I believe it was the first one. First 10 mins and ya she's a hottie.

Reminds me of Annabeth Gish.

I finally decided to just get the 4-disc standard version. I figured the 5th disc and the case/extras wasn't worth the extra $20-25 that I'd rather spend on something else.

She also shows up a lot during the Philip K. Dick doc, naturally.

Has anyone else noticed that during the Voight-Kampff test Deckard does on Rachel, the english subtitles suddenly whip up dialogue from the scene where she visits his apartment and Deckard talks to her about her memories?

Just got my set in from Amazon, and the fifth disc came loose and was a little scratched. Should I contact Amazon about this?

This was a small review I wrote for the set a while Back:

I got the 5 disc set of this film for Christmas and it is quite possibly the greatest special edition ever made for a single film, the documentary material is fascinating to watch (especially the feature on the film's doomed release) whilst the deleted scenes are like a version pulled from Deckard's notebook and the promotional features show that Warner Brothers had no idea how to market the film properly, if the image galleries had been included as originally intended (sadly, they were dropped) it would have easily taken the cake but the other material makes up for their absence.

Oh, and the original versions being included is a very nice touch for die-hard fans.

So, my briefcase from Amazon.com arrived this week. Due to my impatience, I purchased a briefcase from Best Buy during release week and opened it and began watching it. I was initially thinking about returning the copy that arrived from Amazon and getting my money back from Best Buy, but since it's so limited at 103K copies, I will keep it unopened and see if it becomes a decent collectible item.

@103K, I think you'll be sitting on your "investment" for some time. The HD or BD sets have a better chance of becoming collectible, but even there, it's a long-shot.

I'm not sure I completely agree with this statement.

If you think you are going to see it rise in value like some of the rare Criterion titles, I agree...its not a very good investment.

If you think it will hold its value, or be worth $10 or $12 more bucks than you paid for it, then I think you may be right. This is true especially if you are holding an unopened set.

Because DVDs generally don't hold their value, and in fact we see the values plummet, it is a decent collectible just because it will likely hold its value.

I don't think we will have to contend with bootlegs of this set. So that won't be an option for the pirates or those willing to buy pirates for less money.

As time goes by, less and less of these things will be available on eBay or anywhere else. There will be demand for the few to go around.

While I would never look at something like a DVD as an investment, you may just pay for a meal out for two people on the profit you get if you sell this 5 or 6 years out. There will be plenty of "new" die hard Blade Runner fans that didn't discover the movie before now that will show interest in this set. IMO, what is more fun than the potential profit on the item is simply having something to display that others would really like to have - an unopened set. Certainly a rarer item as each day passes. How many of 103,000 will go unopened?

On eBay right now, there are three unopened standard DVD briefcase sets, and no Blu Ray or HD briefcase sets.

I thought this and using his son to fix out of sync dialog was pretty cool. I watched the Final Cut and Workprint today and I have to admit I am finally changing my mind on this whole debate. I had always liked the Theatrical and International cuts because I had watched the film that way for years, but the Final Cut has won me over. They improved greatly on the Director's Cut and now the voice over is finally starting to bother me. The little bit of voice over in the workprint, though not used outside of that, actually seemed natural and it fit the ending of that version. When you compare it to the delivery of Ford in the Theatrical you can see just how forced and out of place the narration is. That said much of the info in the narration is pretty helpful for people seeing this the first time. It can be a very confusing film the first time through.

It is an awesome situation because we get them all and I will watch them all, but I do finally see what Scott wanted and how the voice over doesn't really fit. If only Star Wars could get a release like this in 1080p with all versions given this kind of care.

I would say its "limited" to the maximum number of cases the Chinese factory can pump out before the brief case making machines wear out.

Which makes me wonder...how much lead poisoning I can expect if I ever desire to lick the briefcase or chew on the unicorn.

Well, after thinking about it for awhile, I went ahead and returned the unopened Amazon copy back to Best Buy with my original receipt and got my money back. I just couldn't justify keeping 2 copies even though it was tempting to keep the unopened copy as a collectible.

Hey xage, what is that sheet of paper in the second picture below the opened case, to the right of the blue sheet (it says Harry Potter on it I think)? I didn't get that in my case.

My SD case didn't have the white styrofoam sheet under the "letter".

I also noticed that one of the legs on the bottom of the case had broken off. I wonder when that managed to happen.

Has anyone posted a review of the workprint anywhere noting the differences?

Well, Paul Sammon's book has a detailed list of all the changes in the Workprint. Luckily he also provides commentary on the workprint where he makes note of the changes. If you're asking just to get a feel for it, I don't think the movie is hugely altered. Some key points:
- The Ladd logo opens with a white background
- Instead of a crawl, there's a dictionary definition of a replicant
- The opening credits are shorter and different
- The opening sequence lacks the cuts to the eye
- There's no narration until the end of the rooftop sequence at the end (which is different from the theatrical cut, but I believe is heard in the deleted scenes portion)
- Bryant correctly mentions that two replicants got fried instead of one
- There are some additional lines and additional/alternate shots here and there and some added background chatter
- The second half of the movie features temp music
- There's no happy ending and no end credits

I’ve got an HD-DVD drive on my laptop. It’s temping to buy the HD version, which would make it my first HD movie. Have a nice 22 inch WS monitor as well.
