It's mine. Totally...been waiting for something like this for a while now. A surprisingly non-transgressive story about punk rock with possibly Gary Oldman's best lead role to date. That performance was just amazing; fuck Ray and Walk the Line (well, I really like the latter still), the man was Sid Vicious. Alex Cox is such an underrated director, man.

It's funny, a friend of mine seriously considered forking big money for the Criterion disc a year or two back, and I'm sure he'll be all over this one.

I'm really happy about this too. I have the Criterion but I'm looking forward to hearing what extras are on this one.

I only have the bare-bones edition, so this is a definate double-dip for me.

Good price, good movie. My son loves the movie and the Sex Pistols. We will be buying this.

Excellent news on this release. I will definately be picking this one up. Is this going to be the "What about the goodbye drugs" edition? ;)

Whoa, coolness. I have both versions and I'll gladly upgrade the MGM but no way in hell am I getting rid of the Criterion UNLESS they can get the same set of extras, which I seriously doubt. This is the one CC that I kept just for the extras. Also, they need to correct the transfer. It's nice having an anamorphic copy and all but the PQ is still better on the CC.

I've got the Criterion also but would be willing to double dip for some decent new extras.

I (foolishly) sold my OOP Criterion edition years ago, so a new SE will be a nice buy for a low price. I hope it's got some great extras on it. I would also prefer better cover art than the barebones edition.

I completely agree. The Criterion extras on this disc are absolutely essential. I'll never part with it.

And I can only hope that MGM provides a proper anamorphic transfer with correct framing and color timing and none of that digital filtering that turns it all to crap. I'm very hopeful, but I have serious doubts that it'll be on-par with the Criterion, even though the CC is non-anamorphic. But, fingers crossed....

Gary Oldman's ultimate performance, IMHO. He literally disappears into this character. Chloe Webb offered an equally stunning portrayal of Nancy.

That's "farewell drugs". :D

Based on the footage I've seen, Oldman was even more "Sid Vicious" than Sid Vicious was.

Looks like it's just an exclusive cover (slipcover, maybe?).

I work at Best Buy. I have been waiting to buy this so I went and I found it in the back.

The DVD somewhat bafflingly doesn't list the features that were announced (BB.com does). Until proven otherwise I'm assuming (hoping) that these features are included in addition to the two listed on the back, but this is a 112m movie, it seems like a lot potentially crammed on.

The exclusive features appear to be: "For the Love of Punk" and "Junk Love". That is all it says on the back (it doesn't call them "featurettes" or "documentaries" or anything like that). The UPC is 027616089915 and this was the only Sid and Nancy DVD I saw in the new release boxes/in the computer system.

The packaging itself does not list anywhere on it that it is a Best Buy Exclusive.

Hmmm. That UPC appears to be the same one used by everybody else. Why is this release such a mystery? Was the DVD packaged in a slipcase? If so what did the cover look like? What did the slipcase look like?

Under the slipcover was the standard cover. I really hope the specs haven't been wrong all this time and these two extras are all we're getting. It is just confusing as to why the other three features aren't listed.

Thanks. I guess we'll know tomorrow. I'd really like to find out if the BB release has anything special to it other than the slipcover.
