Re: What are your true guilty pleaure DVDs in your collection?

Battlefield: Earth - funny story. I actually met the producer of this movie about six months before it came out, when it looked like it could be one of the big hits of summer '00. Two weeks before release, I was given a free pass, so I got to see it in advance. I thought it was pretty silly, but nowhere near deserving of all its hate.

Finally, a couple of years later, I was with one of my friends shortly after Christmas. We were in blockbuster, and she said "I never bought you a present." So I saw BE, picked it up, and she got it for me.

When I came home and showed it to my mom, and said "look what Lacey bought me," my mom replied "I thought she was your friend."

I have a lot that are guilty pleasures. Smallville is probably the best, even though it's really popular. I also have all the seasons of Hercules and Xena.

For movies, I like a lot of bad comedies, and The Brothers Solomon is probably right up there as one that no one else I know seems to like.

Re: What are your true guilty pleaure DVDs in your collection?

Hanzo the Razor - the front cover of the boxset has elicited some responses. Usually hide it but sometimes I haven't.
Pinky Violence - with the not so obscure bright vinyl pink cover, it often finds itself at the center of attention. (Most of my other similar films just mix in with the pack unobtrusively).
Killer Pussy - Discotek released the DVD a reversible outside insert - title option is either Sexual Parasite or the former name given. I chose the former.

A few brainless but ridiculously fun Japanese films: Meatball Machine, Tokyo Gore Police, Versus.

My tiny collection of Korean/Japanese *cough* romance *cough* films, like My Sassy Girl, The Classic, Last Life in the Universe.

Beavis and Butthead Do America
i, Robot - Stupid adaption and story but it's a lot of fun. I have the Japanese limited edition ..and proudly display my "Sonny" head.

But I'm not really guilty about owning any of them.

Well they aren't terribly good but I still enjoy them. Plus they are really just kids movies. ALso I usually hate it when kids battle adults in any films. It a pretty silly concept. But nonetheless I like some of the Potter films Particularly 1,3, and 5.

Definitely Chainsaw Hookers. The other two I wouldn't necessarily call "guilty pleasures" per se, but instead refer more to this explanation:

And that's primarily due to what some (not me) would consider 'risque titles'. If my girlfriend's somewhat conservative parents were to see them, it would fall into the category of embarrassing.

My Guiltiest "Guilty Pleasure" is a Bootleg Copy of the 1949 Version of The Blue Lagoon, which is considerably better than that 1980 POS Remake!

If I could travel back in time one of the things I would do would be to secure a copy of the 1980 version of that movie, travel back to 1949, find a theatre showing the origional version, and SWITCH THE COPIES on the unsuspecting audience!

None of the films/DVDs you listed are anything to be considered guilty pleasures. Killer Pussy is a film I've watched quite a few times and usually have on display next to my Gross Fat Fuckers Non-stop Rape Crazy Train! disc... (OK, I think I may have lost a few people, but it's real)

Hanzo the Razor features Rice Rape, so you get a pass on that.

I'd more consider the remake of My Sassy Girl a guilty pleasure than the original, which was a good film.

Well, if I had to find one that I'd be ashamed of it'd be The Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Movie...

..and that's only because it was a favorite when I was younger, and the nostalgia factor alone was worth the $2. Plus, I so wanna bang the pink ranger.

At one point I actually owned 3 copies on dvd (region 1, region 2 from Amsterdam, bootleg from Thailand) because I just needed to show the movie to as many people as possible wherever I was at the time.

I guess my guiltiest pleasure would have to be Footloose...this is actually the first movie I ever owned (on VHS of course). I saved up allowance as a kid and bought the VHS/soundtrack for $40!!! And now you can find the dvd in the $5 bargain bin at Wal-mart.

Would my Leprachaun Pot of Gore set count as well? There's nothing like watching an insane leprechaun spout off rhymes before bludgeoning a guy with a pogo stick.

But my most guiltiest of guilty pleasures would never be owned on dvd. I watch the show with hatred for myself and cover all tracks by not owning a piece of it. The show that shall not be named...hint: it's on the CW (a great place for guilty pleasures I'm sure)

XXX, Doom, The Day After Tomorrow.

Dr. Stinkfluffer's DVD Guide To Stalking Your Friends & Neighbors

actually... i don't think there's anything i'm really embarrassed by at all.

once i DID have a couple of Ben 10 DVDs laying on my TV stand when someone was over and a friend remarked on those... i had borrowed them from my nephew, but i just told my friend i liked to watch Ben 10 and that was pretty much it.

Most titles here I can't see any reason why anyone should raise eyebrows on.

How about this; I'm a 27-year old straight guy (no kids) and I own My Little Pony on DVD.

I'm sure there's lots more, but that's only from the top of the my head. Here's a link to my collection if anyone's interested: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/Beastus

Re: What are your true guilty pleaure DVDs in your collection?

Overnight Delivery - a "comedy" starring Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd; it's extremely unfunny but there's a scene where a Goth-looking Reese does a PG-13 dance at a strip club.

Andersonville - a bad Civil War mini-series; I own it because I was an extra in it.

American Psycho 2/Kingdom of the Spiders - My love for the Shat is the only reason these DVDs are in my collection.

Death Bed: The Bed That Eats - because Patton Oswalt did a funny routine about this movie.

Escape From L.A. - Well I like it.

I own up to owning all the Gilmore Girls and I don't care a lick what anyone thinks about it. It's a great show. You know I even own one or two chick flicks, but, again, it doesn't bother me. You like what you like and I have a pretty great collection if I do say so myself (even if there is still a ton of stuff I'd like to have).

OK, maybe I misspoke. Even I can't overlook this.
