Got to admit i've never been a great fan of DVDAf though briefly checking DVDspot i don't think for me it's a better option as judging by briefly using the search engine a lot of region 2 titles simply don't appear whereas DVDAf appears to be at least a bit better in this department?

If a title you own is not listed on DVD Spot you can contribute it yourself and the editors will add it.

True, the same applies at DVDAf too..though maybe i'm being lazy and to be fair i simply don't have the time working 13 hour shifts and having 3 step kids to submit the multitude of titles (probably 100 + French/Italian) i own which aren't listed and guess DVDAf at least happens to include more of these releases and therefore is a quicker, lazier and easier option i guess.

I woke up this morning and wondered what I had done so wrong that God would curse me with DVDAf version 2.0.

still trying to decide on DVDSpot over Profiler 3.0. Just hard to transfer over 2400 titles

Hi Rich. As a fellow Englishman this is the only thing I have had difficulty with. I'm actually an editor on DVDSpot now but with over 2500 titles including many Polish, German, Scandinavian etc, it has been a slow process but everyday I'm seeing many many more added. Jump in and use the quick fill option to move data over from the R1 discs and save bucketloads of time. I'm pretty sure we have the fastest time fr accepting or declining tickets out of any of the sites (though my experience with dvdaf and Profiler are pre-2005).

You can change how many you want to view per page. I've been using DVDSpot for over 2 years now and I've had mine set to 100 per page. You can also view all of the DVDs in your collection at once by changing that on the viewing options on the top left of the listing.

I'm with everyone else. This new site is terrible. I guess I'll give DVDSpot a try. I hope they can handle the increase in users they're apparently going to get from this.

In addition to all the problems people have already pointed out, apparently any private folders you had are now public. Not only that, but from a quick look at their forum it looks like you won't be able to have private folders at all now. Instead privacy is done title by title, so if you had hundreds of titles in your private folders they expect you to go through them one by one to set them to private, once they get private turned on that is.

Just so this post isn't all negativity, I do like that TV sets are now clipped so they don't show every single episode listing, that was irritating on the old site.

I can't even get far enough to migrate my collection before I can see if I like it or not. I tried to migrate and it says I'm not a member. So to make sure I didn't forget my password, I signed out and then back into the old DVDAf and it worked fine. The "Help" section doesn't load, the "Contact Center" link leads nowhere. Guess I'll give it a couple days and try again. I could try DVDSpot, but I'm not looking forward to adding like 1500 titles to a new site.

Can you expor from DVDaf?

If you can, you can then import into DVDSpot

I'm not really a fan of DVDSpot. They won't let me add all of my DVDs. Apparently, I bought a couple bootleg Gung Fu flicks off of HKFlix, and, of course, DVDSpot is too high and mighty to have bootlegs listed on their site.

I don't think it's a matter of being "high and mighty", just a standard they choose to go with and I have no problem with it. Im' sure if they would allow them others would be upset that bootlegs were being allowed on the site, so it comes down to a matter of perspective.

Calling DVDSpot 'high and mighty' because we choose to not accept bootlegs makes you sound a bit immature. We have made exceptions for grey market companies that we don't have much information on, but why should we encourage criminal activity?

Hey .. I had the same problem, but I noticed a possible solution relatively quick .. it's your user name. It appears that when they jumped to 2.0 they added a hypen between spaces within user names. So, try Chris-Phelps when you sign onto 2.0. Hope this helps.

Now, as far as 2.0 goes .. I'm with most and then some - it's f-ing horrible!!

I just dumped profiler about two weeks ago and spent that last week or so porting my collection over. Come to find out this happened.

Where are the quick links above the collection array? Where are the user controls? What's with the all white look (at least the blue/white sectioning gave one's eyes a little rest)? What's with the irritating floating menu? Where did the ability to rate go? So much for stats!??

Yeah, I realize it's free, but like someone mentioned .. why fix something when that thing ain't broke!!?????? I may not have given it a chance, but really .. unless some of these features come quickly, they're f-ing themselves over this one.

How can I import my collection directly from DVDAF to DVDSpot?

DVDAF 2.0 is 2.shit. 50 results per page and they can stick it. I remember when DVD Aficionado wasn't the popular one among people I knew, yet I loved it. I still would if they wouldn't limit it to 50 per page. It's of no use to me with 50 per page.

DVDSpot has such ugly pictures, but I may have no choice. How do people screw up something so simple?!

You have to click on the menu on the left hand side to get to your list of DVD's.

The pda helper function is gone now too then, right? I want a printer-friendly version of my files.

I just migrated my collection, and it looks like ass. The worst part is that they're going to be taking down the original DVDAF any day now.

cant say I like it either, although it looks like many of the features are still being worked on for the new site.

for those interested though, if you click on any particular title, it goes into one-pager mode which lets you do stuff like add ratings etc (its now a 5 star system rather than 4 for ratings). But some fo the things are still uneditable. There was also a post on the forums saying statistics will be displayed on the main pagelike v1, but it's not done yet.

Hi Sam! I just converted to DVDAF 2.0 and is not fully satisfied so to say... I tried DVDSpot and two problems I found out were: 1. DVD database is much poorer than the one of DVDAF (but that's the minor problem - I can contribute as well as I did with DVDAF). 2. The major one - on any DVD release page there's no indication what country this DVD's from!!! Only a region code. For me this info is essential. This might be the only reason I still haven't migrated to DVDSpot. Is it possible to do anything about that? Because I like all other aspects of DVDSpot.
