Even with those extra's, I still feel cheated as far as extra's go.

Looks like I'll wait for the "ultimate" set they'll release in the future.

That's kind of cool. I may spring for this one, depending on what the FYE steelbook eventually turns out to look like (is the image on their website the official final version?)

based off of that link, click on the back cover and zoom...has all the Blu features. Has the Batman Tech and Psyc Docs....So I was going to get teh 2 disc DVD and the Blu version as well, cuz I will upgrade eventually. Guess it's a Single disc DVD of TDK for me...*sigh*

The fact that they left two of the biggest extra features off the 2-Disc DVD, only putting them on the 2-Disc Blu-Ray, really pisses me off. I may just skip this release all together, and as someone else above said, tell Warner Bros. to go fuck themselves. The longer these studios leave features that they can damn well put on the DVD's, just in order to push Blu-Ray, the less inclined I am to buy EITHER format! In the end, it won't be the consumer who loses out, but, these studios are too stupid to figure that out.

I'm no fan of excluding extras from the DVD release, and Warner should've included the specials for those who want to see them. That being said, I did get to watch the two specials on the History Channel. I have to admit if they were included on the DVD I wouldn't bother to watch them again. They just seemed like promotional fluff to me. I have zero interest in learning about how Batman's gadgets are vaguely similar to existing technology. The other one about the history of Batman could've been good if it had a longer runtime. As it is it's only for those with little knowledge of Batman.

I had trouble locating the previous thread regarding the two disc special editions for Batman and Batman Returns. Are these still planned on being re-released possibly soon? I thought i remembered reading back in the summer that these would be released the day Dark Knight hits shelves.

I don't know what I should do really. This was probably my favorite movie of the year and I was hoping it would get a great DVD treatment (which it very well could down the line). Those two missing documentaries really make me mad and I stand by telling Warner Brothers to go fuck themselves. But I really want this movie and I don't know if I should go the one disc route or not. I do have a $10 Best Buy gift card. It's horrible that the DVD is less stellar than the Blu-Ray but I'm not making the jump for one movie. Should I pay $12.99 for the two disc or $5.99 for the one disc? There's a $7 difference but is it worth it for a big fan? What will everyone else be doing?

I'll get this one on disc simply because I loved the movie that much, but Warners SERIOUSLY need to start lifting their game on newer films (I've had this opinion for a few years now) as do other studios but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it got a similar treatment to I Am Legend (bare bones release now, deluxe release later.)

Does anyone really expect an ultimate edition down the road? Begins wasn't exactly a packed DVD, and has Nolan done a commentary since Insomnia?
I'm just finding this treatment to be pretty much the same as the previous film. Do I wish that those two docs weren't Blu exclusive? Maybe a little, but they seem to have almost nothing to do with the film itself or its production anyway.
I kind of feel like a sucker going for the 2 disc, but I'm going to do it, and not expect anything down the road.

Warner knows everybody and their mother is buying this DVD on 12/9. Why release a jam packed DVD when you can milk the fanboys twice by releasing an ultimate edition down the line?

But the Begins collector's set didn't have any new disc-based content, just cards and an interesting case. The BD version only included the IMAX opening of TDK as the only disc-based extra.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm actually ordering Papa John's later this week! I guess since I already paid the $5.00 pre-order for the damned thing at Best Buy, to get that poster, with the $3.00 off, I'll just go ahead and bite on the 2-Disc Edition. I still wish that Warner Bros. would stop withholding special features just to force consumers to go Blu-Ray, though! It's not working on me!

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. Why does everyone think Dark Knight will get a much better release down the road?
