Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Don't forget WCW had some sweet Iron Man matches too. Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude from Beach Blast 92, and Rick Rude vs. Dustin Rhodes from Beach Blast 93. Benoit vs. Angle from Backlash 2001 had a 30 minute one as well. Also I am thinking that Shane Douglas vs. Sabu vs. Terry Funk from The Night The Line Was Crossed 94 could be considered an Iron Man match too.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Just thought I'd pass along some cheap DVD finds. I was at Walmart today and they are apparently trying to hype the Batista DVD as they have several of the PPV DVDs that featured him on the cover for only 7 bucks and some change. Ones I remember where Armageddon 2007 and Unforgiven 2008. They have stickers on them promoting the Batista DVD coming soon.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

I don't think an Iron Man match would sell well with the casual wrestling fans. I'd like to see a Best of Masked Superstars DVD or a Best of Face Painted Superstar DVD.

watching the new smackdown dvd, and its hilarious. Rock and Sock connection vs. New age outlaws. Road Dogg attempts a pump handle slam on Mankind, but before he does he bends him over and humps his ass. LOLOLOLOL.

In chronological order, my favorites are:

SummerSlam 2002
WrestleMania XIX (my favorite all-time ppv)
WrestleMania 21
SummerSlam 2005
WrestleMania XXIV

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Every list should begin with Wrestlemania X7. That is easily one of the best PPV's WWE has ever done, let alone the past 10 years.

In chronological order:

- WrestleMania X-Seven
- SummerSlam 2002
- Survivor Series 2002
- WrestleMania XX
- WrestleMania XXIV

I don't think I need to give any explanations as to why I chose those events.

Road Dogg used to do this all the time until he was told to stop by WWE.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

ill give my top 4, i dont think any wwe ppv touches these four, if you think otherwise please give valid points

wrestlemania 17-top to bottom maybe the best ppv ever, end of the attitude era, i cant say anything more, this was a great event bar none

summerslam 02-maybe the 2nd best opener ever to a ppv
hbk/hhh classic match and emotional return of hbk
great main event lesnar gets the title and would still be the best thing going if he never left
rvd/benoit was great and the rest was solid

wrestlemania 19-top to bottom comes very close to mania 17, a handfull of really great matches, instead of just 1 or 2

survivor series 02-msg was rocking and a great tables match opener
lesnar/show was short but sick and the rest of the mid card was solid
first ever chamber match, still the best imo

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Well for top 5 ppv's of the last 10 years would go like this for me...

1. Wrestlemania X7 - As I seen so far on here everyone has picked this event and it really is one of the best Wrestlemania's to just sit down and watch every match and be entertained by it.

2. Summerslam 2002 - Every match again has a meaning, and even a lackluster tag team like Booker T & Goldust still made the Tag Title match enjoyable to watch. Every match was a main event match too pretty much on that show.

3. Wrestlemania 20 - I still will always hold this event high on my list even after the tragic Benoit ordeal. Because at that time in 2004, seeing Benoit finally win the big one and celebrating with Guerrero in the ring after, was really an awesome feeling and a great thing to see. Plus the event itself is like close to 5 hours long, and it has a lot of fun, entertaining, physical matches in it.

4. Royal Rumble 2004 - HBK vs. Triple H was awesome!! The Rumble itself was probably the best Rumble match in a long time. Plus having Benoit vs. Orton starting it out, almost foreshadowing what was to come at Summerslam 2004 was cool to see. And look at the final combatants in that Rumble. Jericho, Big Show, Cena, Angle, RVD and Benoit. That was a stacked Rumble of great talent. And seeing Benoit win it to head to Mania was pretty cool too.

5. No Way Out 2009 - Two awesome Elimination Chamber matches. Plus see Edge lose the WWE Title in one, only to come back and get involved in the second one to win the World Title was pretty sweet and unexpected by most.

Also I think that ECW One Night Stand 2005 should get honorable mentioning. Hey, it may have been an ECW show but we all know it was a WWE ppv event. That was an awesome 3 hours of wrestling and flash backs to the past. I can easily watch that dvd still and enjoy it.

Maybe we should do a top 5 Worst WWE PPV's from the 2000 era's too. I am sure most would pick Great American Bash 2004 as the top one, maybe ECW December 2 Dismember as a close second haha

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

This is going to sound funny, but I've found WM X7 to be a bit over-rated. It certainly had some highlights, and maybe it's because I wasn't watching wrestling at the time, but the truth is, the best parts of the show are:

-Benoit vs. Angle
-Shane vs. Vince
-TLC 2
-Rock/Austin

As much as the rest of the card is stacked, I never got much out of UT/HHH, and the show doesn't really get going until Guerrero/Test.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Alrighty, so who was demanding a DVD dedicated specifically to John Morrison of all people?

Hey WWE Universe, the WWE home video team wants to hear from you as they prepare to produce the first-ever DVD featuring current Intercontinental Champion John Morrison.

Send us your questions by posting on this thread, and pickup the John Morrison DVD on Feb 16th to see if John chooses one of your questions to answer.

Seems a tad early for a JoMo dvd, but it just really tells you that they are planning on pushing him really hard in the next 6 months.

There's a lot of good MNM/Johnny Nitro stuff as well and there's probably lots of unused Tough Enough footage, so it's not like there's much of a shortage. The guy's been on the main roster almost 5 years and been involved with the WWE for 7 and half years. Add a buttload of Dirt Sheets and you could have an awesome DVD.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

jammer good list but disagree

wrestlemania 20 on paper was great, but it was a letdown ppv, the main event was great but most of the undercard really was underwelming, goldberg/lesnar sucked

no way out 2009 i think the best ppv of the year, but not the decade, 2 matches just isnt enough to be in the top 5

royal rumble 04 i forgot about this, a really good ppv, in my top 10 for sure

but thats just my humble opinion, but can u tell me what makes wrestlemania 20/no way out 2009 better than survivor series 02 and wrestlemania 19
those 2 events just had top to bottom better shows

Someone is going to tell you guys that their's a thread for wrestling talk and this thread is just for talking about wrestling DVDs. Personally I think any wrestling talk in here is fine but not everyone feels the same way.

If I could choose a sixth, it would most probably be ECW One Night Stand 2005.
