Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?
I'm very interested in the SHORT featurettes on the first film and the "Jason Forever" featurette on part 2. It's not a complete loss, though I would have liked a scene specific commentary by Cunningham (King and Palmer would have been nice too) on the first film. But I'm glad the first film is being released on BD.

I'll import the UK BD for Part 2 for the improved pq, but the extras are weak. I remember tracking down that Jason Forever BB bonus disc on ebay years ago and I paid $30 for it. Now they just toss it onto the re-issue of Part 2. Lame.

This review is pretty amusing, though the video clip near the end of it is what really kills me. I thought it was well done and hilarious.

Couldn't find a thread for this...
But I got "His Name was Jason" today on DVD. Nice set. Comes with a slip cover, foldout poster and $5 movie money to see the new film. GF hates these films...so I'll have to watch all of this in secret

I'll probably do the same with the BD of Part 2. What is it coded and are the menus coded for PAL?

Online prices for that doc were low, around $12.99 so I'm excited to nab it next week, since I'm broke and will have to hold off on the actual films...

It comes with movie money? That's strange, since it's by Anchor Bay, isn't it? Kinda cool that AB and Paramount worked out a deal.

Actually I was serious but I'm not surprised....
Paramount dropped the ball with the box set & other previous releases....
The box set had a nice bonus disc but that's it....
They could have released most of them uncut finally....
They could have put some better features on the new DVDs....
Oh well....

Even the Press Sheet that came with this mentioned the movie money and limited free poster as well. I'd nab this one fast, guys! I watched a few minutes and its excellent.

For anyone interested, not sure if it's for the public or not, they're going to be having a screening of His Name Was Jason at the New Bev theater in Hollywood this Fri. @ midnight.

Does anyone else think Paramount saw how much better of a job the independent documentary is, so they just decided to half-ass it with these new, so called "deluxe editions"?

^ No. They had these SE's planned out long before the doc was even finished. Knowing it was coming may have influenced their choices, but knowing them I'd say that's doubtful.

I'll buy the original Friday for now and wait till Paramount (hopefully) decides to do a new box set that's more... meaty.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?
The first box set should've been done correct. This one is also half-assed.
We also have to remember that this is the company that tried to kill off the series around part 4 or 5. It's been awhile and don't remember exactly which one.
They seem to care more about doing things sloppy or not at all with things they don't like. Look at all the people that wanted Full Moon movies but Paramount had the rights to it. They sat on it until Full Moon got them back and now their making all the money Paramount could have had.

If Paramount wasn't half-assing us, we'd be getting all eight deluxe editions on February 3rd, inside and outside of a box set, on both DVD and BD, in uncut editions.

not to be a sourpuss here, but I'd very surprised if Paramount could actually find the uncut footage for Part II, I'm under the impression that it's been lost and unreplaceable

Could we assume that Part 3 is missing the commentary from the box set version because Paramount didn't want to pay the participants?

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?
Jason Forever - Rounding out this disc is the inclusion of the Q & A entitled “Jason Forever”. A lot of you have likely already caught this feature elsewhere, as it was included as a special bonus to anyone who purchased their “From Crystal Lake to Manhattan” sets at Best Buy. But it’s a neat inclusion for anyone who bought the set elsewhere. It’s a panel from January 2004 Fangoria convention featuring four actors who have played Jason Voorhees. The panel is moderated by Peter Bracke (Crystal Lake Memories) and includes Ari Lehman (Part 1), Warrington Gillette (Part 2), CJ Graham (part VI), and Kane Hodder (VII, VIII, JGTH, and X). They give a great rundown on how they became involved in the series as well as their pride in having done so. If you don’t have this feature it’s a great addition. It’s always great to see these guys in action!
2.Specs from DvdEmpire
Features:
Disc 1:
- Feature Presentation
- The Men Behind The Mask: Extended interviews with all of the men who played Jason Voorhees
Disc 2:
- Final Cuts: Extended interviews with the directors
- Dragged From The Lake: More stories from Camp Blood
- From Script To Screen: Interviews with the screenwriters
- The Camp Crystal Lake Survival Guide
- Jason Takes Comic-Con
- Fan Films
- Friday the 13th in 4 Minutes
& much more (I'm assuming some easter eggs)
