No folders, but you could use filters, where you can assign seperate A-Z/genre ones and assign the discs to them.

A few months ago I put most of my collection on DVDSpot, so that helps. But the old dvdaf was perfect. I really don't see dvdaf2 getting much better in the near future. They have been working on this thing for like 2 years now and it still seems like a pre-alpha version. I always thought the concept of an upgrade was to add features while making the overall product more user-friendly.

DVDSpot is pretty good with any legitimate release. There are a lot of bonus discs already in the database. If you search for Bonus disc on the site you'll find a ton of them. If you want to submit some just try to fill out as much info as you can and leave a note for the editor as to where the disc came from and any other information that might be necessary.

Filters! Filters! Filters! DVDSpot currently allows you to use a maximum of 50 filters to organize your collection as you see fit. Not to mention that you can view your collection by letter when you bring it up (just above the search section in the center of the page).

The filters apply only to my view and not any public viewers, though, correct? I'd prefer otherwise.

The filters can be used by anyone viewing your collection.

I use filters to sort my movies by decade, and my TV shows by genre.

Guess I'll toy around with the site a bit more. I'm not really felling it, but that's possibly because... the wounds from... from DVDAf are still too fresh.

Now that I figured out how to display "all owned", I don't mind the new DVD AF so much. But I do still prefer the old version (at least for now).

thanks.

Too bad it only shows 50 at a time and does not include the separated subfolders.

On my collection homepage at DVDAF it says I have about 150 less dvds than I really do, but when I click on the folders themselves, they are all there. What a screwup this is.

I said screw it and made my own list for my horror movies (I have so many and I want them on one page). Not near done, but it's a start.

Not bad for someone who doesn't know HTML. Now why is this so hard?

Yes, this is so horrible in just about every single way. They shouldn't have done this until the new site was actually up and ready to go, without all of the different problems.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread but I'm really diggin www.listal.com right now. It works as if dvdspot and dvdaf mated (stats!) but you can also list music, games and books. It's only R1 and R2 dvds though so I know it won't work fo everyone but it's nice having everything in one area and as long as Amazon has the item listed adding an item i s smple it pisses me off at the other sites. So again, the url is...

Crap, I didn't even know about the change until I tried to access the site today (I hadn't visited in a while). What a pain in the ass.

It seems that a lot of computer programmers/web designers like to release their creations before they're actually finished and functional. I can't believe that the designer actually thinks that DVD AF 2.0 is an upgrade. It may end up with more functions than 1.0, but it looks terrible and went live long before it was ready.

The pictures on the "One Pager" link, however, look very nice in 2.0. That feature could be useful is designed properly and, you know, finished.

DVD Spot is ok. I need to play around more with it, but most of my collection has been entered and it's decent.

I've got another DVDSpot question, I got help here last time so I'm gonna ask here again. It's easier than joining their forum to ask.

What's the preferred way to handle store exclusives? Should the store exclusive disc be listed separately (How I Met Your Mother Circuit City exclusive) or should it be combined with it's main DVD as a new listing (Tenacious D Best Buy exclusive, Spider-Man 2.1 Wal-Mart exclusive)? I'm hoping the second way, that makes more sense to me than listing the bonus disc by itself.

Yeah, it still shows only 50 with the ?rc=1. Maybe I am missing the meaning of "display all owned?"

I do like that DVD Spot lists the MSRP value of your collection.

I've had negative experiences with the DVDAf crew in the past. They're extremely anal about excepting title submissions, and a few times after scanning covers and providing as much information as I could it was just easier to give up than deal with them a second longer.

But the best part of this migration to 2.0 is that the "Quick Add" feature is down during a DeepDiscount sale. So instead of just copying and pasting my order and having it search for all the titles for me, I'd have to sit there and add them all individually. No thanks.

On their board they say they are Aware of the bugs and missing features. Lets see how long it takes to actually do anything about them.

I'm so pissed at the new DVDaf. No way I can stay there. I have a huge collection and I had just finally added it all back in January. I submitted so many titles to DVDaf. I'm really scared that DVDspot won't have them. Pain in the ass, but I think I'll just go ahead and start the migration.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's really PO'd with this. I thought it was the best organizer. Never liked the look of the others, and now it's probably the worst.

If you have made different folders /categories for certain DVD's in your collection, then "owned" will only show the ones not assigned to a category. You have to display "all owned" if you want to see all of your DVD's without them being categorized.

Hi smashthesymbols. I'm not entirely sure if you mean the free promo discxs that stores hand out or exclusive releases which include artcards or a disc only for that particular store.

If you mean the promo discs, it should be listed as part of the title. If you mean the exclusive bonus disc which is actually part of the release you shold put it in the edition box as (e.g.) Wal-Mart Exclusive w/ Bonus Disc (or similar).
