The Oscar nominations will be announced on the 24th. If there aren't any objections, I'll start the discussion thread tomorrow (the 13th). Though, if anyone else has a burning desire to run the Oscar Challenge let me know.

Romance Music Musicals list thread is live. I know this is one of those years it completely overlaps with Oscars, but no one is obligated to participate in both. And I still save romance and music stuff for Feb.

I don't mind the overlap. Lots of dual-eligible stuff, and running them concurrently gives me built-in directions to go to keep from getting burnt out on either theme.

The Oscar Challenge is chugging along just fine. Will we have an Action/Adventure Challenge in March? It's usually in March righ?

I’ll check and see who’s run it lately. Worse case scenario I’ll do a cut-n-paste thread for it in a day or three.

LookGreg MacGuffin was doing it after my mediocre initial years, then shadokitty then Travis McClain with the last minute threads creation last year. Any takers?

I could be this year's 'guest host'. This is one of the simpler Challenges; pretty much anything goes. I'd probably run it lean and mean ie no graphics and I might re-use last years checklist or at most make minor changes to it. There's less than a week to sunset the 28th. I may not be the best choice, but I may be the only choice

I'm ready to create the discussion and list thread now, if no one has any objections. I'll wait until 12:00 pm CT if anyone else wants to step up.

I've posted the 12th Annual DVDTalk Action/Adventure/Crime/Mystery Challenge discussion and list threads. What's the process to getting the list moved to the sticky threads section and the discussion pinned to the top of the normal threads?

If one of the mods doesn’t pin the list thread automatically, just PM them. Giles and Dex are this forum’s mods.

We don’t pin the discussion threads, they tend to stay near the top. But I guess one of the unofficial jobs of the thread runner is to try to keep the conversation moving all month.

I was told the best way is to use the Report Post button on the list OP. It sounds scary because it says it’s only for spam and stuff, but it has worked for me.

The 16th Annual Sci-fi/Fantasy discussion thread has been posted here.

Would love some feedback on the checklist! I will get the list thread up in about a week or so.

Been absent for a few months, thanks, as always, for keeping things running everyone! Have been participating monthly in absentia, and will posts my meager lists someday for OCD reasons.

Will there be a posting for the Arthouse/Criterion Challenge? Just wondering.

Yes! Sorry, didn’t realize how late it was. I messaged Travis to see if he wants to do it again. Barring that, I’ll cut and paste last years stuff up tomorrow.

Will there be a TV on DVD Challenge this year? seems like there was usually a thread by now.

edit: If no one objects, i'll make a Discussion and List thread. I'll wait till tomorrow like at 12 pm CT to see if anyone else is going to do it.

Just now saw your edit. That works for me. I was just coming to the thread to offer myself. With everything going on in my life right now though, I'm happy to let someone else do it.

The Oscar nomination are going to be announced on January 23. I will run the Challenge unless someone else is interested in taking up the mantle.

I thought about watching a potential nominee last night then wondered when the noms were going to be announced.

It's going to be a long challenge this year since the Ceremony isn't until March 10. Plenty of time to watch a LOT of stuff.
