Wrong Turn 2: Dead End --> Oct 9 2007

Just read this over at bloody-disgusting:

IN THE FOREST… ONLY THEY CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM

WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END

Henry Rollins Stars In The Highly-Anticipated Unrated Sequel
With Commentaries, Behind-The Scenes Featurettes And More
On DVD October 9 From Fox Home Entertainment

CENTURY CITY, Calif. – Terror takes a frightening turn. Fox Home Entertainment presents a graphic and disturbing homage to the 1980s splatter sequels when WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END comes around the bend on DVD October 9. A film that “eagerly serves up the juicy stuff,” and is highly anticipated by horror fans, this chilling sequel to the surprise hit film returns to the woods of West Virginia; a backdrop for the new reality television show “The Apocalypse: Ultimate Survivalist.” As the contestants compete in various challenges to test their physical and mental prowess they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives as they are stalked and hunted by a family of mutant, inbred cannibals.

From first-time director Joe Lynch, recently named one of Gorezone magazine’s “Gore Group,” a list of audacious horror directors that included such notable names as Rob Zombie (Halloween, The Devils Rejects) and Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever); WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END features a talented cast of young horror veterans including Erica Leerhsen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2), Texas Battle (Final Destination 3), Daniella Alonso (The Hills Have Eyes II, Hood of Horror), Crystal Lowe (Black Christmas, Snakes on a Plane), Aleksa Palladino (The Ring Two) and the incomparable Henry Rollins (Feast, Lost Highway).

Available only in an Unrated Edition featuring intense and shocking footage, WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END includes feature commentary from Rollins, Leerhsen and Lynch, an additional commentary track with writers Turi Meyer and Al Septien, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END is available for a suggested retail price of $26.98 U.S./ $37.98 Canada.

DVD Special Features:
The WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END DVD is presented in widescreen (1.78:1) with English Dolby Surround 5.1, French & Spanish Dolby Stereo plus English and Spanish subtitles. Bonus content includes:
“More Blood, More Guts: The Making of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End” featurette
“Making Gore Look Good” featurette
“On Location With P-Nut”
Feature commentary by director Joe Lynch and actors Erica Leerhsen and Henry Rollins
Feature commentary by writers Turi Meyer and Al Septien

I really loved the first Wrong Turn (I thought it was a sign of the return of old school horror). As certain as I am of how much this will suck, I still hold out hope.

I always hoped (when I first heard of a sequel) they would do something like "Southern Comfort". Reservists or National Guard vs. inbred hick family, kinda like Dog Soldiers did with werewolves.

Well, I wouldn't say I was "highly-anticipating this", like I said, I'm sure it will suck.

I did really like the original and would "highly-anticipate" a well made sequel.

I'll give it a rental, but mainly for the commentary... No way I'd buy it though.

I know some people that have seen a good amount of footage from this and word is that it's a lot of fun and really bloody. I'm not expecting "the Citizen Kane of gore films", but it could be worth a watch. I'll probably jump on it once it hits $10.

Me too. Direct to DVD sequels scare me, though. And not in a good way.

Yes, Wrong Turn is a true love of mine. Along with Jeepers Creepers and Haute tension this film started a whole new wave of horror, and it will be a shame to witness this disaster as I hold no hope.

I thought the first one was decent & I'm not going crazy over this but I'll get it on Oct. 9th. Having Completest Syndrome is a bitch!

Totally agree. Those movies were great. Horror is tanking so far this year at the box office as well. The torture/porn genre has burned out. Would like to see a return of the aforementioned "new wave".

Let's hope for big numbers from 'Halloween' and 'Saw 4.'

That cracked me up too. I'm assuming he directed some well received short films or something, and they mean first-time feature director.

This would be a good time for an unrated version of the first to be on DVD...

I would double dip.

Direct to video features like this don't need a demand. All they need is a mildly successful film title to borrow and they make their money back no problem.

Exactly. I started a thread once regarding WT's unrated version. As far as I remember a conclusion was made the release of the second part is the right time for it. I'd double dip without hesitation too.
