Yesssssssssssssss!

Rammsteinfan 06-27-08 12:23 PM

Nice. Picking up for sure.

MartinBlank 06-27-08 01:17 PM

Finally!

islandclaws 06-30-08 11:50 AM

Fuck yea. Easily in my top 3 DVDs that badly needed a new edition. Glad to see they've packed this one to the gills. I hope they include some kind of tribue to Winston.

TheDuke 06-30-08 01:58 PM

Is Pumpkinhead good? I have heard about it but the premise seems so cheesey it can't possibly be good I thought, but it looks like you guys are excited.

asianxcore 06-30-08 02:32 PM

It's cheesy-good-fun

A couple months ago I picked up the R2 release of the film (Widescreen but not anamorphic I believe). Hopefully this new edition will be both :)

SkullOrchard 06-30-08 02:39 PM

Really looking forward to this one.

It rocks. The main draw of the film is, obviously, the amazing FX work by Winston's crew. The creature is badass. As a film it falls into many of the conventions of 80's horror, but that's part of what makes it so damn good. For fans of creature features you can't possibly go wrong.

DeputyDave 06-30-08 04:05 PM

Outstanding! Great news.

And yes, it is that good (in a slightly cheezy 80's way).

amazon pre-order is up: http://www.amazon.com/Pumpkinhead/dp...866198&sr=1-15

kinda pricey but i don't give a fuck.

If this one didn't have the tagline, I'd say I like it slightly more.

tofferman 06-30-08 08:58 PM

Considering the original release was only in foolscreen, this should be a no brainer for anybody who already has it (provided the new release is anamorphic.) :fc:

DVD Polizei 06-30-08 09:31 PM

A two-disc for the added featurettes would have been nice. Not sure about adding all these new features with the main movie on one disc.

The Monkees 06-30-08 09:59 PM

So glad this was finally announced, too bad no Stan Winston commentary... :(

one word: awesome!

islandclaws 07-09-08 10:33 AM

It should probably be noted that the cover art is lenticular, and that posts #11 and #17 are what you will see.

dullboy 07-09-08 11:46 AM

I imported the cheap UK anamorphic disc a couple of years ago, and it totally blows the old R1 MGM disc away. Hope this new one will look as good or better (Blu-Ray?).

Kinda find it funny on that Amazon listing that it says
Pumpkinhead
Starring: Pumpkinhead

nothingfails 07-09-08 03:16 PM

one of my favorite horror movies ever. I'll never forget my dad taping this thinking it was some kid-friendly Halloween oriented movie and then my mom and I (at age 10) sat down and watched it, rofl!!!

mayorofsmpleton 07-09-08 04:17 PM

With his passing there never will be either. :(

Too bad no Blu-ray was announced for this one or Child's Play. I have R2 imports of both in Widescreen, but I'm guessing these transfers will top those greatly and I'd be hard-pressed not to double dip.

That said, the lenticular release of the prior editions have been out for a while for both Pumpkinhead and Child's Play... so they're essentially just going to glue the old ones onto new slipcovers... ;)

That's hilarious!

Amen to that. I'm all over this release.

SanityRemoved 07-12-08 05:54 PM

That was a nasty trick they pulled with the lenticular cover. I started the movie and foolscreen appeared, couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the case. Learned my lesson though.

JOE29 07-13-08 08:13 PM

So will the new release be widescreen or not? If it is i'll get it. If it's not, i'll just keep the earlier release that I have now.

dullboy 08-13-08 09:18 AM

Revised artwork up:

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...pkinhead2.html

islandclaws 08-13-08 10:03 AM

I like the revised better. Color scheme is more in keeping with the look of the film. Plus, that last cover had been used before. Honestly, though, it could be a blank white cover with "Pumpkinhead" written on it and I'd still buy it.

JOE29 08-13-08 12:48 PM

I like the updated art work better also. I traded in my original dvd copy of this so I can pick up the new version. Widescreen is what did it for me. So now I'm waiting for September 9th to pick this up.

The Monkees 08-13-08 04:55 PM

Thank God! I hope they change Child's Play too, I hated how they were just the lenticular covers that are available now.

asianxcore 08-13-08 05:29 PM

Diggin' the new artwork.

Darkgod 08-13-08 07:29 PM

yeah i have the foolscreen one, and will have to switch out. Good movie though, and was actually the second dvd I bought in 2001, behind Phantasm. Reason being it was only 9.99

I bought that too last year because I really wanted to watch it. I'll never get rid of it now!

Paul1957 09-09-08 10:05 AM

Looks like no stores are carrying this. Amazon has it for 13.99, DVD Planet and Deep Discount don't even have it listed, Best Buy.com has it on backorder.

Rammsteinfan 09-09-08 10:18 AM

Yup, most stores around here either dont have it listed or is on backorder for a few weeks. :( Saves me a few bucks for now i guess. May just order online if i dont feel like going out. Barnes & Noble had it listed as 9/28 for release.

The Monkees 09-09-08 11:50 AM

Damn! One of the DVDs I was waiting for today too! I wonder if FYE will have it.

It's strange that DVD Planet & Deep Discount didn't even have it up as a pre-order.

Rammsteinfan 09-09-08 12:48 PM

I called FYE and they didnt even show it in their system as being available at all.

$13.99 at Amazon? I had to pay $17.99+ shipping.
I guess I overpaid a bit, but it looks like by your posts it's either that or nothing.

Rammsteinfan 09-09-08 03:17 PM

Found a handful of copies at Fry's just now. It was $13.99 there. They had about 10 copies on the shelf. No slipcover or insert :(
