I'm shocked to hear that a fan of the series enjoyed H20. I had high hopes for it since they had Jamie Lee Curtis back, but it just wasn't very good. But then, there hasn't been a good Halloween movie since Halloween 4 (including that mess of a remake).

He said that he had the release with the THX-certified transfer. That is the Dean Cundey-approved version.

Re: Halloween Collection
Resurrection was a terrible movie in its own right, but its mere existence after the incredible finale of H20, and the blatant greed in destroying what could have been the best ending to a horror movie franchise in history, makes it even more of a miserable failure.
I loved H20....it's the best sequel in the series (just slightly better than 4, which I also really liked). |

Re: Halloween Collection
I have to say as well that as a fan of the Original and a fan of the whole series that I enjoyed H20. Maybe it's because I'm really still young (I'm 19) or what but I really enjoyed H20. It was pretty much a more 90's version of the original. Now I did seriously hate Resurrection and it completely ruined H20 from its little prologue ending.

Re: Halloween Collection
What we need is a nice two disc for Halloween 2 just like the Halloween Limited Edition with the lenticular cover.
I want the different/longer television version on the second disc along with some nice extras. They've done so many different releases for Halloween 1 that I can't believe they've done nothing for Halloween 2. We even got an awful cardboard snapper for the case. It's just awful. Don't they know a limited edition for the sequel would sell like hotcakes? |

Re: Halloween Collection
Ah, that explains it. I didn't know that Anchor Bay didn't have the rights.
Universal is really being foolish. They're sitting on what could be a nice release. It's a bloody shame. |
Re: Halloween Collection
I may as well throw my 2 cents in. Here's my Halloween collection, unless some spectacular new Blu-ray editions come out (maybe official producers cut of 6?), I believe I am done with the series.
Halloween - 2-Disc LE w/ Lenticular cover Halloween 2/3 double feature (universal) Halloween 4 - Anchor Bay #'d tin Halloween 5 - Anchor Bay #'d tin Halloween 666 Producer's Cut - unofficial dvd, fair vhs quality with time codes Halloween 6 - Dimension version Halloween: H20 - Dimension R1 version (i believe this is non-anamorphic) Halloween Ressurection - Dimension R1 Halloween 25 Years of Terror - I highly recommend this set, I think of it as the completion of my "box set" I do not have the Rob Zombie remake. I saw it in the theatre and enjoyed it, but not enough to buy it, I'd prefer to stick with the classic. |
Re: Halloween Collection
Here's the Halloween crap I own:
Halloween - DVD and Blu-ray Halloween Extended Edition Halloween 2 Halloween 3 Halloween 4 Halloween 5 Halloween 6 Halloween 6 - uncut final version Halloween 6 - producer's cut Halloween 6 - rough cut(early workprint) Halloween 6 - tv version(theatrical and producer's cut hybrid) Halloween H2O Halloween H2O - workprint Halloween Ressurection - workprint Halloween 25 Years of Terror Halloween - Remake - Unrated Director's Cut Halloween - Remake workprint And yet the regular version of Resurrection isn't one of them. I guess it's something I was planning to get but just forgot about |

Ok I'm sure this question has been asked before but I am going to finsh off my Halloween Collection soon and I was going to ask a few questions before I go out and buy them. Right now I have: Halloween: Digitally Remastered THX, Halloween (Remake) Rated and Unrated, and Halloween Resurrection.
Which (if multiple versions availabe) version of each should I buy? Is the Halloween 25 Years of Terror DVD Worth It? Should I get three because I've seen it and it sucked so bad so is my collection incomplete without it or is it better off? Should I buy the 3-Disc Version of Rob Zombie's Halloween? Are you serious? You need someone to decide this for you? If I told you your Halloween collection was incomplete without an official Michael Myers halloween mask, are you going to run out and buy one of those too? |
Re: Halloween Collection
When I was doing research after the October Horror movie challenge, the Box set that came out last year (with the mask) definitely contained everything to get a good start without having to do any additional double-dipping, and I think I got it for like $25 in the DDD 25% off sale. The rest of the titles were a little tricky to figure out which ones to get, in fact I haven't ordered everything yet. I will probably study this thread when I get home to get some answers for myself on the ones I haven't got yet.

