This year's Kickstarter is up. They're doing the Jean Claude Van Damme "Classic" Timecop!

I'm in for $40. That's our usual place, plus tickets to the broadcast theater show.

I'm in at the T-shirt level, which I have been doing the last couple. For some reason I'm feeling tempted to bump it up another 50 bucks or so to get my name on the big screen. Don't know why.

I've considered that several times, but never feel compelled to do so. At sone point, they will riff a truly favorite guilty pleasure movie and I'll go for it.

See, that would've been Rad for me, and that was the first time I went to the T-shirt level. Now I'm feeling like if I'm throwing in 150 or so every year, what's another 50 bucks? lol.

Fun show tonight, we enjoy making this an annual August tradition with some extended family. Not as big of a crowd as usual however. Wow, Time Cop is bad. I remember it wasn't great, but it is just plain bad.
Fun to see our teeny tiny names on the pre-show slides as backers.
Kevin was at our screening again this year. Snuck in, sat toward the front as it started, pretty cool.

I wouldn't say Time Cop is bad.
It fun, some of it is a mess but it's still a fun movie.

I was with my son at a concert last Thursday, so I saw the replay yesterday. Yeah, there were 2 other people there besides us. It was fun though. I think I may have enjoyed The Policeman is my Friend better than Timecop though, lol. And I don't get there early enough to see the pre-show slides, but I did see my name in the post show credits (yeah, I went for it, lol). I didn't spring for the picture, but my name was there.

I found Timecop to be sort of a poor choice. I don't know, their jokes really weren't clicking like they normally do. I definitely think it picked up in the second half of the movie, but my wife and I weren't getting as into it as when I took her to Hobgoblins.

Different movies click hit differently for different people. I wouldn't call this any where close to their best effort, but personally, I didn't really like Hobgoblins much at all.

Altneraversal (Joel Hodgson) has sold their share of MST3K to Radial Entertainment (Shout Studios & FilmRise).
Press release:

Press release:

Radial Entertainment, the entertainment company formed from the merger of Shout! Studios and FilmRise, has obtained full ownership over the “Mystery Science Theater 3000” brand from creator Joel Hodgson’s Alternaversal.
“MST3K” had been jointly owned by Alternaversal and Shout! Studios since late 2015. Radial’s purchase includes all brand assets and intellectual property and follows nearly two decades of Shout!’s multichannel distribution of “MST3K” content. The amount of the final buyout was undisclosed.
Since its national debut in 1989, the long-running “MST3K” series involves a man trapped on a space station with a group of robots who are tasked with watching and commenting on bad movies. Through various cast changes over the years, the series has run for 230 episodes across 14 seasons, plus a feature film.
Since forming their partnership, Shout! and Alternaversal have spearheaded a variety of successful “MST3K” initiatives, including a three-season revival of the series (two of which debuted on Netflix), two crowdfunding campaigns, several national live tours, and the “MST3K” FAST channel.
“Mystery Science Theater 3000 is a hugely influential comedy series that continues to gain fans with each new generation,” said Michael Ribas, SVP of marketing and product management at Shout! Studios. “As fans ourselves, we’re eager to continue developing growth opportunities for ‘MST3K’ and look forward to taking the Satellite of Love into the future.”
Radial’s long-term growth strategy for “MST3K” includes new content development, merchandise licensing, and content syndication to international territories. Hodgson will remain involved with the property as brand ambassador and consultant.
“I’ve been incredibly lucky to spend my adult life making a living as an entertainer, and ‘MST3K’ has been a big part of it,” Hodgson said. “Creating your own comedic art form like ‘MST3K’ is deeply fulfilling and fun — but that doesn’t mean I’m required to work on it every day for the rest of my life. This move feels like the best way to encourage ‘MST3K’ to find its future, while I find mine, including the chance to focus on some new and different projects with fewer moving parts.”

I guess with Hodgson no longer in the picture, Radial Entertainment looked to the alternative.
RiffTrax Makes MST3K! — Four NEW episodes in 2026!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ax-makes-mst3k
Something colossal is happening in the not-too-distant future — Mystery Science Theater 3000: The RiffTrax Experiments! For the past two decades, we’ve been serving up fresh movie riffs as RiffTrax, but in celebration of our 20th anniversary this year, we’re going back to where it all began.
We’re thrilled to announce that for 2026, in partnership with Shout! Studios, we will be making FOUR brand-new episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000! Mike Nelson is returning as host, alongside Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett as his robot friends Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot.
The entire production will take place this spring/summer in Minnesota with Mike, Kevin, and Bill as creative leads. We'll be building all-new, hand-crafted sets and props. And the hilarious MST3K host segments WILL, of course, be back! We plan to release all four episodes by the end of 2026.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
As excited as I am to see the Robots back, I am a little disappointed that there will be no Rifftrax live events this year.
Also, the cost of rewards seems to be way up from previous Kickstarters.

It's already close to 700k.
This must be Shout trying to breath new life into Mst3k since the last KS from Joel didn't get completed.

I've never seen that one, but as soon as I saw an oiled-up muscle dude with a sword, I was sold. Looking forward to these new experiments with Mike.

They just announced that Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff will be back as Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank for the fourth episode of this revival, writing on that episode as well.

Excellent news, Dr Forrester and Frank is probably my favorite combination of Mads.
