It shipped today. I'm even more pissed now, though...one of their reps emailed me this morning, and assured me it was shipped yesterday and would arrive today, despite the fact that my card hadn't been charged and that there was no tracking #. I ordered two of them, one as a birthday present for someone, so I'm extremely pissed that Amazon didn't live up to their word.

I'm really torn on whether to get this. X-Files was my favorite TV show, for the first 5 or so seasons at least.
I own everything that has been released so far, the original 7 disc sets, the movie, the mythology sets.
However, I just recently bought 3 of the mythology sets and can still return them for another few days. If all the commentaries and featurettes from the mythology sets are truly carried over, that $60 can be put towards this set. That combined with an easy $80 or more from selling all my older sets, makes this a no-brainer I guess. But only if that B&N deal is still working, and only if those commentaries are truly carried over.
Anyone have it yet? Any reviews? None at this site yet.

I'm still waiting for someone to post pics. I have one, but it's a Christmas present, so of course, I'm not allowed to open it. But I wanna see the inside.

I saw the box at costco today... It's pretty much the same size as a standard shoe box. But it seems pretty sturdy and cool. But for $220 I can't see paying for it - especially since I already have the first three seasons.
But I've decided I'm not going to buy any more seasons and hope that a blu-ray is on the horizon, since I've been hearing rumors about Buffy & Angel supposedly going blu-ray next christmas (there was a Joss Whedon interview in Variety I think about him spending some of his free time due to the strick looking for deleted scenes and recording more commentaries).

I don't have the Mythology sets...but I can tell you that the season discs are identical to the original digipak discs. There's one bonus disc, but I don't know what's on it...it just says "Special Features".

And then you could quickly check those episodes in your ultimate set to see if they have commentary tracks on them.
Let me go look it up.

Before abrg923 repeats himself, I heard that the discs in this set have new disc artwork. So perhaps they are not actually those old, original discs.
A list of the Mythology commentaries and episodes would be nice.

Here are three. We'd love anyone who could check for us.
"Talitha Cumi" with R.W. Goodwin, "Memento Mori" with Rob Bowman, and "Max" with Kim Manners.
See, one press release claimed that these audio commentaries would be included. But that would require remastering, so some of us doubt that they are really included.
If they are not included, many of us completest types will keep the mythology sets.
I have 48 hours before my return window on them expires, so no hurry...

Why not just look it up? A quick search of the title came up with this:
Threads of the Mythology featurettes (Disc 61)
-Abduction
-Black Oil
-Colonization
-Super Soldiers
Other than this bonus disc, all the other discs are the same.
