I thought this flick was ok, nothing more nothing less. I might grab the BD if I can get it for a good price, but it's definitely no rush for me.

Jersey Girl didn't have the pre-release buzz and strong reception from test screenings that Z&M did. Plus you have one of the biggest guys on the planet at the moment with Rogen and it should have done better. Especially with a similar R-rated comedy, Role Models, raking it in a week later.

Sure Jersey Girl had Affleck at his zenith but it also came with more baggage with the whole J.Lo & Gigli debacle right around release.

Just go back a few weeks to the first podcast of the year, Smith does a better job of laying out why it should have done better, than I ever could.

This stinks of a double dip. No Kevin Smith film has come out without commentary. Not even Jersey Girl. And it seems very easy to get Seth Rogen in a room for a couple hours to record one based on all the others he has done. Not buying this.

EDIT: well if there's a chance they'll do a commentary on bd-live maybe I'll get it.

According to Smith on his blog, it's 43 deleted and extended scenes running 95m, and the doc runs another 75. If it seems like not very much, there's the value you're looking for.

god damn, 95 minutes of deleted scenes! prob means everything he shot for the movie. that means the rough cut was prob over 3 and a half hours.

I think the thanks needs to go to the Weinstien company and Genius products. Kevin Smith himself is not a studio that manufactures and markets DVD's.

True but given how well Smith's DVDs do and how big a nut of DVD he is, I bet he gets some say in the matter.

Yeah, I'm sure he has some clout in regards to his DVD releases. He knows what it's like to be a fan and seems like he doesn't want to screw his own fanbase over.

But even if he doesn't have much say, I applaud him for being very considerate of his fans. Before the release of the bare bones initial Dogma DVD, he gave ample notice of the special edition that was in the works.

Then again, I remember him talking about a Jersey Girl special edition, which never was. I still haven't picked up that DVD (or even seen the movie, for that matter).

I was just about to point out that he had said previously that there would be a special edition coming out. Now, the problem then becoems as in Jersey Girl, where he said an SE was forthcoming, and we havent seen anything or heard anythign about it for ages. Sometimes plans go to shit.

But I do agree that he is a fan of dvd, and lieks to put out the most packed editions he can. It wouldnt surprise me to see "X" versions of all of his films at some point.
