My wal-mart got about 15 copies. I cleaned out my best-buy though, they got 2 copies. I got one for me and one for a friend. They didnt even have them out on display when I got there at open, I asked the guy working there and he had to get it from the back storage area, he referred to it as the taxi driver limited edition when he communicated the title to another employee over his headset.

My Borders received none, but then again, there's a lot they don't get on release day. -ohbfrank-

Proud to report that this release is sitting on my shelf, ready to be dissected later on within the next day or two. The little half-ass slipcover on the lefthand side is a bit unimpressive, but everything else is very, very nice.

I got off work at 6 and headed to the nearest Best Buy. They had a slot for it but it was sold out. I then went to Borders and Circuit City only to find out they didn't even get any copies. I went to another Best Buy where they had two copies left. I snatched one copy up and grabbed Inland Empire on my way out.
Looking forward to watching all of this tonight. |
Huh, that stinks. Are people having some problems grabbing copies of this that didn't order it online?
|
I see a few people listing this on ebay as "LIMITED COLLECTOR'S EDITION."
Just how damn "Limited" is this? I see a lot of people on the forum are having trouble finding it. Either way...I'm about to order mine on Amazon. |
My Best Buy didn't recieve any, I had to go to Circuit City and they didn't even have them out yet. I asked the women in video if she had it, she looked in a thick book and typed a upc in and nothing came back. SO she says she'll go check in the drama section(I had already). As she is over there I scan here cart that has new releases on it and found about 3 copies. That's it 3 copies.

i was going to wait until DDD's sale in december to buy this, but all these "limited edition" comments got me nervous as I've already sold off the regular edition. First time in years I've bought a DVD that wasnt during one of DDDs sales.
|
At the first Best Buy I went to the tag on the slot where Taxi Driver was read "Taxi Driver ltd. edition $19.99."
I got scared after going to three places with no luck. |
Still waiting very anxiously for my copy to arrive.
|
Just ordered mine from amazon. Is there any reason to keep my old copy besides the darker video transfer?
|
The new release doesn't include the film's trailer. The older release also has some cast bios and production notes.

Went to Best Buy today to get this (along with The Lookout and Inland Empire). I didn't see it in the new releases, so I check the drama. Still didn't spot it, so I ask a clerk who was walking by. It actually was in the drama section, I just didn't spot it because there were only two copies, facing spine out. But here's the funny part. This is the EXACT conversation I had with the clerk:
Me: Hi, did you get in any copies of Taxi Driver today? The new special edition? Him: Uh, is that a movie? Me: ...yes. Him: Uh... is it a comedy? Me: ...no. Him: Hmm, ok let me check. And who says Best Buy employees are dumbasses? |
I didn't see any at Best Buy either, but luckily I had already bought a copy earlier in the day at Target. I only saw about three copies when I was there at about 10:30am or so.

They didn’t even have it listed in their computer at Wal-Mart (if she typed it correctly) & they only had 2 copies at Future Shop. Future Shop & Best Buy are owned by the same company so that probably the only reason why they had it available at Future Shop. |
Got mine at walmart, they had about 10 copies.
|
Did an inventory search at BestBuy.com and NONE of the BB in my area (30 mile radius) had this in stock. Stopped at Target at lunchtime and picked up their final copy for $16.99!
|
Did the same thing. No Best Buy on the list has it. Just for fun did a Borders inventory check and all the stores say "order" meaning "This title is temporarily out of stock or is not stocked at this store. Ordered items usually arrive within 1-6 weeks."
Why would they make this so "Limited?" |

haha. good answer. |
I'll feel a lot more at ease once I get the shipping confirmation e-mail from ch.com.
:grumble: Anyone else go this route? |
