There was a period of time last year where Blockbuster had Blockbuster exclusive versions of the PPV DVDs. I only got the exclusive WM 23 because it had the awesome ECW match with the Originals and New Breed from the ECW show following WM. I didn't know they had anything else. How much did you pay for the DX DVD?

hitman tommy 03-22-08 08:42 PM

It was $12.99CAD

To elaborate more on that, the story that has become somewhat of an wrestling urban legend/myth is that Savage either tried or did have sexual relations with Stephanie when she was 14-years old and it was only after Savage had bolted for WCW did Vince learn about what had happened.

Take it for what its worth but personally, If I had found out someone had sexual relations with my underage teenage daughter, you could bet your last dollar I would be on the phone to the police in a heartbeat wanting the person arrested and having charges filed.

Blockbuster has started to carry wrestling DVDs again. I know we got in Rumble 08 and that No Way Out is on order.

Why call the cops or get someone to, and to quote santino marella "break-ka his face", When you could just keep ignoring his legacy and refuse to allow him entry into the prestigious wwe hall of fame. -rolleyes-

/Sarcasm Off

The funny thing is people actually believe that savage/stephanie rumor. Which is just beyond ridiculous in my opinion.

I'd guess it's more likely Savage pulled a Jeff Jarrett on Vince McMahon and held him up for more money when he left? Or an Ultimate Warrior situation where Savage is insane and has insane demands as well. The second might be the case.

espin 03-22-08 10:36 PM

Or maybe every time Vince tries to phone Savage to discuss the DVD details, Randy just yells "Bonesaw is ready!!" into the phone...lol

The Monkees 03-22-08 10:49 PM

Well The Ultimate Warrior had nothing to do with his DVD, so I can't see why Savage has to have anything to do with his. He deserves it. He was defenitely one of the biggest stars during the late 80s and early 90s. It's a shame he has to have so many problems with McMahon, I'd love to have a set of his fights.

Just to clarify your comment, but Jeff Jarret didn't hold Vince for more money. His contract ran out the day before the his last appereance (a PPV). He just told Vince that he wanted all that was owed to him to be paid before the PPV, including PPV and merchandise royalties. Jarret had already made the decision to leave for WCW and wanted all his earned money from WWF.

I found this on a website:

The Blu-ray version of Wrestlemania 24 will be released on May 20, 2008. Amazon.com had previously reported and October release for the Blu-ray version but that was just an error.

I'm not sure if the XWF DVD has been released in the US/Canada but here are some recent additions to my collection.

I think Vince owns the XWF library, The Hulk vs Mr. Perfect match is on the Hulk Hogan Ultimate anthology

Eriecke23 03-23-08 07:45 PM

Yeah the XWF stuff's been released in the US before. I got the set at Wal-Mart a couple of years back

It should also be noted that the match that JJ went ahead with at the PPV, when he wasn't even required to do so, was against Chyna...to whom he dropped the IC title...in a "Good Housekeeping Match".

Actually, Jarrett did hold the WWF up for more money and threatened to no show the event if Jim Ross, who was in charge of the talent roster at the time, didn't agree to pay him $250,000, which Ross did and got him in a lot of hot-water with the higher-ups.

Also, as for Savage, the only other reason I can think of why Vince wants nothing to do with Savage being mentioned (other than his legends profile in the first issue of Smackdown Magazine in the Winter of 2003 with Cena on the cover) is how he left the WWF for WCW without telling anyone.

IIRC, Vince showed up to work on a Monday and no one knew where Savage was. Now, either someone saw Savage on WCW television and told Vince or no one knew until they saw Savage on WCW tv, Vince included.

Yea, It's been released here in states. Walmart.com has it up for sale right now for 18.63

Be warned. If it's the same packaging as the one I got a few years back from highspots.com, which I assume it is. Horrible, The discs are housed in a folder type case w/no spindle. Which allows the disc to get scratched when pulling them out or putting them back.

I believe Gene Okerlund and Hulk Hogan did the same thing to Verne Gagne whn they left the AWA.

I think regarding Hogan and Gagne, it depends who you believe.

That's not what I remember. I seem to recall Vince doing a very uncharacteristic send-off for Savage, thanking him for his time with the company... not certain where I'm getting that from, but I don't remember Savage leaving the way CSUMB84 remembers it. That sounds more like Luger's departure.

Two things:

1- I really want to know where you are getting this (mis)information about Jarret and Savage.

2- This should be discussed in the Weekly wrestling thread in the Sports forum, not here, since it is derailing the DVD discussion.

DiedLaughing 03-24-08 02:55 PM

Back to DVDs...

I still have a couple of the KANE - FYE Exclusive DVDs sealed. I'm down for trading or $15 shipped thru PayPal.

doctaheath78 03-24-08 04:31 PM

Has anyone seen the Wal-Mart/WM24 display in the US that is due out Tuesday? I wonder if it is only at Super Wal-Marts or all Wal-Marts.

das1330 03-24-08 04:56 PM

I wonder that too doctaheath
