Spring Break (1983) - 8/18/09!!
Probably my favorite of the many spring break comedies from the 80's. This one definitely conjures up an infectious atmosphere of dumb fun & brings back those nostalgic days of the 80's. I sure hope the original soundtrack remains intact.

Holy shit. No way! Awesome news. Thanks for posting. I watched this movie so many times back in the 80's when it was on HBO like 4 times a day. I even attempted to buy a VHS copy a couple years ago on Ebay, figuring it was never coming out on DVD. Luckily, the seller never sent it and I got my money back.
Now if someone would just fucking release Rad already.

Winter is my enemy
The beach is where I'd rather be
Lots of sand
and lots of swimmin'
One long beach just filled with women
Looking forward to seeing this again.

And I already mentioned both over a month ago in the What Are You STILL Waiting For? thread over a month ago. http://forum.dvdtalk.com/9512356-post520.html)
Doesn't really matter - it's all good, and I'm still psyched about it.

Speaking of the music, I just recently moved and in unpacking discovered a ton of stuff I forgot I had, including the Spring Break soundtrack on vinyl, still sealed. Dare to dream.

Just found a near mint copy last year, while visiting my brother in Florida, along with a Movie Theater Press kit at some little hole in the wall Comics & collectibles shop near Daytona Beach. Only cost me a couple of bucks, and it came with all the Lobby cards and a movie synopsis and cast & credits list.

I'd offer to buy it from you if I didn't already own two copies, myself.

I just found out that Steve Bassett (OT) is working as an actor in the theater on the revival of West Side Story!
Anyone that gets this early PLEASE comment on Audio and PQ!! I can't wait to get this...

Re: Spring Break (1983) - 8/18/09!!
Nice review overall.
I do have a couple of real nit-picky contentions with some of it - i.e. - the video game Nelson and Susie bond over was Galaga, not Space Invaders. As far as Eddie's purpose, he is the brother-in law of the Hotel's owner, Geri, and he's trying to get it away from her. He's basically doing dirty work for Dalby, who will in return do what he can to help get Eddie the Hotel as payment. Stuff like that. Granted, in all fairness, I'm sure most folks haven't watched this movie as many times as I have over the last 25 years - but that in mind, a pretty solid write-up. It's far better than some summaries I've seen written for it, which don't even sound like they're describing the same movie.
The DVD presentation sounds about what I was expecting, especially at a budget price. Think I'll be pleased with it nonetheless. It will certainly be better than my very washed out looking VHS version.

I updated my review with the information you provided, and bonus information from Anchor Bay's Maria Kay (or Mariakay) and Jeff Garlin himself.

One thing that has always annoyed me about the movie in the VHS version of the movie I have seen (probably more than I dare say) is at the beginning there looks like there is a piece of string or a hair over the beginning credits around the time they show the Spring Break logo is that still there?

Re: Spring Break (1983) - 8/18/09!!
Got my copy today, and I must say I'm VERY pleased.
Compared to my original VHS copy, the DVD is a revelation. Finally, the colors look the way they should - especially noticeable during one pre-dawn scene during a discussion between Nelson and Adam after the previous night's festivities, where the colors of a sun rise actually looks like a sun rise would. No more washed out, faded viewing of the film for me. Plus, equally nice to finally see the picture in Widescreen for the first time time since it's movie theater run. And, for anyone who wanted to know, yes, all the original soundtrack is still in place, too, with no changes.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. For anyone else who cares about such things, I saw copies in both a white and black Amary cases. The white one, which I opted for, also had an additional sticker on the front proclaiming "On DVD for the first time!".

I preordered a copy - hasn't come yet. I'll probably pick up another copy for a spare
and pray that The Wild Life will be eventually released on DVD.

Sweet, thanks for confirming this
