Ooh, maybe they'll give it one of those fancy subtitles, like the Razzle Dazzle Edition etc.

Any suggestions?

Ya, my morbid curiosity has gotten the better of me on this release too. I am going to pick this one up just to say that I have actually seen it.

I've never seen it, so I'll get my chance soon. This is good timing, now that my girlfriend is working an extra night. I can watch it without her thinking I'm off my rocker.

They're going to give Salo the Seven Samurai treatment? That my friends is some awesome shit!

Hopefully this time it'll be completely uncut. I heard they were missing about 30s-1min on the original release.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0073650/alternateversions

- Reviews from the original theatrical release mention scenes not present in any currently existant cut of the film. One of these is of a young girl stripped nude with hungry rats tied around her genitals; a production photo of this scene serves as the background for one of the menu screens of the Criterion DVD.

- There is rumored to be a 354-minute version.

I take it then that this isn't a family movie?

No family-friendly movie has ever shown people eating poop.

Sometimes I wonder about the stuff I've watched compared to other people. I personally don't think SALO is as rough as most other people think it is. It's far from a feel good film, and is tough going at times, but there's worse out there. What does that say about me?

At any rate, I'm glad that I never spent the big bucks for the first release. I'll be getting this new one.

Yeah, there are plenty. Just depends on how desensitized an individual is. I've been called a sick, twisted bastard for years since I seem to be filled with enjoyment when watching corpse-sex, nun-nipple-twisting and various body torture films.

Salo? Well, I never did own it and refused to be a sucker who would pay $400 for a copy when common sense said it will be re-released at some point. Yeah....count me in.

Just remembered that there are many scenes/themes from films ...that although they sometimes only last a few seconds...outscore Salo's poison by a few touchdowns. One is where a kid is so "into" this girl that he actually digs through her trash, collects old bloody tampoons, arranges them so he can study her "cycle"....and be closer to her. And then eat her leftover scraps. Now THAT almost made me puke. Just the thought of it all. Yuk! (I love it)

Think I need to viddey Salo just to calm down.

Was that one of the Japanese ALL NIGHT LONG films? The film you are describing sounds familiar.

At any rate, I always knew that you were a guy after my own heart when it comes to movies.

One of my favourite bands, Cradle of Filth, did a video a couple years back for one of their songs "Babylon AD (So Glad for the Madness)", and it looked to be somewhat influenced by SALO. Fans of the film might want to check it out, it's a quite well done homage.
