The Negotatior, still have it and I bought it on the same day I bought my Samsung DVD player. I was a late adoptor because I liked laserdisc so much. It was only after my brother got his Pioneer player with Lost in Space (I was so blown away by the menu screens) that I went for it!
I think I have made up from my earlier hestation. BTW I still have that laserdisc player. |
I got my DVD player in 99 and there were only a handful of dvds out at the time.
The Matrix, The Blair Witch Project, and the Nightmare on Elm Street Collection where my first purchases... I think. Hard to remember. Yes, I still have them. |
My first DVD was South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut. I bought it shortly after it came out on the same day I bought my first DVD player, which was a pioneer that cost about $250.

EYES WIDE SHUT in April of 2000. Still have it.

the first batch of Warner Bros. DVD's which included 'Blade Runner' obviously I recently got rid of it for the new upcoming SE.

Never bought it, but Elizabeth was the first dvd to penetrate my virgin player - she obviously had a strap on.

ROCKY II in 1998.
I don't have it, as I've upgraded ROCKY II twice. I bought it for the trailer: "He wants to bury ya, he wants to humiliate ya....He wants to prove to the whole world that you were nothin' but a freak the first time out!" That's when trailers were the only extras that DVD's had. |
'The Big Lebowski' - bought the DVD and laserdisc at the same time (still didn;t have a DVD player yet).

Born on the Fourth of July, Nov. '99. Got it for free from a voucher (Reel.com) that came with my DVD-R drive. Sold it a few months later since it was part of the original, deluxe Oliver Stone box set, which I also no longer have. BOTFOJ was those titles that I also double/triple-dipped on until Universal finally did it right a few years ago.

First dvds I got for Christmas (and still have) - Jurassic Park 3, Planet of the Apes Remake Special Edition. I bought Rush Hour 2 a few days later and still have it.
