Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
I’ve always considered myself a true and Uber fan, but might pass as well. I love the new stuff and am ok with the Gizmoplex stuff, but just not sure I need to see the new content asap. I have every media release and still love the old stuff, and have a bunch of unwatched episodes too.

They're at $1.4 million now. That's less than a 1/3 towards the initial goal of $4.8 million for 6 episodes, and only 18% the way to getting 12 episodes. They need your money NOW, not later down the road when it's too late.

We're at the halfway mark and they're sitting at 33% of the 4.8 (six episode) goal. So not great, at the moment. As soon as the SAG-AFTRA union/studio deal is voted in (if it's done in time) they'll be able to kick their 'publicity' into over-drive, for what little time they have left. Most online crowdfunding (on kickstarter, at least) get a boost near the end of the drive; if it happens here maybe they'll get enough for at least six episodes. We know they'll deliver if they get funded.

It’s not at 2m yet with only three days left with a goal of $4.8m
Today Joel sent out an email that says they can move production to LA and save $800,000 but it still doesn’t look like there getting to $4m in three days.

They're at 56% (2.2 million) today with two days left. So, plausible, eh; possible, why not? We'll see when we cross the finish line Saturday night. Better six episodes than zero episodes.

$2,715,304 with 18419 contributors. An average of about $148 per pledge.
By contrast, their Kickstarter for season 13 raised $6,519,019 with 36,581 backers. An average of about $178 per pledge.
So their last Kickstarter had about twice as many backers, but also raised more per backer.
There's been some discussion on the MST3K forums for reasons why they didn't do as well:
The hope is that maybe they can collect themselves, regroup, think about what went wrong, and try again. Else it's probably bye-bye to new MST3K.

There's been some discussion on the MST3K forums for reasons why they didn't do as well:
- Bad time of year, too close to the holidays. People have a bit less free cash at this point, as it's going towards presents.
- Just not a good time economically, in general
- Moving away from Kickstarter really lowered the visibility of the campaign
- Starting it with the actor's strike still on meant they didn't have the cast to draw on for publicity.
- People wary of the new platform for pledges
- Some people didn't like how long it took to receive certain physical rewards
- Confusion about the Gizmoplex, thinking that was to be the source of funding for future seasons.
The hope is that maybe they can collect themselves, regroup, think about what went wrong, and try again. Else it's probably bye-bye to new MST3K.
