That kind of sucks... The Price set conatins all movies that have been or will be separately released... but the Corman set has 2 movies (Bloody Mama & The Young Racers) that have not been released as part of the MM line and have not been announced as separate releases, so to get them I'll have to buy a set with 6 movies I already own.

Yep, it;s exactly what I expected them to do. It's a dirty trick really, forcing people into double-dipping that way though of course the prices have not yet been settled.

Luckily, I have all the Price movies (excluding Witchfinder General, which is being released on it's own; not that it matters as we already have it here in r2-land anyway!)

I guess they think that those two Corman movies just aren't going to selll as standalones, unlike the Price film.

Interesting to see what the next sets might be. I keep hoping we'll get the Dr Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine/Girl Bombs double feature

No midnite movie logos? I wonder if they'll be redesigning the covers.

I'm buying the Price set for the bonus disc, I'll trade in all the others I already have for that.

Not listed on DVD Drive-In's (awesome) upcomgin cover art page is the special edition of Irwin Allen's The Lost World (1960), which, according to Amazon, comes with the original 1925 version as well. The cover art is pretty slick:

Someone mentioned today on the DVDManiacs forums that it indeed is uncut, but that the director commentary that was recorded and the storyboard comparisons didn't make it onto the disc.

Hey Soop, can you also update your list on what movies are included in the Roger Corman box set released on the 18th? Thanks!

I just heard that the Witchfinder General dvd due out Tuesday is the cut U.S version, Is this true? If it is that really sucks. But I have to get it anyway, just a bit disapointed if it's true.

No, producer Philip Waddilove has confirmed to DVD Drive-In that the movie will not only be presented as Michael Reeves’ director cut, but will also contain the original music score by Paul Ferris which was removed from all previous home video versions in the U.S.

Interesting fact: It was retitled The Conqueror Worm in the U.S. simple to cash in on the success of the Price/Corman American International Pictures based on Poe.

I've not got the Tales from the Crypt/Vault of Horror double myself yet, but I know several people who have, and they both confirm that Vault of Horror is indeed the censored edition. The cuts are:

The "blood on tap" in the first story is reduced to a single freeze frame. This is the most severe, and most jarringly obvious cut. You will be left in no doubt that there should have been more.

In the second story, when the hammer is used, there are a few frames of blood spattering that are removed.

In the last story, the hand-severing scene has some frames of stumps spurting blood removed.

The first cut is by far the worst and most detrimental.

This edition is often the one that broadcasters use (as was done recently here in the UK). It may be that Fox were unware of a more complete edition, the uncut elements may have been low quality (although IMHO that is better than not having them)...or it may have been sheer incompetence.

I have the only uncut DVD release, the UK "Vipco" one. It is uncut and complete, but the image quality is dire and it's in 4:3 as well.

Man, this is pretty bad news. I've been waiting to have an official, decent looking, uncut copy of 'Vault of Horror' in my collection for a while. It sucks that they went with an edited version, but I'll be somewhat happy if it looks nice. The last time the Fox Movie Channel showed it (a few years back), it looked horribly dirty with lots of grain. Knowing how much effort MGM puts into cleaning up their Midnite Movies for release, I hope Fox does the same.

Nebiroth, maybe you can help. I also own the Vipco dvd (early pressing with the cover art of the hand coming out of the tomb). Both you and IMDB say that in 'The Neat Job'
Spoiler:
after Eleanor hits her husband, blood squirts out. On my copy, it shows her screaming, swinging the hammer, then a shot of Terry-Thomas with two streaks of blood on his forehead (already in place-not dripping down) but no blood squirting at all. He then falls backward slowly.
I figured on IMDB it might have been an exaggeration on what the actual scene showed, but since you also said it, can you post a screengrab of the blood squirt?

Also, any confirmation on whether 'Tales From the Crypt' is the version that has
Spoiler:
the shot of the intestines when the wife is hacking up her husband in 'Wish You Were Here?'

Booo. I just saw the cover and got interested and then learned this in the same like two minutes. Not that I won't still check it out, but that sucks. How expensive could it possibly be to include stuff YOU ALREADY HAVE?

Fox pulled this same crap with One Million Years BC... releasing only the shorter and inferior US cut, and then offering no explanation as to why.

I'm wondering about the retail presence of these discs. The Borders I work at didn't get any of the 9/11 titles, nor did the FYE in town and Best Buy doesn't appear to be getting them either. Wal-Mart's my last hope. Yikes!
