There's no reason at all to not watch the first one. Don't forget about the hidden alternate ending hidden on the disc.

By the third minute, I felt like I had been watching it for at least an hour already.

To sum it up, the gang is at the restaurant and they meet some kid that needs $50,000 for his uncle's farm. The italian that runs that local Chuck E Cheese's place used to do the space race, that conveniently is getting ready to take place. They all fly into space to meet his old co-pilot and use his old racing ship, think pod racing.

There's two buff guys that have been caught cheating in the past with Austrian accents and are the guys to beat. They've done vector 2 speeds!!! They're managed by some guy that's some sort of mastermind.

For some reason, the two bad dudes think the chicken girl is hot and end up kidnapping her. Races are won, farms are saved, and the chicken is rescued.

It was one of the worst things I watched in a long time. The sets are half real, half poorly done cgi for whatever time period this was made(apparently it was release in 1999 and sold only at Target and the restaurant).

It's like watching the worst Asylum video that's ever existed on VHS that you rented but the previous renter spliced in a few Chuck E Cheese commercials and musical numbers.

I didn't know about this. I watched Critters for one of the horror challenges. I may have to pull it out again soon to check this out.

Awesome review MP! I'm going to check to see if I have enough room in my sig to add that quote.

The first one was a decent little genre film, but the kid really began to wear on me by the end of Part II. His ridiculously red mullet was quite distracting, and the supporting characters were much weaker the second time around.

I haven't watched the sequels since they came out but I remember they weren't nearly as good as the first. I also remember a bunch of films by that company had sequels that all took place in space around the same time, like Critters and Leprechaun.

It was just so horrible I can't recommend it unless someone is drinking heavily or on strong pain medication, their eyes are glazed over and it to much effort to change it to something else. If anyone needs to watch it just once, that's the only way it should be done.

And here's a clip for you

yeah, bought volume 1 to watch for the challenge - didn't realize that the pilot episode is not technically placed first - have to watch that too!!

the commentary is great (say versus the boring director commentary for... Predator 2 *snore*). Will definately check out his other films and commentary for said dvds.

felt nostalgic and watched and listened to the commentary for 'Return from Witch Mountain' this afternoon - very entertaining since the two leads are part of the reflections of the making of the film. I saw this theatrically in 1978 and I was an instant fan.

Thanks for reminding me of these! Loved them as a kid, also remember seeing them in the theater, Vienna most likely, but keep putting off watching the DVDs for some reason. This month for sure.

National Amusement theatres are having their summer 'Attack of the B Movies' series starting the latter end of July and through August - the double billed films for the two July dates are 'Devil Girl from Mars' / 'The Bride and the Beast' (July 23) and 'Teenagers from Outer Space' / 'Robot Monster' (July 30) - unfortunately unlike last year, none of the Virginia locations are hosting this

Sucks that it won't be in Fairfax like last year. Although I can't blame them. I went pretty much every week last year, and we never had more than 20 people at a showing, most nights only 5 or so.

Let's just put it this way: I now have a sudden interest in listening to the radio series, reading all the books, playing the computer game, reading the comic books and possibly even catching a stage show someday if possible. And you gotta love that chronically depressed robot!

BTW, it's available on 'Watch Instantly' if you're a Netflix subscriber.

Sweet! Now I won't even have to open the set that has been sitting on my shelf for 6 or so years.

I watched MST3K: The Mad Monster last night. That was hard to get through, I fell asleep a few times. The jokes weren't that bad but the movie was just soooo slow.

Yeah, some of the movies they riff are painfully bad. I think you have to get your mind in the mode that you're not watching the old movie, but you're watching the bots. Maybe this is easier for me because I met Joel and the bots back when they were first getting popular.

Thanks for the reminder. Part of my unwatched film goal is 3 of these per month, I just went thru my collection and picked out 3 sci-fi ones. Although I think we decided they all count, regardless of riffed movie genre.

Hey, you're supposed to be in a theater watching Khan right now!

Did you see Moon earlier? I think I'll be hitting it tonight.

no that's at 9:30pm, yeah I saw Moon and Bruno over at Hoffman at noon and 2 - I'm home now trying to think about if I have the energy to see 'Khan' tonight - since I had only one hour of sleep last night, just couldn't fall asleep, I should have used all those hours and watched some DVD's.

the medium popcorn during 'Moon' kept me awake but right after I finished the bag, I promptly slipped into a quick 5min cat nap.

Good thing I didn't drive there when I planned, had 6 on the brain for some reason.

Just walked out of Moon and think I loved it.

Trailer for Surrogates looks interesting.

Oh I know... i feel the same way. It wasn't as bad last year, as the year before. But if you did come up with a list that big, I would be more inclined to believe you since you been on this site a long time. It's when the person has that many and its their first post.

Reminder to any gamers in here that Red vs Blue would count. I've been meaning to watch these DVDs for years now. I'm going to watch them on my PS3 for the irony.

I must be gettin old(er) the Horror Film Challenge last year wiped me out, I was so exhausted 3/4's of the way through - kudo's to those folk who can devote such a tremendous amount of time just vedging in front of a tv.

I think I'm going to watch and count something that no one would object to. I have several digital comic books, sort-of movies that are the art/script of comic book with added animation and sound. They have a movie length runtime, but aren't technically movies I guess. But a few are sci-fi themed, and I've been meaning to watch them for years. Sound fair?

Sounds good to me, Trevor.

Hard to believe that I'm still ever so slightly under pace for 100 after I'll I've watched in the first 2 weeks of the challenge. I've got Thursday and Friday off for the next 3 weeks though so I'm hoping I should be able to easily pass that benchmark.
