I use the own the digi-packs for seasons 1-7, 9, but sold them for some extra cash when I went on vacation a few years ago. I'll be more than happy now to buy this entire set.

I got the season sets for $9.99 at BB a little while back. That's complete enough for me. These complete sets are perplexing: the packaging is neat, but for those who already own the series, is it really enough to drop another couple hundred dollars? But I'm speaking as someone whose wallet actually does have a bottom.

Yep. Put the X-Files on HD DVD or Blu-ray and we'll have more enthusiasm.

The packaging looks very very nice, but I'm still having a hard time deciding between picking up this box or just getting the individual seasons when their on sale for $20...

I don't know if I should keep the movie I have already or just go ahead and sell it in preparation... although I'll probably only get like $2 back, so it might be better to just keep it and wait and see...

I decided I'm definitely going to splurge on this. I'm selling off my old sets on eBay and figured that with the money from that combined with it hopefully been out in time for the DD sale (providing of course they have one), then I probably won't be out of pocket too much, and it'll be worth it to me.
I finally finished up Season 9 last week and had the urge to go back to the first season and start over since its been a few years since I watched those particular episodes. So, I think I'll hold off for the new release now.

Is it me or Season 1 just not very good at all?
I've been a big fan of X-files for years and i guess i never saw Season 1, i think i started watching Season 2 when it aired when i was 15 or 16 i believe and i've loved it ever since.
So now that the seasons are only 20$ i decided to buy them, so me and my girlfriend started watching season 1 not too long ago and WOW, watching these episodes i don't even know WHY i loved X-files so much. They're all pretty bad. I'm up to Episode 13 or 14 i think.
Is it because there isn't not season long story arc yet? Maybe but i remember in later seasons even the filler 'monster of the week' type episodes were better and stronger than these ones.
Even the ones written by Chris Carter are bad, which shouldn't happen! When the creator decides to write the episode it should be one of the best of the seasons (see Joss Whedon).
I just can't wait to get through season 1 and finally get to season 2 which i think if i remember correctly was pretty good!

While the show was clearly still trying to find its footing, I thought that Season 1 had a lot of great episodes.

Season one does have some very weak episodes (Jersey Devil, Space, Gender bender) but Beyond the Sea is amazing and other episode like Ice, Squueze, and Tooms are some of the best "monster-of-the-week" episodes of the series.

I still remember the day my friend called me to tell me that the Seasons were on sale for $64.99 (I'm referring to the original sets.) I had purchased them for $114.99 a week or two before and hadn't opened them because I was watching a season I already owned. I took all of the expensive ones back, re-bought them and saved $250!

I only cared for the mythology episodes. I didn't really care for monster-of-the-week shows. I have the mythology sets along with the movie. This seems like a really nice set, but I have what I want.

anyone get a copy today and care to share pics? i saw the set in-stores today... looks pretty nice. pretty space-saving and it's nice how there's new disc artwork to match. i'm kinda interested to see the movie poster. did they just fold it up and stick it in there?
