Reviews and Rewind state anamorphic so I would trust that it is. Back cover does state anamorphic also.

Sometimes they are wrong but typically it is when there are only a review or two and/or every site having different info. Those are the times to be the most skeptical I think.

In the recently released Darren Aronofsky Collection the back cover lists "Pi" as being 16X9 Widescreen which is incorrect. This is the same disc that was released years ago just in a new packaging with "Requiem for a Dream".

Fox is getting pretty sloppy with their specs as of late. The new version of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert doesn't state anamorphic, but it is.

I have this packed away at the moment, but I think it's anamorphic. I checked a few sites and that's what they're also saying.

It is. All the titles I listed under that unstated anamorphic section are confirmed anamorphic but not labeled as such on the cover.

Tully, listed under unknown, was the only one in that post that I'm not sure of.

Sorry, I was actually able to get Best Buy to give me my money back. They kept insisting that it wasn't anamorphic because it was shot 1.85.

How obtuse of a company, MGM/Fox, to deliberately omit some form of anamorphic designation. Hopefully some of the DVD press release sites that have direct contact will get them to reconsider this odd decision.

Though, sadly, some still don't specify anamorphic/non-anamorphic consistently in reviews (including some DVDTalk reviews which don't state anamorphic or not unless the back cover states it.. kudos to the ones that always list accurate specs). Buy a used version of PowerDVD if needed for a couple bucks. Should have been mandated by all sites to their reviewers long ago.

Perhaps include those that remain unknown in the first post also?

One addition. Stir Crazy (043396032941) *is* anamorphic though it doesn't say so. And I know I've seen a few that say they are, but actually aren't- I'm pretty sure at least a couple were Lion's Gate releases from a few years back, but I can't remember the titles. If I run across them again, I'll be sure to mention. Thanks, basaro.

Hey y'all, just to confirm--Carpenter's The Thing that you are talking about--stated "anamorphic" but isn't--do you mean the digipack Collector's Edition that came out around 2003? Not the original 1998 release, right?
Because I want to get the anamorphic release, so if there is a non-anamorphic pressing of the same edition, I want to be sure to avoid it.

It's not a digipack (it does have a shiny slipcover that might make it look like one)- it came out in Oct. 2004. That's the anamorphic one.

Ah, OK. I already have the '98 letterboxed, so the '04 with the stupid new cover is definitely anamorphic. I could swear I've seen pictures of it as a fold-out digipack. I didn't realize the '98 said "anamorphic".

I have started using post #2 to keep track of titles we still need confirmation on, as well as periodically listing them in an update post such as this one.

Note: Because of the rising number of Fox/MGM titles not stating anamorphic on recent packaging, I may decide not to list any of these new titles except when there is an exception. MGM/Fox seems to be saying "all our titles are anamorphic unless stated otherwise". We'll see. ;)
