I know they were only $1 but they still suck, the Rodman DVD wouldn'y have been as bad if the didn't bleep the naughty words

Trigun - Complete set

After getting into Anime a few years ago, I first started with some of the "Must Haves" - Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, etc..
Within about 6 months I had probably 100 titles and kept having people recommending Trigun to me, telling me how much I'd love it. I did the stupid thing of "Blind buying" (like most of my anime) the $200 collection. The first episode was really all it took to tell it wasnt for me, and I never finished the first disc. Fortunately I was able to sell it for about $140 a few months later. I've been a little disappointed in other series' but to date, this is probably my biggest regret.

I've been let down by others (getting into Takashi Miike a few years ago and making the decision to collect some of his titles.. started off good but I did go through a number of serious letdowns (Visitor Q, Fudoh)).

Those are the only that instantly come to mind. I've been disappointed with some (knowing that I'll never watch them again) but the above were just such big regrets.

Spider, I almost made the same mistake about Trigun. The show starts off super silly and goofy, but it picks up and gets real serious quickly.

I've bought, watched, and quickly sold all of Rob Zombie's flicks. I've learned my lesson and won't buy another one. He blows like the solar wind.

my biggest regret wasnt even expensive... i got "The Contender" in the walmart bin... a quick synopsis:

"The most controversial movie in years," claims Joel Siegel of Good Morning America.

Power comes at a stunning price, in this electrifying thriller that features riveting performances by an all-star cast. The vice president is dead, and as the president (Jeff Bridges) makes his choice for a replacement, a secret contest of wills is being waged by a formidable rival (Gary Oldman). When Senator Laine Hanson (Joan Allen) is nominated as the first woman in history to hold the office, hidden agendas explode into a battle for power.

Critics rave that THE CONTENDER is "the most important American film in years...a remarkably powerful and provocative thriller," (Jeff Craig, Sixty Second Preview)

It was, however, way beyond bad.

Buying anything not anamorphic. Buying any title that later led to double, triple, etc. dip. Collecting the individual seasons of shows that later got a cheaper series mega-box. As for individual releases, I made the big mistake picking up The Curse of King Tut's Tomb in the Wal-Mart bin. For the curiosity factor I picked up Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter and it proved to be one of the worst, most inept films I've ever seen.

Buying DVDs is probably my biggest regret. I must have about 450 DVDs and if I didn't spend money on DVD from beginning of DVD era (1993), I would have been $10,000 richer.

450 DVDs should only be about $2175.

Hard Candy - Ellen Page annoys me to no end.

Dead & Breakfast - Trailer looked cool, movie was shit.

The Ring Two - One of the worst sequels ever.

I've a had a few purchasing mistakes here and there but overall the M*A*S*H - Medicine and Martinis set is the biggest.

Paid $180 for it when word got around it was OOP. If I had only waited until after they starting showing up everywhere again, I would have been able to get it for $100 less.

I spent $125 for the R0 Twin Peaks pilot on ebay. (The Korean version with PAL speedup and lousy picture). There was hysteria at that time since it had never been released with the original ending (even on VHS) and it seemed at the time it would be very rare.

It later became widely available for about $10 a pop, and then available again remastered with proper sound in the R1 Twin Peaks Gold Box.

This is slightly off topic, but still relating to regret. I used to work at a Sam Goody back in '01-'02, before I really got back into wrestling. I remember organizing wrestling DVDs like WrestleMania XV, WrestleMania 2000, WrestleMania X-Seven, WrestleMania X8, all this old stuff from '99 to maybe Backlash of '02 that I have either spent tons of money to get brand new on ebay or have still yet to find.

Thinking of holding all those DVDs that I SO need just bugs the shit out of me, that's why I'm not really not as picky with wrestling DVDs as I first was.

Off the top of my head:

Saw 2
Reindeer Games: Director's Cut
Mission: Impossible 2
Dirty Pants Larry
I Know/Still Know What You Did Last Summer 2-pack
Meet the Feebles - For the transfer
Halloween: Resurrection - Completest.

The Stephen King Boxset (The Golden Years, The Langoliers, Thinner, Cujo Foolscreen Edition) - In retrospect, I probably should have just bought "The Stand" alone.

Some Retromedia titles I picked up during a $5 sale - Hobgoblins, The Alien Factor and a few other forgettable titles

The Crow 2 and 3 - Included in the boxset.

Requiem For a Dream - good movie, but not something I would ever want to watch more than once.

I regret not getting into DVDs as early as you did. I foolishly waited until 1997.

Spending too much money on blind buys and unnecessary bargain purchases. Also, getting into credit card debt due to DVD's.....which I am now out of Thank God! Also, getting into the hype of "New Release Tuesday" which was probably the worst thing to happen to me financially.

But, mainly not renting enough for a period of 2-3 years. I would have more money in the bank, which would enable me to get a new car or take more vacations.
