I ordered mine way earlier and it is on its way from Amazon. I learned long ago to never wait on MST3K stuff.

I am actually excited to learn that I will be able to buy this set WITHOUT the toys and big metal box.

Thanks for the heads up about the tin's availability. I went ahead and placed an order with Amazon last night. Hope I got in on time.

I paid a little more than I anticipated, as I was going to wait for DD's 20% off sale. But who knows what they will charge, since they usually raise their prices before the sale.

It wouldn't shock me if the tin sells out before the 20% off deals are even here.

Yeah, I didn't want to chance it, so that's why I went ahead and placed an order last night. Amazon just sent me a shipping notice.

According to Shout! Factory, the non-tin set release date is 11/18, so you should be getting the tin from Amazon.

I got my DD order today. It was a real bear to get the thing out of the tin, as it is barely any smaller and therefore you can't grab an end and you end up having to sort of shake it out like ketchup from a bottle. Also, the the Crow bust is plastic and not articulated in any way, so that's kind of a let down. It's still a cool set though and I will put Crow up with my other highly collectible DVD trophies, regardless.

I just got my shipping notice from Buy.com. I ordered it Saturday and was a little nervous it might not ship.

As much as I love these little goodies, my shelf tops are getting crowded as it is. Plus, maybe the plain edition will be a little cheaper.

is reporting that Shout! Factory has already shipped all their copies of the tin version of this set to retailers for pre-orders, so looks like the tin is sold out from the manufacturer. Shout! will quickly release a standard edition without the Crow figure, tin and lobby cards.

I preordered mine at DD and it's already shipped, so if you want the tin I'd act now.
This stinks.

I was hoping to get this at a brick and mortar today and start watching it tonight. Looks like I won't be so lucky...

I had no problem getting this from a brick & mortar store. This morning, both Best Buy and Newbury Comics had 2 copies each on the shelf. I don't know how fast these things sell so you might not want to wait long, but they ARE out there at least.

This set is pretty disappointing. The image quality pales in comparison to the Rhino sets (a lot of noise, and poor aliasing on some edges - if you look at the edges of Mike, Crow, and Servo you'll see what I mean), and the chapter skip locations are inferior as well. Not to mention the menus, which are reminiscent of crappy bargain bin DVDs. The packaging is very pretty, but the actual DVDs seem to have been slapped together a bit too quickly.

I've only looked at some of First Spaceship on Venus and Future War so far, but the chapter skips seem to be at the breaks where they should be and the menus seem better than the Rhino ones. However, the encoding has issues especially on First Spaceship on Venus. As you mention there are lots of artifacts and and overall jagginess to the image that can't be fully blamed on the bad source tape. I thought Future War was much better, but the aliasing is still noticeable. I have fan recorded DVD copies of the Sci-Fi ones and they are actually slightly better in quality. I guess I can live with it since this show has never looked great, but it is disappointing that the encoding was done with the same care as a youtube clip.

And what's the deal with the making of documentary? It's nice and informative and all of that - but everyone seems to have been interviewed in a 100 degree boiler room in front of a large black piece of construction paper.

don't worry they'll re-release it later down the road when Crow becomes a major player in r rated sex comedies, even though they said they wouldn't. Then people on the internet will complain that they can't make bank from the set, which they had first because they are the only true fans of the show, but really are just pissed because they watched an episode on pirate bay and payed 200 bucks on ebay so they could look cooler than other people with dvd addictions