According to rumors I heard (I believe here on DVDTalk) they were planning a Collector's Series release of II but canned it at the last minute.
Oh, and to address the OP, if you are still on the fence about Halloween III, get the Halloween II/III 2-pack and you won't have to make the decision. I would buy III anyway though. Even though it has nothing to do with Michael Myers or the rest of the series, it's still a pretty decent horror movie. |
Re: Halloween Collection
So wheres the best place to find the Bootleg or unauthorized DVD like:
Halloween 6 Uncut Final Version Halloween 6 Producer's Cut Halloween 6 Rough Cut(early workprint) Halloween 6 TV version(theatrical and producer's cut hybrid) Halloween H2O (workprint) Halloween Ressurection (workprint) Halloween Remake (workprint) Can you buy these or do you have to download and make them yourself. Can someone show me some pictures or websites? |
Re: Halloween Collection
Sometimes studios have been known to quietly re-release anamorphic versions of discs that were previously non-anamorphic (Never Been Kissed by FOX is an example of this).
I know for certain that my edition of Halloween: H20 is non-anamorphic... but I wouldn't be surprised if Dimension Films re-issued an anamorphic edition and didn't change the UPC or anything. |
Re: Halloween Collection
^ I'd be very interested to know if that was the case. I would rebuy H20 today if I could find a 16x9 copy.
FWIW, here's my Halloween DVD collection: Halloween ('78) 2-disc LE (Includes theatrical & tv versions) Halloween II (Universal) Halloween III (Universal) Halloween IV (OOP AB tin) Halloween V (OOP AB tin) Halloween 6 (Buena Vista) Halloween 6: Producer's Cut (bootleg) Halloween: H20 (Buena Vista) Halloween: Resurrection (Mirimax) Halloween ('07) bootleg workprint Halloween ('07) theatrical version Halloween ('07) unrated cut (w/ BB lenticular cover & CC bonus disc) Halloween ('07) Blu-ray Halloween: 25 Years of Terror I know it's shameful to own so many copies of RZ's sub-par remake, but being such a completeist requires me to own every possible cut of the films I can get my hands on. |
Re: Halloween Collection
Just for the hell of it, here's what I've got:
Halloween ('78) Limited Edition (VHS with the orange tapes) Halloween ('78) 2-Disc Limited Edition Halloween ('78) 2-Disc 25th Anniversary (Divimax) Halloween II/III (Universal) Halloween 4 (Divimax) Halloween 5 (Divimax) Halloween 6 Halloween 6: Producer's Cut (bootleg on VHS) Halloween: H20 Halloween: Resurrection Halloween: 25 Years of Terror Halloween ('07) Unrated Version Halloween ('07) Blu-ray I've owned previous versions of 2,3,4,5 but sold them for the the upgrades. |
Re: Halloween Collection
My Halloween collection:
Halloween (25th anniversary 2 disc) Halloween 2 (universal) Hallween 3 (universal) Halloween 4 (ab divimax) Halloween 5 (ab divimax) Halloween 6 (buena vista) Halloween h20 (buena vista) Halloween Resurrection (mirimax) Halloween 07 unrated (best buy lenticular cover) Halloween 25 years of terror I still want to get the extended tv version of Halloween, and the "producers cut" of H6. Also I used to own a previous single disc anchor bay versions that I traded in when I got the 2 discer not realizing it has a documentary on it that isn't on the version I now have. I want to get that one again. |

I'm sure that is probably the case. I posted in the anamorphic thread with the UPC of the anamorphic H20 so you can look there to see if it is the same as the UPC on your copy. |
Re: Halloween Collection
Ok so is there or is there not an anamorphic version of H20
|
