Probably won't be there, which is too bad because it's just another reason why I have to keep my box set.

As I've said, Part III only includes 3D glasses and a Theatrical Trailer

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I'm picking up 1 & 2 but I refuse to support them with part 3....
That's a shame because I love part 3,It's one of the best sequels....
It's beyond ridiculous they added no features to the DVD....
I noticed the original they imported a feature from the box set for BR only....
Friday the 13th Chronicles,I'm surprised they didn't add all these on the discs....
I think the Savini one also might be from the box set too....
They could have included the commentary & Friday the 13th Chronicles pt 3....
I mean that's nothing special to me since I own the box set but it's an effort...
It's funny they label it as "deluxe" edition that's total BS....

No, it isn't. His Name is Jason is an entirely new feature-length documentary about all eight films. It's very much in line with Halloween: 25 Years of Terror (in fact, His Name is Jason actually sports the subtitle "30 Years of Friday the 13th").

Also, the reason part 3 has no bonus features is almost invariably the fact that the disc has both the 3-D and non 3-D versions of the movie on it, and I guess they figured if Part 1 can't get a 2-disc set, neither can Part 3. Just import the R4.

No one was asking for a 2 disc set but taking away previous features & adding nothing?
There's no excuse for that....

If Part IV comes to DVD I have a feeling it will include the missing Part III features (which are on the Part III Blu-ray). It was either a few special features or a bonus 3D version of the film.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Why would IV have features for another movie on it?
We pretty much got screwed for a "deluxe" III release....

I bet it will have some of them, but it will still be missing the 3D Terror featurette.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

school me on watching Part 3-D...

1. do you have to be really close to the tv set to see the effects or can you be like 5 or so feet away, reclining, and still get the same experience.

2. also, for those that have this release already, how is the 3-D effect for the film? i remember way back they used to put these old monster movies on tv (Creature from Black Lagoon, i think) and it used the 3-D effect, but I don't think it was that good. is this DVD kinda like that, with very limited effect?

3. anyone know if these are all going to be $14.99 at Best Buy next week?

thanks.

They added the 3-D version. What I meant was disc space after you have both the 3-D and non-3-D versions of the movie encoded prevents much else from being included.

As Gizmo suggests, hopefully we'll get these features on the Part IV SE since there will be room.

There are already a few reviews posted in this thread. One guy says it works best on a flatscreen TV, compared to a tube or his computer (on the latter, it didn't "work" at all). That probably has to do with how vividly the red and blue highlights stand out.

I'm the last person to defend Paramount, but 2 versions of part 3, including the 3D version people have been begging for forever, sounds like a special edition to me.

Anyone know if Best Buy BMs have started to sell the deluxe editions before street date? Their Store Locater shows them to be "in-stock", which normally it would show "coming soon".

Thanks for the info. It's the first time that I have ever seen them do this, so that's why I decided to ask. Thanks again.

one recommendation that I read on 'The Polar Express 3D' disc was to boost the TV brightness scale a bit to have the image less dark. Incidently, the darkness level of 'Bolt' I saw at the theatre, was not bright enough either, resulting in a flat, unimpressive 3D imagery.

That's interesting. When I took my son to see Bolt, it was very bright and it was the best 3D presentation I'd ever seen by far. I guess it depends on the theater you see it in.

His Name Was Jason has nothing to do with New Line/Paramount....

...although apparently there's movie money included. But yes, His Name Was Jason is by Anchor Bay so don't expect to see it show up in any box sets.

However, of course, we absolutely don't know if there will be a box set. We know for certain that there is not a box set announced yet, but certainly Paramount could release a box set eventually, when the remake is arriving on DVD. It's not like you can just ask if a title is going to get double-dipped -- only the studio knows.

I just wanted to let you all know that "His Name Was Jason" is priced at $9.96 at Walmart. The first three films are $13.00.
