Not true. My Executive Decision is anamorphic. I double checked it on my set just a week or so ago.

As for the special features on Unlawful Entry, I think FOX owns the rights to them since it was originally a FOX release. Maybe FOX only granted a barebones release.

I'm puzzled why alot of these movies are in fullscreen. I own the Hard to Kill/Above the Law and Specialist/Cobra 2-movie packs and both are in fullscreen. Does transferring them to Widescreen take up more disc space or something?

But, to answer the original question, I do like these 2-disc packs because most of these movies will probably never receive a special edition upgrade and it's a chance to upgrade some of my exisiting VHS tapes of these movies for a very affordable price since most of them cost $9.99 at Best Buy or Circuit City.

I think when these were first introduced, I think the studios just thought of them as a "for the Wal-Mart crowd" kind of thing and Wal-Mart generally pushes FS over WS. In other cases, like The Man With Two Brains/My Blue Heaven the films are only available on DVD in FS to begin with. These days, more of them seem to be WS, although there are still a few outstanding sets I'd like them to re-issue in WS.

I have a Region 4 OAR (1.85:1) My Blue Heaven.

I also have Hard to Kill/Above the Law and the WS version is on the DVD but its a flipper with FS on one side. I also have Cobra/Tango and Cash and both of those are in WS.

Every double/Triple feature I own has the same exact content as on the original (Lethal Weapon triple feature, National Lampoons Vacation double ft, Cobra/Tango and Cash,Hard to Kill/Above the Law)....

and to everyone complaining they dont know how to file these, I have them in alphabetical order under the main actors name.

if you file them by movie title, just use the headlining movie.

I think its a good idea because a lot of the films they are releasing i would not want to pay any significant amount of money for. I did pick up the Tango and Cash/Cobra pack. Cobra is pure bollocks and only good for laugh, but i wanted Tango and Cash which i think is still a good tongue in cheek action flick.

By the way, to the Aussie guy talking about 5 packs....they do sell them stateside, but these DVDs seem to just be getting come attention from stores.

If only WB thought the way we do and asked for that instead of apparently waiting to forge a new WS for R1 (which they keep saying they'll do eventually). Yeah, I meant that since they were discs designed for "the Wal-Mart consumer" Warner picked the FS side to use and not the WS side. I think all of the New Line sets (which are, as far as I can tell, entirely FS) all have WS versions available in R1.

You're confusing me. Other than the new New Line Triple feature releases, all the titles we are discussing come in WS on the double features.

Anyone have the Addams Family double feature, with the original and sequel? I saw it today and was tempted. Do you lose anything getting the double feature vs buying them separately? Is it a flipper disc?

A co-worker came back from the Philippines recently and brought back a DVD with 8 movies on it. X-Men 3, Superman Returns, Dorm Daze 2, and 5 other big titles that I can't remember right now. Quality was very good considering how much information was on the disc. He said they were a few others, each with a different selections of movies, but he only bought the one. he said that was pretty normal over there and was surprised he couldn't find the same discs in the US.

I sincerely doubt that the movies you got were "official" releases if they were from the Philippines. That part of the world is the center for bootlegs. I should know...my wife went there and also to Thailand with work a couple of years ago and she came back with a load of N64/Gamboy/Advance games on DVDs for the PC and a few Gameboy cartridges that had literally 100 games on each cartridge.

Were all of those on one side?? I've got a few screener discs from Vanguard that each have 4 movies on one dual-layer side, picture quality is awful. There's a disclaimer at the start of each movie stating basically the retail discs won't look as crappy as the ones you're watching

There are plenty of FS-only Warner double-features, such as Private Benjamin/Protocol, Tango and Cash/Cobra, The Specialist/Assassins (I think it's Assassins), Scooby-Doo/Scooby-Doo 2, My Blue Heaven/The Man With Two Brains...they've gotten better recently about putting out films in OAR but there have certainly been some mistakes in the past.

getting them on sale can get the per film cost down to around $3

i don't usually buy the FS ones unless it's just a movie that doesn't lose a lot from being in that format. i have that Cobra/Tango & Cash FS flipper and the picture quality is admirable.

best deal on one i've seen is actually a triple feature, of Lethal Weapon 1-3, all WS and 5.1

T2/Total Recall is pretty sweet too though

Here's a REALLY STRANGE situation with one of the FOX double features....

CLASS ACTION / RUNAWAY JURY

Runaway Jury is presented in 1.33:1 FOOLSCREEN on its only SEPERATE DISC in this 2 dis set !!! A 2.35:1 FILM done to 1.33:1 - like.... why ?????

The back cover can be viewed via DVDEmpire - and the disc even states that its Dual Layer ??

WHY FOX ?????? How could you have stuffed this one up !!!



Further - the new Paramount Double Features are cheap and nasty !! ONE DISC for the two films (such as Eurotrip and Roadtrip - AND NO FEATURES !!). Gee - couldn't they be included ??? Gee - Paramount is CHEAP AND NASTY that it couldn't spend the $0.30c to include another disc in the package !!!

Here in Australia - we get double features.... triple features.... and now 5 movies in one package !!!

I'll side with one of the earlier posters about preferring separate cases and discs for each movie. Sometimes I will take a bite if the price is quite decent and if they all have their OAR.

reservoir dogs / bad lieutenant double feature is out...both widescreen and the res dogs is the 2 disc version..if i didnt already buy the res dogs in the tin id pick this up

I know the Wal-Mart out here in Georgetown, TX has a HUGE selection of the double-disc sets. Lots to choose from!

I don't supposed they finally restored the "Stairway To Heaven" bit in Wayne's World? The double-feature disc doesn't have the "some music has been changed" note on it, but they could have just forgotten to put it there.
