But to be honest, I know Seven is widely considered a horror film, but that isn't really what I would label it. I wouldn't label Silence of the Lambs as horror either. They both seem more like psychological thrillers or crime thrillers to me. I guess the killings and the gore put them into that category. But then why don't more serial killer procedurals, basically a genre by itself, qualify as horror, like all those cheesey Ashley Judd ones and such?
Going back to the lowered expectations from earlier, I have a prime example, Turistas. The only reason I even have it is because it was free. Just from what I knew of it and the 4.8 IMDb rating I was fully expecting it to be awful. Turned out it wasn't so bad after all. Mediocre maybe, but not anything close to what I expected.

The Body Snatcher - Another fine performance by Karloff. Story is a bit basic, but definitely suffices. Lugosi is a bit wasted and the ending is a tad predictable as you see it, but still cool.
The Gorgon - It's a bit (well, quite a bit) dull in parts, but Lee's hammy performance is almost at Loomis like proportions and the scenes with Megaera were all fuggin' great. Not to mention cool cinematography. This is definitely the little Hammer that could (I remember wanting a VHS of this one so bad years ago) and I respect it for being something a bit different than their norm. Ultimately, as much as I do enjoy their films, it is again another example of why I find AIP superior to Hammer in most cases; they just move along quicker and Price is a more interesting character actor.
Onibaba - A great film, but not traditional horror in the least.

I found a bunch of those DVDs for $5 each at Walmart today and thought about buying them.

I really like PURGATORY. HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER is an interesting choice, caligulagod. I would also definitely consider MACBETH (especially the Polanski version) a horror film.

I'm finding myself conflicted. Amazon just marked down the Friday the 13th Pt. 3 Blu-ray. I want to get it, but I always told myself I was going to wait until the inevitable big boxset. Not sure if I feel like waiting anymore.

There are several good-to-awful horror Westerns: Dead Birds, a bunch of Confederates on the run encounter a Lovecraftian monster; Curse of the Undead, a preacher fights a vampire gunfighter; Deadwalkers, cowboy zombies; Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter; Billy the Kid Meets Dracula.

Just wondering here, if it is considered a horror movie
i'd use it for my list. I never thought to use
Purgatory as a horror movie. What do you think?

I watched an old bootleg I had of Night of the Comet last night at my gf's house. We let it run through the end credits and afterwards a 2 1/2 min. video came on of Kelli Maroney working out... topless. We were surprised, to say the least.

I had the same conflict. This is what I did: Best Buy has it on DVD for $9.99, so I opted for that one for now (I really like the slipcover), and will get the BD when it is a boxset. That way I have the movie with a cool cover, and I'll eventually end up with four "Jason" 3-D glasses.

I just watched Undead or Alive and I actually liked it. I know it's over the top and stupid but it was fun and Brian Posehn as a zombie? So awesome.

Good mail day - Trick 'r Treat, Audition, Drag Me to Hell, Happy Birthday to Me and Karloff & Lugosi Horror Classics.
I was expecting some Netflix to catch up on a few 31 Films titles, but they're dragging their asses as usual.

I forgot to add Trick 'R Treat to my queue until the other day. I doubt I'll get it in time for this month, 'very long wait'.

I just ordered Trick OR Treat. I plan to have a rock 'n roll triple feature later in the challenge = Trick or Treat - Rock 'N Roll Nightmare - Black Roses

I know it's been a mixed bag on these boards, but I just got done watching Trick R' Treat and it lived up to all my expectations.
It was a whole lot of fun and one scene in particular had me laughing and grinning ear to ear.
