Fright Night UPC - 043396056299
Freeway Re-release UPC - 017153211610

Also, French Kiss, When A Man Loves A Woman and Beautiful Girls aren't packaging errors, as none are listed as being anamorphic.

Another packaging error is The Color of Money, which states anamorphic and isn't.

The Thing (1986) first pressing is not anamorphic despite the disk saying so.

H20 is indeed a packaging error? Have the UPC?

Thanks!
Re: GWH. Apparently it was re-released with a slightly different cover at some point, same UPC, that erroneously stated anamorphic but with the same transfer. I can't find a back cover scan of that cover but see this thread.

Can't speak on behalf of H20 UPC 717951001795 but reviews and cover suggests that it was correctly labeled non-anamorphic. It could have been re-released with a different cover that stated non-anamorphic though so this needs further confirmation.

And the new release of Ravenous does not says it is anamorphic, does it? It was just a packaging re-release anyway, wasn't it? The disc is the same?

Cheers!
Ravenous is accurately listed on the new cover as non-anamorphic.

The Quick and the Dead, UPC 043396735194, doesn't state anamorphic but is according to reviews and Rewind. gryffinmaster is a reviewer here so I would wait for additional confirmation as I'm basing it solely on Rewind and the reviews. I believe all other releases of it state anamorphic (Superbit, Bite the Bullet 2 pack).

Thanks everyone, updated.

Still waiting for additional confirmation on:
The Quick And The Dead (1st regular release)
H20

And missing a few UPC's if anyone has them.
E.T. (2-Disc Limited Collector's Edition) Grabbed it from dvdempire
Don Juan Demarco (keepcase re-release)

Cheers!

Please add the Schwarzenegger Collection (Predator, True Lies, Commando) to your list of DVD's that have false advertising packaging. Fox lists all 3 as being anamorphic, but not a damn one of them are.

Stark Raving Mad is anamorphic, but merely says "Widescreen Presentation" in the description. UPC 043396024878

What about the new Sergio Leone's? I know theres a huge thread about it, I think someone said no, but then dvdnews says yes, but the box says no.

So are the new Dollars trilogy and Duck You Sucker anamorphic?

Which version?

The new purplish cover one (15th anniversary) is anamorphic.
The older version (Special Edition) with silver cover and in a 2-disc alpha style case was not marked anamorphic unless there are different covers than the one I have. Of course there are also releases earlier than that if that's what you mean, but those are long OOP, and I see no point in tracking those now.

The first two releases of The Doors were indeed non-anamorphic. I no longer have the original single-disc release, but I do have the two-disc, and it doesn't say anamorphic on it anywhere, in fact the pictures indicate letterboxing on the cover.

However, the 15-Year Anniversary Edition that came out last year is anamorphic and says so on the cover.

Recent Fox/M-G-M titles not designated as 16x9 on the back cover grid

I'm assuming these titles are just a few among a new Fox policy that omits any indication of 16x9 formatting on all widescreen titles:
The Sun Also Rises
A Farewell To Arms
Adventures of a Young Man

These are the scope titles in the Ernest Hemingway Film Collection box set (0024543253020.)

Also, from M-G-M:
China Doll - 0027616073822
Play Dirty - 0027616073914

:Unstated anamorphic titles:

About Last Night (043396073593).. original release stated widescreen (now full screen only.. same UPC)
Big Brass Ring, The (043396043886).. states widescreen
Dancer, Texas Pop. 81 (043396027152).. states widescreen
Desert Blue (043396043893).. states widescreen
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (012236132035).. states widescreen
Limbo (043396040946).. states widescreen
Live from Baghdad (026359202827).. states aspect ratio as 16x9, rather than the typical widescreen 16x9, so it could go either way if you like)
Mystic Masseur, The (043396001923).. states widescreen
Roswell: Seasons 1-3 (024543105329, 024543146902, 024543173434).. states widescreen
Sense and Sensibility (both 043396115996 & 043396077188).. states deluxe widescreen so it could go either way if you like (LE w/book, 043396077188, actually just says widescreen.. no deluxe)
Sex, Lies and Videotape (043396904897).. states widescreen
Splendor (043396043848).. states widescreen
Stander (043396087903).. states widescreen
Stargate SG-1: Seasons 1-9? (non-slim pack releases.. UPC's).. initial release didn't specify but the re-releases do state anamorphic
Two for the Road (024543208129).. states widescreen
Wings of Desire (027616887450).. the MGM/Fox reissue states widescreen

:Unknown:

Tully (829567000625).. I recall someone on DVDTalk saying it was anamorphic during one of the past DD 20% off sales but I can't find the post so I'm not entirely sure anymore. Would love confirmation either way on this one.

Keep posting more?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the new Trading Places SE is anamorphic? I assumed that it would be but someone left feedback on Amazon that it is not.

Living Dead, thanks for the confirmation, I just slapped my copy in and it is!
I will update the list, thanks!

^JoeR63, Can't confirm, but the previous release is anamorphic, so the new one likely is too. Someone else should be able to confirm and I will add it to the list.

abintra and thewWtcher, thanks for the info I will update the list.

I am swamped today, but will update the list later tonight. Keep 'em coming, thanks!
