Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Version 2.0

Starting thread at moderators request.

Repeating the previous rules:

The thread is to have a discussion on all wrestling DVD related topics.

There is another thread, which I have to update, that has the upcoming DVD releases.

For weekly wrestling discussion, you can go to the Sports forum at DVDTalk, where MovieExchange keeps a very nice weekly thread with all the news pertaining to pro wrestling. He even has Pay Per View contest!

Don't post active ebay auctions. Don't talk about bootlegs. Don't threadcrap. And please keep general wrestling discussion on the Sport section of DVDTalk.

Let the talking begin....

I guess I'll post the first news in here. We got the Vengeance DVD at Blockbuster today and the Bonus disc has Orton & King Booker Vs. Lashley & Cena and The Hardys Vs. Cade & Murdoch.

Don't see why the hell it matters how long a post is, and why it should be closed just to start a new one...

Anyways, I'm hoping the BB I get my WWE dvds from still has One Night Stand on Tuesday. I haven't had a chance to go there till then, but at least I should be able to get Vengeance.

Yeah the only one I think I would pass on is Batista. Everything else would be sweet! Funny that Stone Cold's set is listed on that, considering a lot of websites had it scheduled to come out early August, but now I guess it isn't. Jeeeez....2008 is going to be expensive.

not dvd news...but....

It is with a sad heart that I must report that John Kronus, better known to fans as one-half of the popular former ECW Tag Team Championship team The Eliminators with Perry Saturn, was found dead today in his apartment in New Hampshire.

As of right now, there are no further details as to what lead to Kronus's death. We will keep you informed as more information is released, and all of us here at LOP wish to express our condolences to the friends and family of John Kronus during this time of mourning.

I'm not even much of a wrestling fan anymore & I would get all of those with the exeption of the Batista DVD, He's a horrible wrestler in my opinion & he always makes mistakes in the ring that could potentially seriously hurt someone. Instead of a Best of Starrcade, I would like too see a Starrcade anthology. I hope all of those get released because they all sound quite entertaining & it'll bring me back to the good ole' days of wrestling when wrestling was good ole' fashion fun.

realsandman420, thanks for the Kronus update, but if it's not about DVDs then it should really go in the weekly wrestling discussion that goes on in the SPORTS TALK forum. Thanks!

I ordered this from TNA: https://store.nexternal.com/dns/images/VRSpecial2.jpg

Can't wait to get it. Will be putting up the DVDs for sale to get most of my money back.

Count me in as one who would get all of those potential WWE sets listed with the exception of Batistsa, Summer Slam (not a big enough fan to own all of them on DVD) and possibly Triple H (depends on the match listing). I would love to see a Starrcade anthology but I realize that is unlikely. At the very least I wish they would release a Starrcade set from 1983 to 1987 which were the "golden years" of the Jim Crockett Promotions era that I watched religiously.

I'm interested in seeing what they would do to all the Chris Benoit footage in SummerSlam: The Complete Anthology.

Though I probably won't be buying it anyway, if they remove Benoit it will be a definate no-no. Regardless of the circumstances it would be just wrong to delete the footage.

I'm going to vote for Austin, Rock, SummerSlam, HIAC, Mr. Perfect, Savage, Edge, Starrcade, Owen Hart, and Sting.

Why do they have to tease us?... we all know there is no chance of Macho Madness DVD coming out soon… anybody who has watched WWE programming or purchased any WWE DVDs over the past few years knows that WWE refuses to admit his greatness and tries at all cost to even acknowledge his existence. Only Chris Benoit’s legacy and contributions will be more forgotten than those of Savage.

Also… I must ask, why is there no mention of the multi disc compilation "The Life & Limericks of Leaping Lanny Poffo"???

Not 100% true as matches with Savage have been in some compilation DVDs.

anyone knows that the Royal Rumble Anthology Box has been discontinued? What´s the reason for this, Chris Benoit? It disapeared from most major online stores or is there a way to get this box for a good deal for internatinal customers?

Actually, Macho Man has been praised in many DVDs like the Wrestlemania 3 re-release. He is constantly mentioned as being part of many classic encounters.

It was discontinued before the Chris Benoit thing went down. WWE carry these big sets for a limited time only.

his matches and 'moments' have been included sparingly and only when completely necessitated. Anyone who thinks Savage feuds and matches aren't over looked on DVD releases... need to look no further than the Jake Robert's DVD...where the Savage feud was glossed over, and no match with Savage was included even though many would argue the Roberts/Savage match at Tuesday in Texas and the second to last Saturday Night's Main Event on FOX were Robert’s most emotional matches. Also, no mention of the Poffos on the recent Greatest Families DVD as well as Savage’s exclusion on the Greatest Stars of the 80’s DVD were completely laughable and blatantly political. The fact that with all the promotion of WrestleMania 23 and the tie-in to the anniversary of WrestleMania III never once included a Savage reference or video clip was a direct slap in his face, as his match with Steamboat was the show stealer that night and was highly regarded as groundbreaking at the time and remains to this day as one of the greatest matches in the history of the WrestleMania event. Believe me, I could go on and on regarding this, as it is has become routine on the part of WWE…it was well known that he has "heat" with Vince, although nobody seems to really know why...and as always, it is the fans who are made to suffer as a result of these nonsensical grudges.
