Will we ever see a complete Star Wars Boxset?

It's the same deal as Yoda not being shown in Episode III landing on the planet he banished himself to... we didn't get that scene supposedly because the fans weren't faithful enough and complained somewhat about the prior two films. Now, we're supposedly not getting this set this year because the fans weren't faithful enough to purchase that crappy double dip editions with the un-anamorphic original theatricals with them. I wouldn't put it past Lucas. It could happen, sure. But I kinda think it won't.

I've seen the deleted scene, and it would have not fit in with the flow of the ROTS ending. Pure and simple.

Well as far as the Yoda thing, it's what I heard. It's certainly based on here-say but it's not something I myself made up and I'm not a huge fanboy. I actually don't mind the newer versions of the original trilogy and all that, and haven't been quite steamed about much. But from what I've heard from discussions on this forum, it just seems to me like Lucas can be a bitter snotball.

I like to think I'm up to date on most Lucas gossip, but I never heard that one.
There was a comment made last fall, re the half-assed non-16x9 OOT releases, to the effect of: "we'll see how well they really sell." There's certainly some snottiness in that little statement since they know they wouldn't sell well. I still see scads of them on store shelves to this day, and it breaks my heart. If they had only made that tiny extra step, everyone would have been happy.
Hell, I'd buy another set of them every month just to get that rush from buying the original versions on DVD.

God, how many specials were there...Clapperboard, SP/FX, From Star Wars To Jedi, The Making Of Star Wars, R2-D2 Beneath The Dome, Classic Creatures...I don't remember them all.
Nonetheless, if they release this, I'll buy it. No questions asked. I wait patiently, I don't care to buy the latest OT release, and if Lucasfilm releases a product that's great, I'm sold.

I bet we see a basic 6 movie set with all the movies (as last released) included.
I won't buy ANY more Star Wars (including a Animorphic OT) on DVD. I have very nice HD versions of all 6 movies and until they release them in a HD format, I'm out...

They're 13 year old non-anamorphic, laserdisc transfers. 13 years ago they were supposedly the cats meow. Today, they belong in the litterbox.
And I don't care what argument anyone can bring up about us ungrateful fans not deserving anamorphic transfers of the original versions; the films deserve anamorphic transfers. Period.

Ok, first I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo glad there is another Star Wars thread to get us all lathered up again a few weeks after the "This Message Board Isnt Fun Anymore" thread. I was beginning to think we've lost it (The WKRP outraged died down way too quickly, IMHO!
Anywhoo....
I have three things to add to this conversation-
A. I want my mega-super deluxe "Meesa Ratha Be Dead Hea Then Dead In The Core.....What Is Meesa Sayin!?!" Box Set to be in a replica tin of the R2D2 mailboxes. I mean, if its gonna be that many discs anyway, lets go whole hog.
B. Is there any way we can get the Muppet Show starring the Cast of Star Wars as part of this mega collection? Who puts out the Muppet Show season sets on DVD. Is it Fox? What the Holliday Special coulda and maybe shoulda been.
C. Didnt Lucas say within the last year that the next time we would be seeing the OT was on the big screen IN 3-D!!!! ? I mean, if he's gonna do that, ya gotta have a DVD release for that then?
......and of corse ya know you've got to do the first DVD run with the old school technology with the old school red and blue glasses (which will come in 10 special edition designs that would make you a total loser if you didnt have all of them). Then they will be re-released in cutting edge IMAX 3-D with the ultra cool glasses (which will then be sold with 10 limited editon hologram stickers on the bottom right eyeglass), which will of corse mean that the original 3-D editons no longer exist because....blah, blah.....final vision....blah blah.....but if you have to have it...blah, blah....non-anamorphic...blah....

The question remains, are the "original" versions really the way they were in 1977, 1980 and 1983? I've read over the years that Lucas tinkered with Star Wars when it was re-released in '78 or '79, and more tinkerings when it went to home video. It seems most of us here are too young to know first-hand. I saw Empire and Jedi in the cinema but I've seen the home version too many times

I have to ask...Is there a reason why Lucas did not release the movie with a anamorphic transfer? Is it that hard to transfer all the movies to anamorphic? Sorry to have to ask, I just can't understand why...

As for Star Wars, Lucas gave us some bullshit reason like the negatives were damaged or lost or something like that. And according to him, the '77, '80, and '83 versions no longer exist. Just like the holiday special.

So yes, it could be argued that Lucas has always been tinkering with these movies, but those differences were pretty insignificant compared to the major content changes he imposed in 1997 and beyond.

Did anyone else see this on IMDb today?
Now I'm certainly not a big Spiderman fan, and I've heard nothing but negative things about the 3rd one, but a comment like this just comes across as staggeringly arrogant. Especially coming from the man who brought us Jar Jar Binks.
'Spider-Man 3' Is "Silly," Says Lucas
George Lucas has joined the major newspaper critics in their negative appraisal of Spider-Man 3. In an interview with FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman, Lucas said, "It's a silly movie. ... There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there?" Over the weekend, Spider-Man 3 surged ahead of Lucas's Star Wars' episode Revenge of the Sith to take the record for the biggest weekend box-office record. Star Wars was also criticized as being "silly," Lucas noted. "But it wasn't."
