^Don't know, but it appears not to be.

1 update today:
Titles which ARE anamorphic, but does not say so on the packaging:

Botti is indeed anamorphic.

Any clue on the new (issued last month) "American President"? It states "enhanced for widescreen TVs" clearly on the slightly-modified new package (with a 2008 copyright)

^Thanks for the info on Botti, will update the list, do you have a UPC?

About American President, according to a recent post in the Big Lots bargains thread, it's not. Just another sloppy repackage.
So I'll add it to the list, is the UPC 883929039982?

Thanks!

American President re-release in amaray case (UPC#883929039982) is NOT anamorphic, though case states "Enhanced for Widescreen TV's". It's the same crap disc as in the old snapper release.

Also, not sure if this belongs here or not:
Indian Summer (UPC#786936188301) case states Fullscreen (1.33:1), but I bought it anyway, since it's the only version available and I love the film. I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole film IS presented in full 2.35:1 WS, though it is not anamorphic.

what about Run Lola Run, the version that dropped the FS on SIDE B and only kept a WIDESCREEN 1:85?

please add the pointless re-release from Lionsgate of 'LOVE AND A .45' to the non-anamorphic listing (new cover is 'confusing' - says 'widescreen' on front - letterbox on back - and Lionsgate's website says widescreen for films that we know are 16x9 (like SAW).

As for contacting Lionsgate - its pointless - they haven't responded to my emails.

Re: The official "Is this title anamorphic?" thread

When I played my Black Christmas: SE (2006, Critical Mass) and Prom Night (2007, Echo Bridge) DVD's on my computer, I was surprised to find that WinDVD listed them as being 4:3 (non-anamorphic). Both say they are anamorphic on the package, but now I'm not so sure. I've never known WinDVD to be off like that before, so I'm perplexed. Unfortunately, I don't have a widescreen TV to verify it on.

I have this and it is indeed anamorphic and listed as such on back of package.

***EDIT*** I was wrong, it is not anamorphic.

Is the Starman being sold on Amazon, DVDPlanet, and DeepDiscountDVD (single disc) anamorphic? I looked at the first post and it's listed, but the Amazon reviews state it isn't.

Nothing worse than watching a Carpenter flick in foolscreen.

"Starman" is one of the Sony titles which used to have a WS copy on one side and a FS copy on the other. At some point in time, Sony dropped the WS side but stupidly never changed the UPC. They did this for a bunch of titles. I still see the WS/FS copies for sale every now and then at Borders, where I got my copy. I would not trust any on-line store to send you anything other than the FS.

I believe that the WS side was anamorphic, if you can find it.

Oh, supposedly, the two-sided release (WS/FS) is available in the "John Carpenter's 3-Pack":

Re: The official "Is this title anamorphic?" thread

Buena Vista Social Club, at DVD Empire, they have listed the full screen as being anamorphic 1.33:1. On the 2 film pack Down From The Mountain / Buena Vista Social Club, it lists it as widescreen and it too is listed as being anamorphic at 1.75:1.

Which is correct?

Re: The official "Is this title anamorphic?" thread

DVDCompare lists it as anamorphic 1.78:1 as does the Digitally Obsessed review which states "Artisan's packaging bills this DVD transfer as a "16:9 Fullscreen" image, "formatted to fit your screen."This is accurate, but a bit confusing—the film is presented in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio, not the theatrical release's slightly-cropped 1.85:1 ratio, and does in fact provide a full-screen anamorphic image on a 16:9 widescreen display."

Re: The official "Is this title anamorphic?" thread

geez, forgot to update this a while back...updated today finally

Yes:
Risk 031398796923
Bread And Roses 658149788626
The Savages 024543506799
Buena Vista Social Club 012236101765 Packaging is confusing. Says 16:9 Fullscreen and Enhanced for 16:9. Actually it's 1.78:1 anamorphic, slightly opened up from the 1.85:1 theatrical ratio.

No:
Capricorn One 012236047506
Cabaret 085392798629 (Some packaging incorrectly states "Enhanced for Widescreen TVs")

added a new section...
Titles which aren't even Widescreen, but says it is on the packaging:
Year Of The Gun 043396040953 Says 1.66:1, but is actually 1.33:1
