@ of my favorite films of the 70's came out on laserdisk in uncut versions (Each over 3 hours.. adding over 30 minutes to the US theatrical versions.
The Emigrants
THE NEW LAND
Wonderful films both having Oscar nominations with Liv Ullman and Max von Sydow.

I'm envious. The Emigrants and (especially) The New Land were really great films, and any laserdiscs of them are snatched up at (for me) wildly unrealistic prices.

How about the three early Scorsese short films that he made in college? I'm really surprised someone hasn't picked up on this laserdisc and minted a DVD.

What about Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The LD version has uncut snippets.

Which 3 were on laserdisc? I know a couple, like It's Not Just You, Murray!, are available on a WB compilation DVD.

Early Scorsese trio

The three are THE BIG SHAVE (1967), ITALIANAMERICAN (1974) and AMERICAN BOY (1978). I just stumbled across them on eBay so I can't tell you if they're any good. But it's Scorsese…

I'm really mystified about THE UNHOLY THREE. It was made in 1930, after sound technology had been pretty well settled, and it's the only talkie by Lon Chaney (who shortly afterwards died of cancer of the throat!). Chaney is always good, and here he has a really excellent supporting cast. The fact that THE UNHOLY THREE was first made as a silent in 1927 may have something to do with the uniformly high quality of this project. I've got it on a double-bill laserdisc with WEST OF ZANZIBAR, and both are dynamite.

Just picked this up on laserdisc a few months ago. Didn't seem right for me to not have a decent copy of the first Best Picture winner. Surprised this distinction alone hasn't resulted in a DVD release.

*UPDATED

Just a reminder: Please specify which version of a film you are referring to since many films have the same title.

It's on DVD. The DVD release may suck, I wouldn't know, but it does exist.

It's one of the ugliest DVD's I've ever seen. It's a fullscreen, flimsy quasi-bootleg from Canada that I've found in Walgreens for $4 and refuse to buy. It still remains the last Lynch movie to get an actual honest-to-god DVD release.

Scratch that. Criterion needs to get on Universal's case about this pronto, because not only do the two studios have ties, but Lynch is blaringly absent from the collection and needs some attention.

I wouldn't know, since I can't see it PERIOD! GRRR! In all seriousness, though, you might be right, but in either event it deserves a DVD release.

Given how niche Lynch (say that five times fast) is, I'm surprised that he's gotten the exposure on DVD that he has.

Lynch probably wouldnt' participate anyways, but he still deserves a place in the Collection. Of course, if we get on the topic of Criterion, we're going to be here a long time...

Oh, and...widescreen please!
Man of the West
The Wonderful Country
The Tall T
Comanche Station
Buchanon Rides Alone
Ride Lonesome
Decision at Sundown
The Incredible Shrinking Man
The Magnificent Ambersons
Hitchcock's The Loger (TCM restoration)

What else...
Where's Mr. Erikson? I'm sure that he'd have plenty to say...

Uh oh...I'm 99% sure these guys were not released on laserdisc either...but I wish they had been....I LOVE those Randolph Scott westerns.

MAN OF THE WEST is Mann's best western...and thats saying alot.

Go region free and you'll discover there already exists a cheap and proper-aspect ratio version of Lost Highway
