Tell me about it. My Toshiba model 2006 was $450 at PriceClub (now Costco) in 1997. But hey, it was new technology.

I probably have the same Sony receiver- bought it in 1998 for $599, this was the first time I'd seen anything with DTS for under $1000 so I had to jump on it. I didn't trust Sony but at that price thought I'd give them one more chance; the receiver still works but it's always had a problem where sometimes it will turn on and give you no sound, so you have to turn it off for a few seconds then turn it back on again. My next receiver will be another brand. The blue light is cool, but I put black tape over it because it was just too distracting when watching a movie, plus it unfairly made it seem like something was missing when it was off during Pro-Logic sound, which can sometimes sound just as good.

Zero Effect and the 2-Disc Boogie Nights at the same time as my RCA DVD player.

Blade, which was given to me by my wife on Valentine's Day (2002)...she paid $30 plus for it.

X-Files Season 1, back in 2000 and yeah i still have it.

I bought a few DVDs before I even had a DVD player, but I think I upgraded all of them (i.e. Seven and JFK) except for Tin Cup. So I still have that one.

Training Day. I forgot when I bought it. I think some time in 2002. I still have it, still scratchless.

It was either Wag the Dog or T2 and both have been either given away or sold.

Dark City and I still have it.

Vegas Vacation in Sept 2001.

It was only released in FS at the time. Sold it on eBay when the WS version came out.

My first two titles were 12 Monkeys and El Mariachi/Desperado. I recently sold 12 Monkeys to pick up the HD version. Still have the El Mariachi/Desperado.

Ive got that disc too. Missing some of the special features if I remember correctly. But that soundtrack was just awesome!
I don't remember the disc costing that much though.

My first two DVDs were The Mask (Jim Carrey) and I think Batman (the first Keaton), both of which I replaced with newer special editions. I think it was either April or May of 1997.

Exactly 10 years ago my first 4 titles were-

-Africa: The Serengeti
-Animation Greats!

Those were the first 4 dvds released, a few days before the first batch of Warner titles came out. I sold them off a few years ago, as they were pretty shitty dvds that came in jewel boxes to boot.

at the begginning of my dvd days i used my ps2 as a dvd player and if i recall rite i got 3 dvds from columbia house:

-the green mile
-shrek
& one other dvd which i can't seem to remember which one it was, anyway i still have all three of them and all in mint condition. during that time i picked up i think the simpsons s 1-3 during the time i used the ps2 as a dvd player.

in christmas of 03' i think it was, i got a RCA-DVD/VCR combo player and got men in black 2 with it as a x-mas gift.

i still have every dvd i have every bought and exept for the odd used one i bought over the years %90 of my collection are in tip top shape.
now i buy dvd every week as apposed to just once an awhile, wow do times change.

My 1st dvd was 'A Streetcar Named Desire" in April of 97. I still have it.

Beauty and the Beast CC, I was doing a paper for my childrens lit class and ahd to pick a fairytale to write a term paper on.

My first disc was the Hong Kong R0 of Sex & Zen. I got rid of it long ago, and have since upgraded to the recent anamorphic remaster.

Can't remember with absolute certainty, but I'm thinking my first was "The Simpsons: Seasons 1", which of course I still have and watch occasionally.

Mission Impossible 2 and Gladiator 2 disc, still have gladiator

Army of Darkness and I sold it long ago after upgrading it for the last time (hopefully).

You don't upgrade Army of Darkness... you just keep on collecting it -wink-
