I don't s'pose there's gonna be a review of the DVD version on this site any time soon,
...is there?
...I mean...
...for those of us who have no interest in Blu-ray

Uh-huh!!!
Quite simply, I have no interest in re-buying my entire collection on a new format, I just can't afford it. Upgrading everything fron VHS to DVD put a serious hurt on my wallet for a few years
Secondly I have an up-convert DVD player and an HDTV and when I'm watching DVDs, it looks like I'm watching a physical print of the film (just watched "Fantasia 2000" and it looks AWESOME!).
Third, I've seen Blu-Ray in action and yes, it's an amazingly clear picture. You can't get that kind of clarity in a movie theater, but I don't need the picture to be that clear. Movie theater clarity is fine for me.
Fourth, I think we all know how some of the older films are gonna look on Blu-Ray (grainy as hell!)
OK I'm done now, let's see how fast the "Pro Blu-Ray" people call for my banning
-Pete
P.S. thanks for the info about the upcoming DVD review of NBC
P.P.S. Italics are fun

Regardless, unless I go out and buy a 52" TV I just don't see the need. I have played around with my Dad's HDTV and from what I have seen so far an upconvert player should be more then adequate.
Sorry to go off topic.
The Nightmare set does look very nice but WAY too expensive. I imagine once the rush to get one let's up they will be on Ebay for $50.

Received the DVD (standard release) today and am tearing through the package as we speak. Three quick points:
1) Actually a three-disc set (film, supplements, digital copy). Think Serenity CE-style packaging.
2) Transfer is an exceedingly solid 1.66:1 anamorphic image.
3) DTS IS included on the disc, and sounds great. Will compare with the Special Edition disc later.
More to come as soon as possible.

Freudian slip man, I swear! I'm just so used to thanking Speedy for his early ads I guess. I meant your name!
And in case you don't buy that, I sincerely apologize, but thank you!
This will be the first, and only digital copy I put on it. Guess that means I can no longer bash digital copies...

I actually used the Digital Copy of this one. I didn't want to watch it right away (I was busy) and didn't feel like taking the DVD out after I put it all back in the box. Easier to just watch it on the computer.

My jack skellington bust came today as a early birthday present from my brother it is awesome, it is quite heavier and bigger than I thought it would be. It is really nice quality. I watched the movie and it looked very vibrant and clear. The sound chip is cool.

Anybody else have slight packaging problems with the dvd version? For one the stupid movie rewards code is missing. That is my second disney dvd in as many purchases to be missing one. I think they only put them in a certain number of dvds.
Second the part where the cardboard lip goes into the package is pretty mangled. Looks like someone just forced it into the package.
Minor quibbles but still pretty annoying.
