Sigh. I hope this release has more involvement with Arnie than Fletch did with Chevy...

I wonder if some of the extended footage will be some of the scenes that were trimmed for violence, specifically the toolshed scene.
I seem to recall they said it was filmed with him cutting the guy's arm off, the guy screaming, and Matrix slapping the guy in the face with his own severed arm.

But, you can't talk about the amazing gayness of Commando without mentioning Bennett. In fact, if I ever go back to school, my thesis will detail how the late twentieth/early twenty-first century embracing of homosexuality stems from Vernon Wells' portrayal of this particular character. After I'm done, West Hollywood will be renamed "Vernon Wells." Where to even start... Bennett spends nearly the entire movie wearing the following outfit:
Leather pants
A black, sleeveless T-shirt
A chain mail vest
A large belt that turns said chain mail into a little skirt
Fingerless leather gloves
A dog chain choker
A flat top
A push broom moustache
A leather belt that he wore around the chain mail vest, making it seem as if he were wearing a skirt. Yes, I stated this point earlier, but holy fuck does it need repeating!

I can't wait! I've held off on this so long because it wasn't anamorphic.
Like others said, I'd love for True Lies and Ravenous to be re-released in anamorphic versions, Fox.

and the week before the uncut version of 'From Beyond'
Warner's should release 'Cruising' and 'The Devils' in September as well, I'd be a very happy camper.

As much as people complain about all these re-releases, I'm happy because althrough i have been collecting DVD's since 2001 I really didn't starting going every tuesday till about the fall of 2004 so with all these re-releases of great movies coming out I couldn't be happier & althrough I still am a bigger TV ON DVD collector (& always will be) I'm very exicted to see good treatment for some of the best movies ever.
Will def. pick it up in sept, for is going to get alot of my business with there damn re-release's.

I don't know why but this is a bad movie that is so rewatchable. Looking forward to this as the other was non-anamorphic. Anyone else think the main villian, Bennett (Vernon Wells) was a bit goofy?

A guy falls out of an airplane hundreds of feet in the air, lands in a swamp, then walks away like its no big deal.
And all you can think of is the villain being a bit goofy?
He fits in perfectly if you ask me.

Outstanding news. Never expected this.
Guard- "Slitting a little girl's throat is like cutting warm butter."
Bennett- "Put the knife away and shut your mouth."

Great news, indeed. Big props to Fox for going the extra mile and giving both cuts of the film. Really wish more-- heck, all-- movies were released that way. Not sure why the commentary is on the theatrical cut rather than the director's, but no biggie. Just glad we're getting this.

From the main website...
"1. During John Matrix's (Schwarzenegger's) climactic siege on Arius' (Dan Hedaya's) villa to reclaim his daughter (a very young Alyssa Milano), the infamous "toolshed" sequence was trimmed of two brief, though graphic, moments; the guard being downed by an axe to the groin was removed, and the guard who has his arm chopped off by Matrix with a machete, as well as the subsequent shot of him screaming in pain at his bleeding stump, were removed in their entirety."
