Well, I saw a copy out early yesterday at Best Buy and the slipcover was the one pictured in the ad and the cover was the one everybody else was selling. Maybe the slipcover was the exclusive. The copy I saw, as mentioned previously, had only the two extras listed.

What gives!?!

The slipcover is the best buy exclusive though it is not mentioned on the package.

How is a cardboard slipcover an exclusive? I know there's a few slipcover fanatics on this board - but seriously, who really cares?

are you kidding me?! this is why i usually love UK online stores exclusives mores than the US ones.

the UK ones are usually with special slipcover or good packaging (which is great if you are a serious collector).on other hand, the US exclusives are usually OMFG BONUS DICS WITH 30 MIN FLUFFY CRAP1?!?!!!??!?!!!?!?! yeah ppl go nuts for them, how sad.

I already posted a picture (taken from the Best Buy circular). It looks exactly the same (but bigger) in person.

You'd rather have a slipcover over a bonus disc? Where am I?

I don't even understand the point of a slipcover.

The two extras are the only ones on the disc -- what happened to the older featurettes? I didn't watch the features though, I suppose if they're stellar it makes no difference. Still it seems like kind of a weak SE.

hey...it's OK if you don't like slipcovers.i understand that, but sorry...if you prefer a bonus disc with fluffy 30 min promo crap over a slipcase then that's just BRAIN DAMAGING to me.

...and to me, your idea of a worthwhile exclusive is completely retarded as well. I'd rather have content, no matter how seemingly "fluffy", than a slipcover. Unless the slipcover is made of gold.

I'd rather prefer disc content than a piece of folded and embossed cardboard.

That's just me, though.

Sid Vicious would have said bullocks to these slip cover gimmicks.

Well, he would had he not been a part of The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle.

Um.....talk of slipcovers and fluff aside, can anybody comment on the transfer? How's the PQ....the AQ....you know, the stuff that matters?.....or is this the same transfer as the bare bones edition.

Thanks.

^ Get back up there... Yes please, how is the disc quality? I could give two shits about a slipcover.

So does anyone know what is on this new release? The Best Buy web site listing has different features/featurettes from the listing on the back of the DVD package. How long are the featurettes? Are they any good? How is picture/sound quality? Will this release be widely available in the future? (not even listed on Amazon or BN.com)

DVD Features:

Region 1
Keep Case
Anamorphic Widescreen - 1.85
Audio:
Dolby Digital Surround - English
Dolby Digital 5.1 - English
Additional Release Material:
Behind the Scenes - "My Way: The Making of SID & NANCY"
Featurettes - 1. "Love Kills: The Real Life of Sid and Nancy"
2. "The Hotel Chelsea - If These Walls Could Talk!"
So WTF happened with these features that were supposed to be on this disc? NONE of these are on here and the one I got today - is the one DDD had advertised?

Is there a different version than this one that got released? So much for the "collector's edition" - fuck...

Ruh roh... It doesn't have this cover does it?

If so, that's the old MGM release...

No, it was the one with union jack slip cover over it - as shown in a previous post here.

The old MGM release was barebones. The new release, which I've only ever seen at Best Buy, has two features: "For the Love of Punk" and "Junk Love".

I'm not sure what will show up should this disc ever appear elsewhere.

Has anybody seen it anywhere other than Best Buy yet? Keep in mind that the new cover (under the slipcase) just very much like the old cover.

Any A/V reviews? I don't care so much about the extras given that the Criterion disc is loaded with amazing ones (much better than those featurettes described above), but I'd love to pick it up if it's a spanking new, anamorphic transfer!

^ I've turned the net upside down looking for an A/V comparison to the older MGM release... So far, nothing.
