But we upgraded to Blu-ray over the holidays (got a Panny BDP-601 at WalMart for just $128); and I have to admit that the format is quite nice. And WalMart is now selling the Blu-rays of many titles for the same price as their DVD counterparts. So the bottom line is... I *hate* the way Warners is treating the long time DVD enthusiasts, but I have to admit that I'm now very happy to have a Blu-ray player in my house. |

I did not know that the transfers to DVD were being degraded as well. Why don't they just stop selling them?

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
I have really cut down on the number of WB DVDs I buy now because of this.
I wonder how many others have done the same? I was planning on buying a BR player this past Christmas but plans got screwed up, so that'll have to wait for now. |
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
DVD = the new VHS
Was there ever a movie released on VHS that had some type of making-of after the credits? I could have sworn some VHS movies had that. |
Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
The DVD and Blu-ray Disc for the last film feel anemic thanks to Warner taking over.
I mean Final Destination got a great DVD and BD, Final Destination 2 uppped that with the Infinifilm fact tracks on DVD, and the DVD for Final Destination 3 added more with the Choose Your Fate feature. So what happened? We get the poor red & blue anaglyph 3D and 2D versions of the film and some very weak extras. Especially the DVD which could have benefitted from the additional featurettes and they could have MOVED the 3D version to another disc so the 2D version of the film could have some interactive features like FD2 & FD3. Hell, the Blu-ray could have pushed that even more with a picture-in-picture track. Oh well, Warner seems to be making some dumb moves as of late and it will just worse before it gets worse. |

It really is awful. Warner is definitley the worst. It pisses me off too that we don't get a lot of the special features anymore because they want to bully you into Blu-ray, even tho DVD is still, far and away, the #1 choice for people. Not only do we miss out, but a lot of work that went into the making of extras are now seen by less people. They put a 2 minute preview of the new A Nightmare On Elm Street on the FD Blu-ray, but wouldn't you think they would want to promote the new movie even more by putting it on DVD as well which will sell more?. It's absolutely ridiculous, and the more bullying they get(I'm looking at you Waners!) the less it makes me want to buy any of their stuff.
I think a lot of DVD buyers have just become spoiled.

Re: The Final Destination SD-We get cheated again!!!
That would have been funny if DVD never came to be but extras got popular - VHS boxsets:
VHS tape 1: Feature film (widescreen letterboxed version) VHS tape 2: Documentary VHS tape 3: Feature film with audio commentary voice over dubbing VHS tape 4: 5 minuts of deleted scenes VHS tape 5: Feature film (pan and Scan version) Cassette Tape Bonus: movie soundtrack All for the retail price of $99! |
