You're in the right ballpark, it is indeed a low budget Japanese horror/exploitation film, but I guessed and gut confirmed that it is one of the ALL NIGHT LONG films. I'm not sure which one though, I'm thinking part one or two. Haven't watched the damn films in 7 or 8 years.

i always figured with all the controversy (shit eating) and rumors (facets, white ring) surrounding the dvd release that this movie never existed in the first place, and was just a figment of a dvd collectors imagination. i'll probably buy it at the next ddd %20 off sale if the price is right.

Thanks for the link, that's the one. When I first saw it (the footage in the camcorder), I immediately thought of SALO.
