I also quite enjoy Monster Squad, the best teaming of monsters that I've seen so far, still waiting to see that Abbot and Costello.

To the people who were complaining about Netflix shipping slowly...I had the same problem here in San Diego, and I'm really close to the Santa Ana shipping center. Everything I've gotten has come from there, and stuff shipped on the same day has ended up getting here 3 days apart. They had no explanation. So while I didn't mention the October Movie Horror Challenge, I told them I was trying to get a certain number of films in by the end of the month and the shipping problems were not helping. Everytime I complained, they gave me a bonus rental. I ended up calling 3 times in a row, so I got 3 nice bonus rentals out of it.
Speaking of other people's lists...I think everyone should mention one list, other than their own, that they really like. You can like it for either the movies that are on it, the order in which they watched it, anything...I personally like RobCA's. Seems to have very organized watching. All themed and what not. I personally enjoy Tim Burton day.
Ok...going to watch Peeping Tom now...I loved the trailer...hopefully I like the movie.

And I really like your idea of each of us complimenting someone else's list. Personally, I'd have to go with Dimension X's list (hope it's okay to link to it!) for the same reason you liked mine - I love how it's so well-organized. I particularly liked the attic theme, and the clown/circus/carnival theme... and several others, actually. All in all, a very cool list.

I'm a big fan of Mondo "Joe Bob" Kane's list and its diligent attention to detail.
Also, from one who hasn't been writing capsule reviews, thanks to those who do. It's great reading people's thoughts, and they have pointed out a few films I haven't seen but should.

I just watched my 101st movie, and I'm officially done. To go any further, I'd have to watch movies on TV, or use "wild cards", and I don't wanna.
This has been a lot of fun though, I'm looking forward to the next one!

I'm running out of steam on this. My original goal was 100 and I exceeded that and my new goal is 200 which I'm 24 away from. It's just taking a toll on my free time. Not that I won't be watching more but I got to focus on other stuff. I have 5 days to try and watch 24 films so roughly 5 films a day. Not entirely likely but maybe.
Anyone catch Saw 4 yet? I thought it was pretty good. Really confusing ect. I just don't know where they are going to go with V and VI.
As for the compliment someone on their collection thing I'd have to say I like Mondo Kane's idea a lot but I also like Trevor's reviews. But then I like Caligula's time frame idea.
If anything this contest is really setting me up for next years. I think I'll blind buy some stuff right before, maybe join nextflix as Blockbuster has nothing in store and their on-line is horrid.
But I think I'd like to make it a little more indepth. Maybe do a little everything.
I do love the check list though. I almost have it done

50 Horror Classics
http://www.amazon.com/Horror-Classic.../dp/B0001HAGTM
50 Chilling Classics
http://www.amazon.com/Chilling-Class...688384-0240952
50 Tales of Terror
http://www.amazon.com/Tales-Terror-M...688384-0240952
50 Drive-In Movie Classics
http://www.amazon.com/Drive-Movie-Cl...688384-0240952
I have all of these and went through most of Tales of Terror and Chilling Classics for the first time. The only problem is The Bowery at Midnight on my copy of Tales of Terror has a horribly loud screeching sound for 5 seconds towards the end of the movie.
I watched it for the first time this morning and it wasn't fun to hear

If you're the type of person that demands everything put on dvd has HD like picture quality and DTS sound, then ignore my suggestion.
edit: Here's a 4 movie marathon dvd I also own and recommend, especially for Claw of Terror

Next year, assuming I catch up on the movies I'm behind, I'm going to try and link my movies together.
I'll start off with Bela Lugosi movies and towards the end of those I'll start watching the ones with him and eventually hit the ones with him and Borris Karloff, and so on.
So far I have something like this:
Bela Lugosi---Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff---Boris Karloff---Boris Karloff and Lon Cheney Jr.---Lon Cheney Jr.---Lon Cheney Jr. and so on.
I found a film with Karloff and Christopher Lee, so I have an easy jump to Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing movies.
I'm not sure how many total films I can do this way, but I think I can get at least 100 off of just these 5 guys.
Or I could just go from actor to actor and watch their stuff in the order they made them. That would be easier but it may be more fun to do the movie connection thing.

Well, I am happy to say I have officially broken my record from last year (which was 78, I am currently watching my 79th title) and there are still 4 full days left until the challenge is over. I won't hit 100, but lets see how far I can go.
I've been sick for the last 2 days and have been doing nothing but lying on my couch watching horror movies, it's fun!

According to the Oracle of Kevin Bacon site, Christopher Lee is the second highest Center of the Universe (after Rod Steiger). Kevin Bacon is ironically 1049th.Originally Posted by Mister Peepers

I don't watch movies with commentaries often, but I have a few times with the horror movie challenge. Just finished Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers with the commentary by actresses Ellie Cornell & Danielle Harris. It was painful at times to sit through...absolutely the most uninformative commentary I've ever heard. These 2 had no clue...it was like hearing 2 women talking in the row in front of me at the theater. Wish I could make a list of the dialogue that took place... Most of it consisted of 'Do you remember... that character's name? How he was killed? Whether I was in that scene or not? Why they made you wear the clown costume?'
Sorry...had to vent.

Ouch. That sounds like a terrible commentary. I listened to the Freddy VS Jason commentary and it just wasn't informative enough for me.
My day was rough so I'm only getting two films in. Went to work and dealt with a few random dead bodies which has never happened before. From there I went to the Office convention which rocked and then I hit up a Halloween party. I'm beat
Actually, I would have only gotten 1 film in if I hadn't started Urban Legend last night at 12 and stopped about a hour into it for bed.

Thankfully no. Lots of teachers, LOTS of teachers out of work now due to the banruptcy claim. It is so bad I was sent a letter from the embassy! I work for a smaller school with a lot less students and online lessons, shorter classes, etc. Although this could change with the torrent of Nova students coming at us when the school's close next month. Thankfully, the workload will come after this challange. :POriginally Posted by Mister Peepers

I don't know if I am going to be able to pull a full 24 hours of this. I just tried 20 and fell short needing sleep. Japanese coffee is not strong enough.

Well, my so-called "marathon" from yesterday fizzled out as expected after 8 movies. Everyone left after only six and I flew solo for the last two. But on the bright side, it was a blast and it's the largest single day total I've had of the month so far.Originally Posted by ViewAskewbian

I am one away from tieing (SP?) my record from last year. I planned to watch a ton of Friday, but my daughter was home sick so that never happened. Although, I did manage to sneak in Return of the Living Dead while she napped.Originally Posted by The Monkees

I'm pretty sure I can tie last year's record, but just how far past that I get is up for grabs. My original goal of 31 is now just a pipe dream.
In the end, as long as I'm having fun watching the movies, all is good. I just wish I had the time to watch more. I just keep saying... "when the kids get older..."

I'm on hour 16 of a 24 attempt. I almost lost it like 6 hours ago, but got a second wind and am feeling pretty strong.
Speaking of strong, I really need to squeeze in a shower here.....
Have plenty of sweets and soda standing by, so I think I'll make it barring a power failure.
I'm having fun, but it is definitely beginning to feel like a chore. I don't think I'll do this 24 hour thing again. Once to say I can do it will be fine with me.

As long as you make good picks on what to watch. If I did 24 hours with all the b movies I've been watching, I'd fall asleep at some point when nobody talks for over 5 minutes or so because they're just walking around. I had to rewind The Killer Shrews because of that.Originally Posted by Trevor

I woke my wife up at 4 this morning and we ended up watching Identity. It was fine until the point where they explain what's happening. After that, the rest of the movie didn't matter to me anymore since I stopped caring.
I really liked Maniac for some reason. Watching the cat part while tired made me laugh.
